hey! you've been a mutual follower of mine for a while now. everytime I see your avatar im always asking myself, "... what is that robot cat thing?" so... what is it? hope you have a nice day/night btw
Hey thanks, I hope you are having a nice day too!
And It’s a Zoid
hi! for that honest hour thing you reblogged, do you have any online friends from tumblr? if so, was it kinda weird first talking to them without feeling like "omg what if they don't respond back i mean we've never met each other but they seem cool ahhhhh"?
omg absolutely. heck i’m still like that with a lot of my friends and mutuals ahhhhhhh!! ;u; that’s exactly how i was even when it came to meeting my gf lindsay for the first time YEARS ago. heck i’m still too much of a timid pomegranate to talk to half of these amazing folks even now! ;u;
but every single one of these guys i’m following are the absolute BEST. period. they’re all such great folks with so many ideas and dreams and i wish the BEST for them. all of them! <3 <3 <3
Dear Mr. von Karma,
...Yes, sir. I’ll pack my things.

Dear Eveshowrtc,
Oh, cool. I had no idea. I usually get a birthday email from Tumblr but I don’t remember seeing anything.
Dear Inferno,
I couldn’t tell you. I guess we’ll find out next month when the game releases.

I don’t think Simon could handle the Proto Badger if I’m being honest.
I do play Pokemon Go and I’m on the superior Team Mystic.

The joke is that he’s going to kill them in their sleep.
Dear crazyarielxd,
I’ve had people redo the letter and request the one with the mistake be deleted. This has limited success as, when answering letters, I go from oldest to newest so I won’t see the request until I’ve already answered the other letter. It’s a simple enough process to swap them out, but depending on where I quit for the night and when you send the fixed letter, I might not see the new letter in a reasonable time.
Shih-na is hard to describe since we don’t really know her motivation. She seems to enjoy what she does and doesn’t exactly have loyalty to Alba, we can tell that much. I just know I really liked her as Calisto. She had panache.
Dear Anon,
I haven’t, but I have played a demo for the first game and I’ve seen parts of them played. I’ve heard good things but I’ve never actually gone through them myself.
Dear Dr. Swordfish-PHD,
Not a whole lot, honestly. I’ll look up the relevant answers but they’ll slide right out of my head once I’m done with them.
Dear Anonymous,
So he did. I’m not sure why that turned to strangling in my head. I guess because Zak himself was hit by a bottle and it was fatal.
Dear double03d,
Thank you very much!
I’m not the excitable, gushing type really, so I tend to keep things to myself. I will, however, always promote the series if I think a person would enjoy it.

I’m always down for fine art.
Dear thepudz,
It’s kind of scary sometimes. I’m not really qualified to be helping people with any serious problems and having to do it in character is even more difficult. Nevertheless, I just do the best I can. I’ve even gotten return letters saying that I’ve actually helped, at least a little bit. It’s rather humbling.
Dear Shadowbolt,
They could work around the Matt Engarde problem somehow, but it’s still a curious decision to ignore the Magatama. That’s a big part of the games and an iconic item to boot.
Chances are, Phoenix will just believe Engarde because of his refreshing, spring-breeze-like demeanor or something.
Dear Anonymous,
People will see what they want to see. It’s best to not let that influence your own perceptions, but I understand that can be difficult, especially when you see posts claiming how canon a romance is when the picture is just two characters standing next to each other or something.
Phoenix cares a great deal about his friends and people will have their own interpretations on that. Canonically, no ship is correct. The anime has given us symbolism of Phoenix and Edgeworth being linked by fate and some warm fuzzies between Phoenix and Maya, but nobody is dating here.
Dear officialyashkproductions,
I think Matt Mercer would do a good Troy Baker.
Dear James CyberLink,
Yes, I’ve used that sprite before. Trucy is indeed capable of being serious, but she hides most things behind a smile like a true performer. That’s the main point of Phoenix’s monologue at the end of AJ. He’s the one who has seen Trucy cry. Ordinarily, she’s relentlessly cheerful and upbeat.
I don’t remember seeing any art like that, but I do remember having some letters with broken artwork so I couldn’t answer them. I don’t know if any of those were yours, but it sounds like that might be it.
Dear Anonymous,
It’s a neat detail in Fulbright’s eyes, but it’s impossible to tell on the 3DS thanks to the resolution.
I don’t really have any good recommendations, though. I generally see art in the Ace Attorney tag here on Tumblr but, well, let’s be honest. A lot of it isn’t going to be what you’re looking for... or what I’m looking for either.

Dear eliaspsuedo,
I hadn’t seen the trailer until I went to answer this letter. I’ve never been as big on DC heroes as I have Marvel, but it looks pretty good to me. I might see it.
It’s still hilarious how they’re struggling to make Aquaman look cool. He talks to fish. He will never be cool.
Dear Bagadew,
They sure have. We are living in the Ace Attorney timeline right now.
It’s too late for Cinder Block, but we can save the others!

Dear Sunny,
It happened, but to avoid spoilers of a game with no official release, I won’t allow direct references. A little nudge and a wink is fine but don’t get explicit or leave me no way to talk around it.

Dear Anonymous,
Sort of, since the submitter’s name is a Xenoblade reference. Gant was making a play on “bionis-hope” since that’s the submitter’s username and the letter was about name play.
Dear double03d,
Does this count?

Dear Phoenix,
Something definitely needs to be done.
I mean, Maya’s almost as tall as you are in that picture. How unrealistic.
Dear Spark Brushel,
Please leave.
Dear jamie,
I wouldn’t say there’s anything “logical” about it but it’s still quite true.
Athena was 18 at least.
Dear saintdane05,
Well he sure didn’t look happy cosplaying as Raiden in DD. If anything, Apollo looks even younger in AA6 than he has before. By AA7 he’ll be so kawaii Pearl will look haggard and scruffy by comparison.
Dear James,

Dear Anonymous,
Toasty is his Klassic. There could be no other. I have to give the other two slots to both of his MKX Fatalities. It’s no secret Boon loves Scorpion and he definitely made sure his mascot ninja had some really good finishers.
As for Noob, I absolutely loved what they did with him in MK9, at least aesthetically. Make a Wish was one of the more disturbing Fatalities too. As far as him coming back, I doubt it for some reason. Like Jade, he was basically forgotten for MKX.
For voice actors, Steve Blum will eventually just do all of the male characters. He already did three in MKX.
Dear Bagadew,
Debates are not to be worshiped, but to be won. Clearly, to avoid misunderstandings, you should be as specific as possible. It’s a step-ladder. I cannot abide by loose terminology throwing intentions off course.
Dear Anonymous,
Of course! L.A. is known for its heavy, Japanese immigrant population. Actually, that’s not far from the localization reality you can read about here. The main bit is this:
When I took over the series’ localization direction starting with the second game, one of the first things I had to deal with was what to do with Maya’s hometown and all the mysticism surrounding the Fey clan. It was then that I created a little headcanon for myself (which I suppose is actually real canon now for the localized version): while “Gyakuten Saiban” takes place in Japan, the Los Angeles that “Ace Attorney” takes place in is an alternate universe where anti-Japanese sentiments and anti-immigrant laws were not enacted, and Japanese culture was allowed to flourish and blend into the local culture in the same manner as other immigrant cultures.
Basically, this is an alternate reality where cultures thrive.

Dear Anonymous,
That’s certainly one interpretation. I’ve said before that Iris is one of two reasonable romantic options for Phoenix if the writers decide to send him down that path. I think you all can guess the other one.
Though I don’t think you can say there’s “still” something strong on Phoenix’s end. He forced himself to get over Dahlia since he didn’t even know Iris existed. That “Nick and Iris kissing” bit was because Maya thought he was infatuated with her. Well, he was certainly distracted by her, but it was because he thought he had seen a ghost, so to speak.
Phoenix would have to start from scratch and overcome some big inner demons. She was always the person he thought she was but he’s not the same person he always was. He’s grown and matured a lot and his sappy, puppy-love side was badly damaged by Dahlia if not outright destroyed. If there’s love left for "Dollie” after all this time, Phoenix will have to be sure not to lay it on Iris out of some sense of “obligation”. That would never work in the long run.
Iris, however, undoubtedly still carries that torch. She’s had nothing to distract her from the relationship Dahlia both built and sabotaged while in the mountains and so absence has only made her heart grow fonder, I’m sure. She only hid her identity from Phoenix to not have him relive the pain she regrettably had a hand in.
It’s easy to believe she has high hopes for rekindling what they once had but I don’t think even she’s naive enough to believe it won’t take some work to clear the air. You could even interpret Phoenix “always having his eye on her” from her credits segment as both parts. She wants to believe that he’s looking at her lovingly but it could also be just him staring at her, trying to figure out who he sees.
Could they make it work? Yes, they probably could. Although, without some anime happy ending, it would take a lot of work to rebuild a relationship that was built on lies and torn apart by homicide and deceit and you have to remember that Iris hasn’t even been so much as mentioned since her debut game. They left the possibility of a Phoenix/Iris relationship open after T&T but there’s a lot stacked against it and further games without Iris even getting a namedrop only stacks more.
Dear Anonymous,
I think that’s perfectly fine, though I can’t agree with the last part primarily because I agree with the rest.
Phoenix and Maya aren’t a romantic couple in the games. You can see little flickers of more here and there, but they don’t act on them or just ignore them and continue on as extremely close friends or “family”. Pearl’s infatuation is explained by her desire for Maya to be happy and for Phoenix to be a man who doesn’t leave, though how she first got the notion of “special someones” is conveniently dodged.
Though what you do see is them getting closer and closer the whole time, culminating in T&T’s ending where Maya happily declares Nick as “one of them”. Where they go from there was left open. Phoenix’s disbarment could have been a breaking point. Maya nearly crumbling under stress to be Master could have been a breaking point. Even something simple and mundane could have been the final push, like Maya sneaking into the city in “real person” clothes and Phoenix seeing that “same ol’ Maya” in a totally new light.
So I don’t think it happening now would be fan service (unless they botched it) so much as it would be a continuation of the relationship they already built. We haven’t seen Maya on screen for eight, soon to be nine years now. They have essentially a blank slate with only our prior knowledge of her keeping her in line. If they did it now then it’s the perfect time. If they brought her back as “just a friend” for AA6 then abruptly changed it by the next game, then they would just be giving fan service because they already set her role and tried to backpedal. You know, like how DD tried to undo everything AJ did (although that was mostly a noble cause).
I guess what I’m saying is that it would actually feel more natural after all the build up instead of just some flash-in-the-pan “love at first sight” romance that you see all the time in fiction. Actually, that’s another reason I don’t really care for Phoenix/Iris. If the game actually ended with Phoenix having a girlfriend literally appear from nowhere I’d have been pretty disappointed. If something’s important, it has to be on screen for the player.
Dear Anonymous,
...Do people who say that even know what those words mean? Alright, a few words of my own.
Maya’s never even been portrayed as a child unless you count that picture in Misty’s locket... which you shouldn’t because literally everyone was a child at some point. Yeah, she was 17 in the first game, but there isn’t really support for any sort of romance with anyone in the first game and, even still, 17 isn’t a child. Besides, she was well over legal age in Japan if you want to get technical. I don’t, though, because legal age is 18 in the US and I’ll stick with that, thanks.
As for Phoenix being Maya’s boss (like she’s not his boss, right?), I suppose she’s technically “assistant manager” but it’s a two person operation. It’s not like Phoenix has anyone over him. He makes the rules. Self employed people have their significant others as part of their crew all the time. Then there’s the fact that Maya’s no longer employed at Wright & Co. after T&T. Neither is Phoenix, for that matter...
So that’s already too much writing about impotent trolling but that’s just because there’s so much wrong with it. I don’t think anyone is pushing for Phoenix/Maya game one, but that’s the beauty of it. It’s a relationship that builds more and more throughout the series. If it stays as friendship, fine. If it goes to the next level, also fine. I suppose we’ll see what’s up in AA6 which is probably what spawned the recent hate anyway. Insecure people are scared that Maya’s coming back with seemingly a large role and could “ruin their ships” and lashed out.
