Item #11: Double Decker Taco
I locked my keys in my apartment yesterday like a dumbass. I even looked right at them as I was getting ready and was like “I should put those in my purse right now,” but I didn’t. This isn't the worst thing in the world considering I live less than a mile from work, but it also proved logistically challenging, as Josh wasn't due to arrive home from work until after 9:30pm. After killing some time with @sarahprohibitionera and catching my free birthday movie at the Arclight, my knight in a Nissan Versa picked me up and took me to the Bell.
It seems ridiculous that I haven't reviewed the Double Decker Taco (henceforth referred to as the DDT) yet, as this might be one of my all-time favorite menu items. Reasons:
You enjoy the consistencies of both taco shell options at once
Great for those with FOMO
The utilization of refried beans as an adhesive
Excellent fire sauce retention (more crevasses)
The DDT is a very time-sensitive item. The crunchy shell is completely enveloped by refried beans on the outside, and stuffed with taco meat and fixins on the inside. There is a scant 12 minutes window to eat it before all crunchiness disappears and the item becomes completely homogenous in texture. Some may argue that this is a plus. I say it depends on your mood.
I wasn't in the driver’s seat so I didn't get a full sense of the drive thru service last night, but there was a healthy pile of fire sauce at the bottom of the bag, so I can only assume there was some star talent working. They did, however, give me a large Pepsi instead of the small Diet Pepsi that I ordered, which is a real rookie mistake. Have you tasted regular Pepsi?
