Sparsely-produced, slightly melancholy jam from Jemimah Violence; this girl's songwriting is on point.
I'm a fan of your blog! I just wanna know if you can recommend me books in Tagalog preferably something that containts pre-hispanic history of Philippines, the language, and the economy, etc. Also, I would like you to know that coincidentally, I've named my first bike Ligaya and my zine that name too. I love its meaning and what I feel when I hear that word :) I'm Jemimah by the way.
Thank you! :)
And I actually made a reference post with a list of online sources all on our Pre-Colonial history. You can find that masterpost here. They aren't in Tagalog because more than half of those online sources are translated from the original Spanish texts of the written historical accounts. I believe there is one for Tagalog (there has to be) but I haven't found any online.
For language I guess you can check out the first and oldest dictionary and printed book in the Philippines the Vocabulario de Lengua Tagala by Pedro de San Buenaventura in 1613. You can find that online here of an 1860 reprint of the original book. There are words in there that aren't used today and are considered deep Tagalog, some even words that we don't use in favor of either Spanish or English loan words, and other words that we don't just use.
Haha. Well I've picked Ligaya to call myself because that is pretty much the translation of my actual name. I plan to name my kids with indigenous Filipin@ names. And its nice to meet you Jemimah! C:
dovves replied to your post: can we all just agree that if you’re driving home...
mine turned out to be a cop
Goodness, especially if you think it might be a cop! Haha, you do not want a cop following you…at any hour of the day.
