Sorry for the really dumb questions, I am just fascinated by and curious about the ending of Doubles’ first chapter. No need to answer fully any of them if it will contain spoilers. :) I read @ladamedusoif ‘s reblog. Is Peña code-switching? Is he one person … or is he a … twin? Is dolly an unreliable narrator? 👀

Hmm, how to answer this without spoilers? I will say that Peña is code-switching, a fascinating cultural and linguistic phenomenon that happens in both multi-lingual communities and within cultural groups. (For anyone curious about linguistic code-switching, you might start here.)

Dolly's narration will be an important thread throughout Double Dealings -- remember, she was unsure for a long time about telling her story. We can assume she has history with Peña given her name, but what it is, how it happened, and the ultimate reason she's decided to tell it now, despite the reservations of her son Frank... that's to be seen! To your other questions: Ezra is one person. A person who wants his club to succeed. And... he's willing to do a lot to ensure that happens.

Actually, not sure how clever I am …. I had already forgotten the poly V thing from the sneak peek (I read a LOT of fics yesterday😆) and thought Ezra and/or Javi had some kind of dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde thing going on. (Maybe so?). While I originally thought share with the audience but when I re-read it, I realized ooohhh “share.” Still think it’s a double entendre. Intrigue straight ahead! Excellent multilayered story. I am so hooked. Cannot imagine the research it took. PS Loving that Pauline works at a newspaper. I’ve rambled enough. Thank you!!

Dolly's thinking the same thing! She can't understand how this lovely man could suddenly switch off on her so fast! Wonder what she'll discover after a few more days at The Basement...

Ohhh, 'non, you are a clever reader. Surely Ezra only means he wants to enjoy Dolly's singing before she goes live with an audience at The Basement, right? 😉 I admit that Lucy (@stardustandskycrystals) and I have sort of ruined our own surprise, but that doesn't mean we won't enjoy the "suspense" while it lasts.
