#35 REVELATION, WORD, 5/2017 YOU ARE JESUS TO THEM
Acts 10:38 You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil, for God was with Him.
John 14:12 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go to the Father.
I believe that we, as Christians, are to be doing the works which Jesus did, including laying on of hands and praying for the sick to be healed. The two scriptures above are strong indications of this truth. My heart is so full when I see people struggling with physical infirmities and compassion pulls me to pray for them in their needs. But I find many thoughts enter which may limit my strength to go to them and offer to pray for them. Fear comes in many forms and hinders the will of the Lord.
I found myself in such a situation in recent months as I was out for my job doing marketing in a doctor’s office. I saw a young man in a wheel chair who was disabled with special needs. I felt such compassion and wanted to go to him and pray for him for healing. He reminded me of my sister’s son who is similarly challenged. But I rationalized that I was working and needed to complete my task. Besides, there were other people there and I was afraid to go over and put my hands on him in front of everyone. Fear of what people will think is a tool of the enemy to effectively stop us from taking action when God is so obviously pointing out a task He has for us to do.
So I did what I needed to do for work and left the office with regret that I did not go over to the young man. I lifted him up to the Lord as I left and spoke to God about how Jesus would have prayed for him and not walked by.
And then God gave me a most wondrous vision of Jesus, a figure of light in the form of the Man we know, kneeling in front of the wheelchair with a compassion and love shining through His smile. He was touching the young man and doing what I had felt led to do. And then He said to me, “You are Jesus to them!” All at once I saw myself kneeling in front of the young man and I was enclosed in that light that was the form, the presence of Jesus, which I had just seen!!! It was like He was superimposed around my body and we were one being!! Wow, what a precious vision of what is reality in the spiritual realm for us as Christians! We are one!!! When we feel led to pray for someone, we are simply the vessel He wants to use to do what He wants to do! It is the Holy Spirit power doing the work, not us!
It would have been easy for me to kneel in front of the young man who so needed prayer and the power of the Holy Spirit to flow through me as the Father’s works were to be made manifest. The enemy stopped me with fear and worry about how I would look. I am doing spiritual warfare to be free of any method and scheme of the enemy which would keep me from following the leading of the Lord. Remember “You are Jesus to them.” “Offer your body a living and holy sacrifice which is your reasonable spiritual service of worship.” Romans 12:1
