Can we all appreciate this one scene in Downfall where Eva announced the party in the Reich Chancellery and Burgdorf actually ran to the front on the line whooping like a child. This is a 50 year old man and he is literally a blur on the screen going woowoowoowoo!!!

Downfall/Der Untergang is one of my most watched WW2 movies but I often think that parts of other films covering the last few days of the Battle of Berlin were indeed better.

I mean all versions of the story should include General Krebs in his underwear as standard.

Some Krebsdorf “fanart” I was I was inspired to make when @littledesertfox first mentioned she was writing a beach fic. Please check it out beach-holiday-littledesertfox-der-untergang.

Sadly this wasn’t taken in Italy or Croatia like in the story but on Perranporth beach, UK.

The two small rocks out at sea are known locally as Man and His Man. The name was meant originally in a master/servant context but with a modern meaning it seems fitting for Krebs and Burgdorf.

Burgdorf, who held the position of Chief of Army Personal Office and adjutant for the army to Hitler made a remark about purging Catholic officers.

When General Heinrici, commander of the army group which included General Busse’s 9th Army, travelled to Hitler’s bunker in 1945 to report on the situation of the 9th Army, his pleas were ignored by Hitler and mocked by Burgdorf.

I’ve just had a weeks holiday in Finland where it was lovely and snowy and I spent my time there writing about my favourite doomed generals.

I apologise that my other fic is really depressing and probably more so now if you read this one first. I can’t seem to be able to write fluff - I blame the emo era I grew up in, we ate up this kind of stuff for breakfast.

Another cringy title - I hate giving them names - It was very nearly called Brokeback Krebsdorf 🙈
