Few aircraft have impacted as many lives and made as much of a difference around the world as the venerable Douglas DC-3 / C-47. The DC-3 revolutionized air travel and transport when it was introduced in the 1930s and ‘40s. Over the years, many pilots have stated that the only plane that can replace a DC-3 is another DC-3... A claim to which there must be some credence, as even now, at over 70 years old, this type of aircraft is still a workhorse in many remote locations and austere environments around the globe. . . . . This particular airframe used to be operated by Catalina Flying Boats and was a staple in the skies over Long Beach, CA.
