“You’ve got a fever. Of course I’m not going anywhere.” with the ot3? 💓
It has been too long since the last OT3 fic! Rend belongs to me, Dorian to the ever talented @fawnsummer and Jude to the lovely @existentialtrashdump
That day’s hunt had been wild. Two demons had run through and disturbed a faenest as they pursued after them, making their kill counts go up considerably, but their injury count as well.
They had spent the better part of an hour hiking out of acanyon, somehow after killing both their original targets. Dorian had been carried on Rend’s back until they stopped to set up camp, one of the demons had lashed out at him with its poisonous claws as he delivered a finishing blow.
The sun was low, ready to set and disappear over the dark hills for the nightmuch like the three exhausted hunters ready to drop. Rendlen gently depositedDorian onto the ground, quickly getting to work mixing several of the antidoteshe kept on hand, to make something effective to nullify the poison’sproperties.
They had gotten lucky the poison wasn’t lethal.
Jude had escaped with only a few scrapes and bruises, compared to her boys at least.
Rend chuckled as Jude dabbed a damp cloth over his lower lip once he was done administering to their dark haired love, her brows drawn together letting him know just how she felt about their hunt.Dorian lay on his back to their right, waiting for the shallow wound on hisshoulder to stop throbbing with only minor complaints.
“Ow,” he breathed as she pulled gently on the lip, examiningit further with an apologetic look. “how bad is it?”
Their blue eyes met, a small smile crossing her features asshe saw some of the swelling on his blackened left eye had calmed down somewhat.“It’s bad, but I don’t think it’ll need stitches,” the laugh that emitted fromher as he attempted to grin made him want to smile more…but he refrained from doing so.
Dor watched them, scoffing as he attempted to sit up.Immediately, two elegant hands were pushing him back to the ground, Jude’s faceunamused as she checked his temperature. Cold sweat gleaned off his pale skin, his heartbeat still accelerated as though he were running.
“I told you to stay put! Until that poison runs its courseyou are not going anywhere, Ognjen.”
Green eyes zoomed over to meet Rend’s in silent annoyed disagreement.
“I’ll be fine. Besides, we need to find firewood-“
“Dorian, love, I am more than capable of going to findkindling and wood for the night by myself. You need to rest. That poison hassome nasty effects for movingrecipients. Listen to Jude.”
“Not you too,” he groaned letting his head fall back to themakeshift pillow, made from Rendlen’s satchel. “…fine. I’ll stay put, but I’m going to whine aboutit.”
Jude smiled at him, taking his hand in her own beforebringing it to her mouth to kiss his scraped-up knuckles. “You’ll be fine, remember? So hush. I’ll stay with you if that’ll make it better?”
He lifted a brow, trying hard to hide a smirk from givingaway his approval.
“Oh, trying to get out of the chores I see?”
She rolled her eyes, ruffling his hair before standing up.“You’ve got a fever, loverboy, I’m not going anywhere.”
Rend blew a kiss towards the two of them before getting tohis feet and setting off to collect fuel for the fire, as well as securing thearea before heading back to their makeshift camp. He had made his way around thefoliage, hoisting an armful of firewood and kindling.
His heart felt as though it would stop beating from thescene that played out before himself when he reached the tents. Jude and Dor truly were adorable.
Dorian had propped his head up on her lap, telling her oneof the many stories from his childhood as she tended to the small abrasion onhis shoulder closest to her. The skin around the wound was dark, but theantidote Rend had made seemed to be alleviating the pain, at least enough thatstorytelling with his animated gestures wasn’t making him wince.
To announce his arrival, Rend purposely stepped on a twig, watchingboth lovers tensing and readying for a fight instantaneously. Jude’s sword wasdrawn, Dorian’s hands gripping the handles of his daggers in case there was athreat. They both exhaled when the glow of blonde hair in the moonlight mettheir gazes.
“Were I a monster, I would have gotten the jump on you two,”he jested, giggling to himself when they both groaned in unison. “but lucky foryou it’s just me and I don’t plan on killing you. Although I can’t promise Iwon’t eat you out, that’s still on the table once my lip is healed.”
Dorian lifted a quizzical brow. “What do you expect us to dountil then?”
“Each other,” Jude retorted biting her lip as she peered upat Rend through unfairly long lashes.
Rend chuckled alluringly, sending a wink over his shoulderas he bent over in front of them, giving them a good view, as he began placingthe logs he’d collected to build a suitable fire. Jude gave a short whistle andDorian starred at him with his lip tucked between his teeth, waggling hiseyebrows playfully every time Rend made eye contact with him.
“Oh, how I love you two,” Rend sighed, happily sitting downafter a warm flame was going, taking a moment to kiss both of their temples as they watched thefire snuggled together under the stars.
(The OT3 plan a special surprise for Rend! The ever lovely Jude belongs to @existentialtrashdump and the fantastic Dorian belongs to @fawnsummer)
Rendlen sat in his study, humming a tune absentmindedly as he adjusted a few of the bolts in his prosthetic. The sudden feeling of two freezing cold hands sliding up his forearms and up to his neck made him chuckle, a shiver following as her fingers rested there.
“Hello Love.”
Rend smiled, raising his hands to lace his fingers with Jude’s, letting out a contented sigh as he did.
“Are you almost done? Dor and I have a surprise for you...”
Their eyes met as he turned in her arms, pulling her closer as he wrapped an arm tightly around her waist. Dorian stood in the doorway, lazily grinning over at his two lovers as he held up a bottle of an impressive white wine.
“A surprise? Whatever for?” He jested, loving the little defiant pout on her face.
“Please tell me you haven’t forgotten your own birthday, blondie?” Dorian chimed, folding his arms expectantly.
They both eyed him, watching as Rend put on a thoughtful look as if he was in deep contemplation, a fit of giggles breaking through his chest as Jude swatted at his shoulder.
Rend knew full well what day it was, although he had no intentions of making an entire day about himself. Growing up a noble had always made birthday celebrations lavish and grandeur, while Rendlen would much rather stay at home with a select group of people relaxing over a good glass of wine.
This year he wanted to do nothing but relax. His loves, however, had made...secret plans.
“Of course I haven’t, Dearest. How could I when you two have been conspiring together for days at this surprise of yours? Hmm?”
Jude rolled her eyes, pulling at Rendlen’s hands until he got to his feet; continuing to usher him forward until they were all through the door.
Rend quirked a brow, but obliged willingly as they offered him his coat, both leaning in at the same time to place a kiss on his cheeks. He smirked, curious as to why they were wanting to walk out in the falling snow.
It was beautiful out, the chill of winter being unusually pleasant for a change. Flurries of snow danced over the road and over the tops of their boots, noses and cheeks kissed pink, laughter filling their ears as they walked hand in hand together.
A garden came into view, at the same time a prick of magic surged through him and Rendlen couldn’t keep from smiling ear to ear. His sneaky lovers had coordinated behind his back to invite some guests; Rend only realized this after his left arm lit up a bright purple.
“Happy birthday Renny!” Came two familiar voices as they rounded the corner, two sets of arms immediately enveloping him in an affectionate hug.
He let them go, looking into a set of equally blue eyes, silver blonde hair glistening in the sun that had peaked through the clouds. With a happy grin Rend looked down to study the details of white lashes against pale purple eyes starring up at him.
It felt as though he was personally looking into a mirror as he placed one hand on the identical man’s shoulder his arm reacting in kind with a soft lilac glow, and one on his little sister’s cold cheek.
“Father! Dame! It is so good to see you.” Rend looked over to smile at his loves, a thankful look plastered across his features. It had been quite some time since he had been able to visit them, months since he had mentioned he’d wanted them all to meet, yet they had remembered and brought them here to celebrate.
His heart felt complete at that moment, like there could be nothing else more perfect in the world than the four people by his side.
Rend realized nothing could ever compare or hold a candle up to this little family he had; no item nor present could ever be as priceless as this surprise Jude and Dorian had gifted him. A chance to spend quality time with all the people he loved the most.
