Back in the day, when NBA cards were the IN thing, I wasn't into them. I was never really into collectibles, I thought that they were for corporations to make gullible people into customers by buying and buying more until you complete their current set of toys.
I bought the TI4 DotA2 Compendium about a few months back and currently sport a level 46 (or 47, I dunno) compendium. Spent $9.99 (around PhP 440) to buy it, and then boosted myself 24 levels (2400 points) with another $9.99. The rest of the levels I attained by completing compendium tasks and just using the points received from drops. But this is not about that. This is about the 2014 player cards.
Recently, I get tons of these. I get a player card pack and each pack gives me like 10 cards. I have lots of duplicates. And best of all, these cards are free, so collecting them is fun now. I've recently dumped my Na'Vi (EU), DK, iG and Team Empire cards since I've completed all 5. Now I'm going for some other teams, as well as getting 10 of each for each player of the teams I like. Some teams I don't care about (MVP Phoenix, Arrow Gaming, etc.). And so, on GameFaqs, I started a thread so we can trade with each other on LotA. I figure, I'll prioritize them above others (except IRL friends, though I only know of 1 other person who bought a compendium).
Then I used Dota2lounge.com. Yeah, it made for some easy trades, but most of the people there are crazy, asking for 2:1's. Even saw some guy who was offering 3 immortals, and asking for 6 (forgot to get a screenshot, sorry). Luckily, someone on GameFaqs told me about steamep, and now, trading for player cards is a breeze.
Very self-explanatory. All the player cards are there, you can put a "have" tag for cards that you have and are willing to trade away, and a "want" tag for those you want to have. For cards you don't care about, or cards that you don't want to trade away, don't put a tag. Once you've done that seemingly tedious task, you go to settings on the right, and enter your Steam Trade URL, and put a check on the box for "Only show matches with a Steam Trade Offer URL." Now here's where the magic comes... click on "Matches".
Viola! You'll see a list of people who have the cards you want, as well as the cards that they want that you are willing to trade away. With that magic check box from earlier, you can immediately start trading away, even on a computer without Steam installed! Just take note of Steam Guard and standard safety measures. I'm actually trading stuff from work!
Try it. Make your lives easy. I'd put some screenshots in, but it's a bit more difficult doing it from my work computer. Maybe later.
