“If it is this cold and not even winter, I’m surprised all you northmen did not freeze to death generations ago.”
“How fascinating, please do tell me more.”
❝ Have you never seen a woman in armor? On Bear Island, every girl learns to fight. We do it just as well as any man. Sometimes even better. ❞ Jorelle said proudly, her favorite throwing axe in her left hand. The last sentence was spoken quieter while the Mormont’s lips tugged upwards into a smirk.
Open starter; Winter is here
Gendry wasn't as slow as people made him out to be. He heard the whispers on the wind, the rumours in the inns and the gallant stories of the King of the north in Winterfell. Some say he wore the mask of a wolf, mowing down lannister armies with his mighty wolf pack; grown to the size of horses. Others say that he was a wolf himself, a beast of a man who could tear a horse in two.
Gendry knew better. Robb Stark was a boy, the same age or older than himself. A high born lord who was a clever tactician and had the numbers to match. The stories never meant much to him, he was with the brotherhood. Working in the forges and making do with the materials he had. He still longed for castle forged steel, a master to learn from, a small girl with kind grey eyes who didn't quite make him feel so alone.
This was how he found himself at Winterfell's gates, nothing but his warhammer in hand and the clothes on his back. He steeled himself, and walked forward into unknown territory. He just hoped the King was in need of a smithy, there was no where else for him to go.
“You’d think they’d never seen a woman in armour before. After Dacey saved half these lordlings arses, they should be over their delicate sensibilities.”
Olyvar had been spending time around northmen for a long while now, and he had grown accustomed to most of them. However, it was still strange to be the brother of a queen as well as a knight. Ser Olyvar, they called him now. Never had he ever thought he would get here, yet here he was. He spent a remarkable amount of his time sparring with fellow knights and other men, sometimes even women, in the courtyard. He had grown thirsty after having taken many hits and landing on the ground more than once. He stepped aside to get a gulp of wine. “Entertaining, is it not?” he asked someone beside him.
“Would you awfully mind doing the honour of accompanying me to the glass gardens? Some of the flowers are beautiful, and I promise to not dawdle. I'll make it up to you, simply name your price.”
