Doryanthes palmeri
This huge Australian native is sometimes called the “spear lily”, no doubt due to its long pointed leaves. It is very impressive when it flowers, with its large stalk of red flowers arching to the side rather than going upward. The flower color varies from bright red to salmon-red. Doryanthes palmeri is native to Queensland and New South Wales, in eastern Australia.
