Thursday, August 1: Doublestone, "Man on the Hill"

Doublestone balanced both the rock and metal ends of stoner, with other nods to ‘70s hard rock and metal implied, and “Man on the Hill” generally incorporated all of those elements to good effect. The Danish act wasn’t doing anything particularly distinct, but there was something fundamentally appealing about this sound that transcended borders and eras, so the track worked its angle even if there was something slightly underbaked in Doublestone’s approach.
