The Wizard of Oz is one of my all time favourite films and I've been looking for the right head for a Dorothy Gale for the longest time. But to my surprise, there's been very little in terms of Judy Garland style heads in 1/6th scale and I honestly think the 2013 Mattel version is hideous, especially for a doe eyed young Judy Garland. I also just don't like how aged up Dorothy dolls tend to be but that's just personal taste. However, ever since repainting the Disney Store Alice dolls, I always felt like a much more stylised Dorothy was potentially waiting to be made, especially since I liked the doe eyes and the general shape of the face. I also don't know if people would have wanted to see a Dorothy doll be so cartoony so I've held off on this. But with the current lockdown I've been more and more tempted and so I begun rerooting an Alice doll in chestnut brown saran hair. I actually loved Dorothy's Emerald City hairstyle so I opted to give her an insane amount of curls, and just kept the straws in for a few days to ensure they held. Honestly I just wanted a very sweet Dorothy doll heavily inspired by Judy Garland and her gorgeous brown eyes so it's what I aimed for on this doll. This probably isn't a custom most people wanted, but I'm incredibly happy how she turned out, especially since I don't think a more realistic Dorothy is being planning any time soon, especially since the 80th Anniversary passed without a new set of dolls from any doll company. #dororthygale #dorothygaledoll #dorothydoll #wizard#wizardofozdoll #thewizardofoz #thewizardofozdoll #repaint https://www.instagram.com/p/CTpPTZfBV6w/?utm_medium=tumblr
