Nessa: I'm a big fan. Um, and I have a question for Tom. Um, is there any truth to the rumors that you may have a cameo in the new Superman movie?

[Quote] Tom: Not that, so ah, it could be. But, no, I have no information supporting that allegation. [/Quote]

Robert laughs: Okay. So,...

Nessa: And, I have to ask if you maybe directing any Hellcats episodes?

[Quote] Tom: Oh, I would love to. I would love to. I can't wait to um continue to be a part of that. And, they shoot up in Vancouver, and ah, you know, Smallville shot up in Vancouver, so I know the city well. It's very dear to my heart. We have a lot of friends up there, who've, you know, some have become family. And, I ah, can't wait to get back up there. [/Quote]

Nessa: How wonderful. Um, I also, um, have a couple of websites um smallvillebuzz.net and tomwellingonline.net , so I'm a huge fan. [laughs]

Robert: I mean, it, and somebody just sent in a thing to me, while you were talking, and saying, 'he wasn't even asked. That sucks. Tom's portrayal of the bumbling Clark Kent was right on. He still should be considered to take the helm...

Jamie Laughs.

Robert: And, don the suit of the character he re, he remade famous.'.

[Quote] Tom: Oh, that's... [/Quote]

Robert: And, those are the kind of comments that are now coming in faster than my blackberry can, can handle.

[Quote] Tom: Aw, that's sweet. [/Quote]

Robert: I mean, it's really, it really is, you know, something that did for so many people around the world, revive, and also explain ah about the young Clark Kent and ah, my only thing I kept saying is you know, 'when are you gonna fly? When are you gonna fly?'? And, then, you know, one of your famous comments at a dinner was ah you know that you said something about ah 'no tights or no flights'. And...

Robert: And, so, you know, the question, the question is,  will you fly before the last show, or you're not going to tell?

[Quote] Tom: It's funny that you asked that. I was, you know, I'm doing, I'm doing some press over the next few weeks talking about the Finale and all these things, and I actually got an E-Mail from Warner Bros. politely requesting that that's a question I can't answer. [laughs] [/Quote]

Robert Laughs: Oh, really?

[Quote] Tom: Yeah. Um, but I, but I will say this that what we do. The final image of what you'll see at the end of Smallville. When I think of it, it makes me so proud, and it gave me, it just makes the hair on my arms, um... [/Quote]

Robert: Stand up.

[Quote] Tom: Stand up because I think it's something that people've wanted to see for a long time, and I, and I hope that it'll fulfill what they've been waiting for. [/Quote]

Robert: Yeah. Cause it's not easy. And, especially for somebody that's been an addict like myself and watching like all these people that are younger than yourself on the show. Like your cousin, and there was some guy last week from the future, and he's flying around just cause his suit could fly I think, or something?

[Quote] Tom: Yeah. Yeah. [/Quote]

Robert: And, you're looking at him going you know, 'okay. You can do that, but I still can't do that.'.[laughs]

[Quote] Tom Laughs. [/Quote]

Robert: And, I have to say. I loved the very ending of the show where he says, 'and you know what, you just gotta stop calling yourself The Blur because it's just not a good name'. And, you need to call yourself something that's ah, 'well, like, what's on the logo of your, your shirt? Something Super?'.

[Quote] Tom: Yeah. [/Quote]

Robert: And, the look on your face when you said, 'well, I'll think about that. We'll brainstorm about that.', right?

[Quote] Tom: Yeah. That comment was so, ah, multilayered because that was the character of Booster Gold, who, you know, had come back from the future, so he actually knows what Clark becomes. [/Quote]

Robert: Right. Right.

[Quote] Tom: But, at the same time, he understood that, you know, Clark had to find out for himself. But, he was just, he was just sort of giving him that little push over the edge. [/Quote]

Robert: But, it wasn't something that you were that interested in for yourself, and would you say that ah, you have, um, sort of an interest in breaking from that one character for your future?

[Quote] Tom: Well, I hope to play many different characters in what I'd like to think will be a career in this business. Um, and I, from what I understand, they're taking just a different take on the character itself. I don't know what they story line's going to be. I'm sure it's going to be great. I mean, Christopher Nolan, you know, he doesn't do anything that's not the best. [/Quote]

Jamie: Incredible. Yeah.

[Quote] Tom: Um, yeah. I mean, I'm a huge fan of what he's done with Batman, and he resurrected that character, I think, um, for everyone, for me especially. Um, so, it was something that, you know, I wasn't asked to play the character. I don't think that, I don't know if I was considered or not. Um, I just know they went in a different direction, and I, and I can't wait to see what they do with it. [/Quote]

Robert: Yeah. It will be very very interesting. But, I will tell you this that I can, I think, in all honesty that it's a good thing no matter what because if you play that role not only ten years, but then play it in movies, It's very. It's, I mean, I'm not saying that they're aren't actors, great actors, that go on, and play other roles and do fantastic things, but ah, I think that William Shatner for instance, from Star Trek, he knew, that was a three year gig in Star Trek and still playing today on, on so many different channels. And, then he went ahead and did some of the movies, but he was able to sort of branch out and become so great on Boston Leagal, so great on other shows. And, I, you know, I can see you having that kind of longevity, and that kind of career.  

Jamie: We, we just um...

[Quote] Tom: Well, ah, thank you. [laughs] [/Quote]

Jamie: We, just in the last year, we have our own production company, and we have some um, we have one show on the air right now called Hellcats, which has been very successful. And, um, a lot of fun. And, we have...

Robert: What's that about?

Jamie: Tom, go ahead.

[Quote] Tom: Ah, it's about, ah, cheerleaders in highschool. And, um, the, the world of cheerleading is what brings these characters together, but it's really driven by the characters of um these, of teammates, who are trying to figure out what there place is in the world. [/Quote]

Robert: Interesting. And, what's that...

[Quote] Tom: Yeah. [/Quote]

Robert: What, what channel is that on? Or, how do you, how do you watch that?

[Quote] Tom: That's on The CW Network. It's on the channel. [/Quote]

Robert: It's on CW as well?

[Quote] Tom: Yeah. Yeah. [/Quote]

Jamie: Mmhmmm.

Robert: Awesome. Hellcats. Okay. I'll look into that.

Jamie: So, that's been really exciting. And, then, we, you know, we have a couple of other really interesting, really interesting projects, a movie, and another possible tv show, so..

Robert: That's great. You were telling me about a project for yourself, Jamie, too.

Jamie: Mmhmmm.

Robert: The last time, maybe six months ago, I think. You were talking to me about, about a possible project for yourself that entailed food and other kinds of things. Is that still in the works?

Jamie: Ah, my dream, my dream tv show. Yeah. [laughs]

Robert: Yeah? [laughs]

Jamie Laughs: It's still just a dream.

Robert: I loved it though. It was...

Jamie: I know. Me too. You know, and I watch Anthony Bourdain religiously every single night. I mean, it's the guide now. I actually would love to bring him to um, where I grew up on Martha's Vineyard someday, so...

Robert: Yeah. Yeah.

Jamie: I would love to show him around. But, basically...

Robert: But I think that would be fun, and you're so good at all of that kind of stuff, you know, that it would be fun.

Robert: So, um, I have a bunch of other questions too. But, I want to at least allow a couple of people to, to ask a question because they're so many people that have questions for you, Tom, um, and, I'm sure some for you too, Jamie, about what you're doing with, with the horses, and where your going, but I know too on your.. People knew that it was your birthday, Tom, before I did, and started sending in things to my website: doversworld.com saying, 'well, you know Tom, on the head of his fan club here in Spain, and, I wanna wish him a Happy Birthday even if I can't call in at, at 2 o clock in the morning.'. Sooo..

Jamie: I'll show you them, Tom. When you come home, there's a bunch on line, on Robert's website actually.

Robert: Yeah. And, um, I do, I do wanna at least, there's a, there's a guy that's been waiting now for sixteen minutes and thirty-one seconds [16:31].

Jamie: I'm here.

Robert: So, we'll let him on right quickly. Curtis, are you with us?

Curtis: Hey.

Robert: Hey. How you doing? What's your question or comment?

Curtis: Well, first of all, hey Tom and Jamie.

Jamie: Hello.

Curtis: I'm talking to my dude. Um, yeah. I've been a fan of this show for like, since I was a, a freshman in highschool. Actually, you know, Clark is pretty much the same age as me, so, um, it's cool. It's like the same journey. I'm kind of excited to see how it ends and everything. Um, I just wanted to know like a if you have like a favorite memory or something. Ah, from a, from the set?

[Quote] Tom: Um, a favorite memory. Yeah. I think when, when I was able to go to New York and work with, when a, Christopher Reeve was on the show, a few seasons back. That was probably, that's number one by far. [/Quote]

Curtis: Yeah.

[Quote] Tom: Probably, one of the most memorable experiences that I had on the show, he was, he was terrific. And, some people don't know that he was only allowed by his doctors to work eight hours, and he wouldn't let them um take him away from set, and he worked ten and a half hours that day. [/Quote]

Curtis: Wow.

[Quote] Tom: Yeah, um. It was really special. [/Quote]

Curtis: That's awesome, man. And, I, ah, just want to let you know that I ah, um, I was at your last Comic Con Panel, last year. I was one of those, ah crazy people that slept outside over night.

[Quote] Tom: Oh, well, I...[laughs] I wouldn't refer to you as crazy. [/Quote]

Curtis laughs.

[Quote] Tom: I just think it's terrific. Um, Comic Con, is, it's such a cool room to be in. What is it, like six thousand, [6,000] people? [/Quote]

Curtis: Yeah.

[Quote] Tom: And, ah, man, it's like, being up on that stage with you, and the other fans out there, it was such a, such a great environment. Such a, such like, warm energy from all you guys, I really enjoyed it. [/Quote]

Curtis: Yeah. I enjoyed it too. Well, thanks a lot, Tom. It's an honor to get to talk...

Robert: And, thank you Curtis for your call, okay?

Robert: And, so, Tom, tell us this, when Entertainment Weekly came out, and they were, ah, looking to see, who would be the, the number one vote from the public. For the movie, ah, Superman that is going to be made now. And, I think about sixty percent [60%], of the American public voted for you to play Superman. They thought that no one else could do it like you, and it just didn't make any sense for it to be anyone else. And, yet, um, you were not really that interested, or tell us a little bit about your ideas with regard to Superman and with regard to, ah, your future?

[Quote] Tom: Well, first in being it my birthday, um that's a great gift to hear cause I actually hadn't heard that before. Um, so that's, that's the first time I heard that, so that's actually pretty special. Um... [/Quote]

Robert: You don't read Entertainment Weekly?

[Quote] Tom: I, ah, I apparently missed that one. [/Quote]

Robert Laughs.

[Quote] Tom: Missed that one. Um... [/Quote]

Jamie Laughs.

Robert: It is the truth. I will tell you, that is the truth.

[Quote] Tom: It's ah, with, you know, this is the second film that was made, um or is, will be made in sort of since I've played Clark Kent, and um, you know, the decisions that go into that. I'm not a part of that side of it. But, I know it was very complicated due to where I was and being on set and being on a television show. And, ah, um, you know, I, for me, I can't wait to see it. I think they have a dream team with everybody involved. I think it's going to be a fantastic movie. Um, and I'm just as excited to see it as everybody else. [/Quote]

Robert: And, not only is it coming to an end. And, of course, I have to admit to you. I didn't even know you when the show started, and I have been since childhood, which is just a little bit older than you.

Jamie chuckles.

Robert: That, I have been, a you know, a big addict of everything Superman. So, when I heard that there was gonna be a show about the young Clark Kent, and how he learns that he is who he is. I watched from the very first show. And, I...

[Quote] Tom: Thank you. [/Quote]

Robert: And, of course, I've kept waiting and waiting and waiting as you've grown older on and off the stage for that magical moment when you go flying through the air. And, ah...

[Quote] Tom Laughs. [/Quote]

Robert: So, you know, there's just a couple more, more episodes, right?

[Quote] Tom: Yeah. Very few more to go, which I'm sorry to say for the fans out there, but there's, there's ten years of um, ten seasons of DVDs out there if you want to revisit the past. [/Quote]

Robert: And, is it, I'm sure it's going to be like, so many of these other shows that just go into syndication and be on for years and years and years on a lot of channels, right?

[Quote] Tom: Yeah. Hopefully, it wall reach even more countries. Um, I'm always curious as to what my voice sounds like in places like Jordan, when the show airs. [/Quote]

Jamie laughs.

[Quote] Tom: And, maybe we'll be able [slight laugh] to get an answer to that. [/Quote]

Robert: You know, I have to say. I love subtitles in some of these other countries.  

[Quote] Tom Laughs. [/Quote]

Robert: Like, in Holland, you go, and it will still be you talking, and there would be subtitles. But, you go to Germany, like an hour away, and they've got some German doing your voice, and it just sounds weird.

[Quote] Tom: It's probably deep and like manly. [/Quote]

Jamie: Like you really have a sexy German accent, Tom, don't worry.

[Quote] Tom Laughs. [/Quote]

Robert: Does he?

Jamie Laughs: Yes.

Robert And Jamie Laugh.

Jamie Laughing: No.

Robert: No. Or, in, you know, or in Chinese or whatever, or Manderin, you know, I just think there's something that's going to be missing if it's not your voice. But, um, I do want to, you know say I, I, first, I was so happy that I could be there for this wonderful party that Jamie put on for you couple of weeks ago your retirement party, or...

Jamie Laughs.

[Quote] Tom Laughs. [/Quote]

Robert: Or, unemployment party, should we call it?

Jamie: Mmhmmm.

[Quote] Tom: Yeah. [/Quote]

Robert: Which is going to be very short-lived. But, um, ah...

[Quote] Tom: The only surprise party I've ever had thrown for me in my life. [/Quote]

Robert: And, were you completely surprised?

[Quote] Tom: I, I, spent half, I mean, probably the entire night, I'm still a little bit shocked that it happened. I had no idea. I, I can only imagaine what I looked like walking through that door because initially, I thought, 'oh, I know all these people, and why are they throwing Jamie a party?'? [/Quote]

Robert Laughs.

Jamie Laughs.

[Quote] Tom: Then it, um, then it dawned on me, that Jamie is actually throwing the party for me, so it definitely caught me by surprise. It was, it was terrific. [/Quote]

Robert: Yeah. And, Jamie, you are amazing. I mean, the party, first of all, is beautiful. And, how did you, how were you able to pull that off, that, that you were able to put all that together, Jamie?

Jamie: You know...

[Quote] Tom: Well, I can tell you what, her IPhone helped... [/Quote]

Jamie Laughs.

[Quote] Tom: Because we drove down from Vancouver for two days, um, after the show wrapped. And, she was on her phone...[/Quote]

Jamie: No. The IPad.

[Quote] Tom: Literally, the entire time. [/Quote]

Jamie: I was on the IPad.

[Quote] Tom: And, I was like, 'what are you doing? Why are you on your phone?'? [/Quote]

Jamie Laughs.

[Quote] Tom: So, she was able to, that was one way for sure. [/Quote]

Robert: Yeah. Those IPads and IPhones are amazing. What you can get away with, right?

Jamie: You know, Robert, we all laughed so hard because my cousin, and another friend of ours actually put it all together, and we were just shocked that every moment that Tom didn't catch on. I mean, I barely get dressed up. Like, you know...

[Quote] Tom: You know, what the trick was. They never lied...[/Quote]

Jamie: Just like functions... [laughs]

[Quote] Tom: And, they never tried to trick me. [/Quote]

Jamie: Yeah. We didn't.

[Quote] Tom: Like, at every point...[/Quote]

Jamie: We didn't.

Robert: So, you mean, are you saying that you have, that you have, that you are not inquisistive one little bit.

Robert And Jamie Laugh.

Robert: I mean,

[Quote] Tom: Well, I knew. Well, the thing was. There was a big... [/Quote]

Jamie Laughs.

[Quote] Tom: Big dressage event over in Burbank. [/Quote]

Robert: Right.

[Quote] Tom: So, I knew they'd be people in town. I knew that every night there would be, you know, these celebrations and these dinners, so I knew that every night we would be going out. It's just a matter of where and when... [/Quote]

Robert: Uh-huh.

[Quote] Tom: And how late we found out where to show up to. And, so, they kind of had that going for themselves, where I, I was already in the mind of going out. [/Quote]

Robert: Yeah.

[Quote] Tom: But, looking back, there were some tell tale signs that I definitely over looked. [/Quote]

Robert: Yeah.

[Quote] Tom: And, I won't next time. [/Quote]

Robert Laughs.

Jamie: We have a good chuckle about it actually. [laughs]

Robert: Well, I think it was a beautiful party, Jamie, that you threw. And, ah...

Jamie: Thank you.

Robert: You know, it was, it couldn't have been in a more pretty location too, looking out all over L.A. from, from the balcony there, it was gorgeous. And, you do a great job. So, anytime you wanna throw me a party, I, I know, you know, just so you know, you're, you're welcome to do it, okay?

Robert: And, then, Tom, before we go any further, I, I didn't even know when I asked Jamie if you guys would be on the show that it was a special day for you. And, because it was a special day, I thought, well, who could I get, and then I thought, maybe Marilyn Monroe, but then...

Robert: That didn't work out so well.

Robert: Because they're too many people in the background of that one, so instead, I got this for you right now, so here we go.

Robert: I know you. Jamie says,'he never does interviews. He hates interviews.'. But, I'm just really really thankful that you're here because I just love both you guys, and, ah. And, so.

Robert: I love it. And, so speaking of which then, so since this is, this isn't an interview, we're just chatting amongst friends with about twenty people lighting up my board from all over the world just by the way.

Jamie: It's incredible. I ah, I'm gonna interrupt for a second. I just want to. Um, and Tom, I'll show you all this when you get home. People from Jordan and Greece and Australia and Equador and France. I mean, it's just incredible. I mean, the show, I just...

Jamie: I don't think we realized it when we were in it. And, now, just like, you know, finally settling and being able to look back on those years. It's just incredible. The fans, for Tom, and you know, the things that they ever send me, which is, you know.

Robert: No! No!

Robert: The truth is, Tom, honestly...

Robert: I did not know that your show showed in. Your show played in Jordan. And...

Jamie: Well, I don't know. No. I mean, he has fans because they're on...

Robert: They're...

Jamie: They're sending me Facebooks, and I mean, it's just incredible.

Robert: Yeah. It's, it's so great. And, we're going to get to some of them. Because, I, I promised some of em that they're going to get to say Happy Birthday to Tom. [laughs] And, so in a few minutes, I'm gonna, gonna,let a couple of em say Happy Birthday cause if they're calling all the way at 03:20 in the morning...

Robert: From Jordan. Or, from Spain. Or, from Greece or from Australia. I can't say no to those kind of people, you know. And, I mean, you truly have created a fan base that is out of the ball park. And, um, did you know it was going to be like that when you took on the, the job of Clark Kent?

[Quote] Tom: Well, early on,  I think that, I think there were a lot of people, who thought that, you know, at least internally with the show that we had something special. And, we had, people like Peter Roth, who was the head of the Warner Bros' Television Studio. I mean, he was a big champion of ours. And, and even up until, you know, the last day of ten seasons. I mean, everybody just really felt connected and really felt like they were part of a family, and um you know, like I said, it was really a special experience. And even at the end, it's hard to believe it's actually come to an end. [/Quote]

Robert: So, that's great news, right?

Jamie: Yeah. I mean, he's pretty incredible. And, I'm so lucky to be able to have a horse like this. I mean, anybody would be.

Robert: Yeah. I bet.

Jamie: And, reminding with Debbie's, it's so much fun, and we've been having a really good time.

Robert: I'm so...

Jamie: So, thank you. Thank you for making that happen.

Robert: Well, I'm just so glad that it did because, you know, you were sort of wondering, do I go there or do I go here with my horses, and when the idea...

Jamie: Well, because I knew back in California, after being, um, in Canada, in Vancouver for the last ten years, so yeah, so it's pretty exciting to be back, and you know, be in one place for a while, so.

Robert: Yeah. And, you truly have been all over the place this last year. I know, you were in Europe riding, you were in, of course, up in Vancouver with Tom, who I think, do we have Tom back on the air, now?

Robert Laughs: Don't worry at all. That kind of stuff happens every, that happens with my mother, to tell you the truth constantly.

Robert: So, it's not a big deal. But, we were just talking with Jamie about how, you know, not only has she been up in Vancouver to see you, she's been in Europe riding. She's been in, down to LA, riding, cause I've seen her there. And, Jamie, so now, are you pretty well settled now for the time being.

Jamie: Ah, I think so. I will keep you up to date.

Robert: You know, I still have this huge hope that you're going to be winning your way East with the horses for what I know is going to be the a true new era in the sport of Dressage out here in Wellington, when we hold on the finest venue, one of the finest venues probably ever built, but certainly the finest venue in in North America, the new series that we're going to be holding this winter. So, I certainly am hoping...

Jamie: I absolutely...

Robert: That you're out here for that.

Jamie: Yeah. I'm planning on it.
