Today’s my 🎂 birthday 🎁 and I’m so thankful to all the amazing friends, family and my Instagram family and followers who’ve thought of me! I’m staying young and vibrant at heart (and on the surface). #360 #DoTheMaintenance I had my previous soccer cleats for close to year. Prior to that, my cleats would get damaged quicker. They would normally last 6 months or less. I guess it was a combination of my rough treatment of the cleats and the fact that I buy inexpensive ones. What changed? I started maintaining my cleats better. I keep a brush in the car and after each game, I'd brush off all of the excess dirt from the cleats so they could be nice and clean. That, I believe, made the difference. Regular maintenance. Now, I'm sure you conduct regular maintenance on things like your car and your house. (If you don't, you should.) And it's not necessarily because you always enjoy doing so but because you should. Because if you don't maintain it now, it's going to cost more to fix it later. Well, this not only applies to things but also to interpersonal relationships, especially with loved ones. What does regular maintenance mean to relationships? It means doing the seemingly little things regularly, like being appreciative with the other, listening intently during conversations, showing consideration, doing favors for them without being told, and more. Now, this doesn't mean that you must do everything all the time. You know your loved ones. Figure out how often is enough. Sometimes, you need to do it more regularly. Sometimes, less so. That's part of the maintenance you need to do. Sure. It takes time and energy, but what's the alternative? Your relationship will break down (just like a car) because you weren't up the task to maintain it at the appropriate time. You may be able to fix it but depending on the damage, it may never be the same again.
