This is a scary time to be a Muslim or Arab or even just to be a darker skin tone. I've got some people I grew up with saying nasty things over these recent attacks and more specifically about taking in #Syrian refugees. I want you to know that when you feed ignorance and fear rather then humanity and compassion, you yourself become the demon. If you're talking smack about Arabs, Muslims, Syrians, just remember you're talking about me and most likely about yourself. This country was founded on immigrants. You are one too if you live here and are a citizen(even if you're not a citizen). The trumps of this world will have you believe otherwise, and these events that occur only add fuel to their flames of hatred. I will not partake and I will not stand idly by as you insult the human race. Choose your words wisely and remember if you claim yourself Christian, Muslim, Jew, Buddhist, Hindu, than you know better than anyone about compassion, forgiveness, and more importantly selflessness. Hate and fear only cause genocide. It's happened before, and that's what makes me scared to be living in a world that is increasingly looking at me with suspicion. I'm your friend, I'm your neighbor, I'm your lover. I'm a proud #Moroccan a proud #American and a proud citizen of this world and its pursuit of #peace no matter how hard that might seem.
