AU Summaries

This is more of a lighthearted AU, Izuku becomes a sumo wrestler!

Basically, after Izuku’s Quirkless diagnosis, Hisashi comes back home for a bit and take the family to a sumo match, and Izuku instantly falls in love with

Don’t him wrong, he’s still an absolute hero and Quirk nerd, but now he’s also obsessed with sumo wrestling

Unfortunately, sumo wrestling’s popularity has been on the decline

When All Might offered Izuku the chance to be a hero with One for All, Izuku was initially going to refuse because he had plans for become a sumo wrestler, but then an idea struck him!

He could become a sumo themed hero and use his money and influence to revitalize sumo wrestling!

Hisashi takes the family out to an amateur sumo match as the professional stables faded out of fashion with the advent of quirks. It was meant to be an enjoyable family day out, and no one knew the change that would have.

Upon seeing the powerful display of quirkless combat, Izuku was hooked, and dedicated himself to training for the new sport that he loved. He would show the world that Sumo was still a powerful form of martial arts, and restore the honor to the Japanese national sport.

He finds a training partner in one Ojirou Mashirao, who while not as dedicated to a single sport, sees the benefit of quirkless combat. Forgoing the weight restrictions, they both train, and fashion their own Mawashi (belts)

Izuku tries to grow his hair and style in the top knot, and while it's passably a ōichō style of the higher ranked sumo wrestlers, if one squints, his curly and wild hair does not tame.

With All Might on his side, helping train him in addition to OFA, Izuku knows that he can not only become the great sumo hero of his dreams, but also help rebuild Sumo from the ruins that is is currently.

Imagine how shocked everyone else at the Entrance Exams must have been

Here’s this chubby, kind of short, mess haired kid that everyone thinks will pose absolutely no threat to them, only for Izuku to start obliterating robots left and right with single palm strikes

Part of me wonders if he’d go so far as to wear his mawashi to the test, like as soon as they get off the bus he starts taking off his track suit to reveal he was wearing his mawashi the whole time

As he forgoes the weight restrictions, he's more stocky than chubby. Muscular and built for power. Still, no one thinks anything of the Mawashi weirdo, until he grapple flips a three-pointer like it was a scarecrow.

Izuku definitely tries to get other UA students interested in sumo, be they from the Hero, GenEd, Support, or Business Course, all are welcome to join in on the joy of sumo wrestling

I could see Shoji, Kendou, Kirishima, Rikido, Tenya, Ochako, Shishida, Testutestu, Tokage, and Togata being regulars.

Shinsou is dragged in when he makes his declaration against 1-A. No Noodle Arms will face the heroics. Hatsume sometimes pops in, she has shamed a few with her strength.

Izuku initially wanted his hero costume to just be a mawashi belt, but that got rejected

Apparently the reason Tori’s costume was allowed was due to the wording of the law being about “visible” skin which technically doesn’t apply to her

Izuku is pretty miffed about it

Dosukoi 

He did try, and while they allow him to use it for ceremonial and sporting bouts, heroics he has to wear a green body suit with armored weave in it.

His mother consulting on it was appreciated, and lovely, but he had to fight to get her to not put him in a titanium mecha armor that a pink haired girl suggested.

Let's be honest, some of those costumes are pushing it... looking at you Red Riot and Dynamight.
