BB-52 Downspiral DX Set

Haven't talked about a BeastBox in a while. A lot of more time-sensitive releases or theme months, etc. But I've got a few of these guys in the backlog, and I want to talk about them!

The Good: A fairly simple transformation at first glance with just the right level of minor complexities. It's got a good deal of posability, with six articulated legs, and a spinney drill head. It's also the first BeastBox I've handled with a second mode, this one being a rocket. It's very simple, but a nice inclusion, and the added base in the SP version does add a lot to it.

Speaking of the accessory, it's pretty neat. There're multiple ways to orient it, it folds and stacks neatly like most Beast Box accessories, and if you have more than one you can build quite a bit with it. Don't know how you'd get more than one without buying more than one Downspiral, but that's a different issue.

Fun Fact: Octopus and squids have legs, not tentacles. Squids do have two tentacles, but they're only the longer legs with tentacles at the ends. If a limb has tentacles running down its entire length, it's considered a leg.

The Bad: I'm a little worried about the very tip of the head. It's a bit thinner than the other parts, and it feels like it could flex easily.

Overall, a good release. It's a simpler BeastBox, but a fun one.

                   When Hope had returned to school, Klaus remained in New Orleans, still residing in the compound there. Life had been a little more QUIET since things had returned to a relative normal. Hope was without her mother, but Klaus did his best to fill the roles of both parents, and he found that he had a lot of help from his siblings. Hope was everything he wasn’t and people loved her for it. Even he was PROUD.

The holiday break saw him utilize the Mikaelson mansion in Mystic Falls once again, opening its doors to his family and Hope. It was a warm Christmas, though a bit melancholy without Hayley there. It was also far too short and soon the teenaged girl was headed back to school and Klaus’s siblings left to their corners of the world. He was ready to head back to Louisiana the next day, but for the time being, he found himself LONELY in the silent and large walls of the opulent mansion.

The Mystic Grill : there never existed a more INSIPID social atmosphere in Klaus’s opinion. Its decor was bland enough to be done by a bored middle class housewife, the bourbon collection seemingly picked out by a college-aged kid who’d barely begun to drink alcohol, and the food left much to be desired. However, it’s perhaps the only place in town to see any sort of ACTION and that’s exactly where the hybrid found himself headed on his last night in town.

Woe was him when he spotted someone FAMILIAR at the bar. He should have known better. There was hardly anyone in town he’d recognize that he’d actually enjoy. Slipping into the empty barstool next to the vampire, Klaus eyed the liquor selection in the small hopes that it had grown. It hadn’t.  ❝ Well, well. If it isn’t my least favorite Salvatore, ❞ he said before finally putting his gaze on Damon. A wry smile was plastered on his face and his eyes held their usual scheming twinkle.

spirits, but she wants to just let go, let herself not worry about anything or anyone and have some fun. but bonnie isn’t built like that. she’s built to worry and fret, because clearly, no one else is doing it.

and by no one else, she means damon. who is the absolute worst ever. she tells him as much. “you know, as my best friend, you should care about what I want to do too. not drag me out when I’m telling you this is a terrible idea.” because really, the last time had started off well enough, but by the end, there had been a fight. and yes, punching a douchebag is a little bit therapeutic, but she’s trying to avoid fights. not cause them. and with damon around, the chances of him getting into a fight is high. she loves him - most of the time - but even she finds him annoying on a good day. especially right now.

bonnie tells him that too. “if elena and caroline were here, i’d be more worried about being dragged on triple dates. not someone maybe accidentally or not being murdered.” she would have had a lot more girls’ days and shopping trips and mani-pedis, and now she was missing her best friends, her sisters, and why did damon have to bring them up?

“can’t we just like, watch really bad action movies so i can pretend my two closest friends right now aren’t my old high school history teacher and you?”

it becomes tradition. any time she thinks it --- and honestly, it happens a terrifying amount --- they drink. long enough, and enough enough until the rest of it dulls away. because those words? that thought? at least they can agree it’s the most pathetic thing on the entire planet. at least they have each other. she’d like to go back in time, tell shivering, terrified, crying caroline forbes that someday her saving-fucking-grace in this world would be the man that did this to her. nearly. kind’ve. so they drink. and it becomes more bearable. and the world gets less empty. and she actually doesn’t really mind it. and when you get past the deep, deep, deep, deep, deep, deep layers of cocky bullshit, he’s kind’ve interesting.  ❝ okay, ❞  caroline leans forward, hair falling in her face as she narrows her eyes at him, one finger uncurling from her glass to point at him.  ❝ i gotta know, ❞  she pauses, staring at him, eyes narrowing.  ❝ did you fuck alaric? ‘cause you guys had some definite, y’know.  t e n s i o n. ❞          /          @downspiral​   +   you liked the post. you opened yourself up for this. caroline is now going to ask him All Of The Questions.
