Day 95/100 #100daysofcreativewomen Ray Eames 1912-1988 American designer who with her husband Charles Eames, made significant historical contributions to the development of modern architecture and furniture. Among their most well-known designs is the Eames Lounge Chair. They also worked in the fields of industrial and graphic design, fine art and film. “Choose your corner, pick away at it carefully, intensely and to the best of your ability and that was you ,right change the world.” Ray-Bernice Alexandra Kaiser Eames was an American artist, designer, and filmmaker. Along with her husband Charles Eames she is responsible for groundbreaking contributions in the field of architecture, furniture design, industrial design, manufacturing and the photographic arts. She was born in Sacramento, California to Alexander and Edna Burr Kaiser, and had a brother named Maurice. Ray married Charles Eames in 1941. The design process between Ray and Charles was strongly collaborative. The couple moved to California to continue their molded plywood furniture design and, in a later period, plastic. “I never gave up painting, I just changed my palette.” - Ray Eames Ray Eames died in Los Angeles in 1988, ten years to the day after Charles. They are buried next to each other in Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis. Charles said: “Anything I can do, Ray can do better.”
Day 89/100 one of my favorites. #100daysofcreativewomen The spunky Ruth Gordon 1896 –1985 “Get up early in the morning before everybody has breathed up all the good air.” Ruth Gordon, was an American film, stage, and television actress, as well as a screenwriter and playwright. Gordon began her career performing on Broadway at age nineteen, but gained international recognition for film roles in her seventies and eighties. Her later work included performances in Rosemary's Baby (1968) and Harold and Maude (1971). Gordon wrote numerous plays, film scripts, and books, co-writing the screenplay for the 1949 film Adam's Rib. Gordon won an Academy Award, an Emmy, and two Golden Globe awards for her acting, and three Academy Award nominations for her writing. (wiki)

She was a member of the California-based Group f/64, known for its dedication to the sharp-focus rendition of simple subjects.
