“I don’t think people come up here to find company,” he stated, not bothering to turn around to see who it was. He was too distracted to care, only heeding the crumpled letter ( from his mother ) clenched in his hands.
“Rookwood needs to stop scheduling so many damn Quidditch practices,” Micah muttered to no one in particular. “I literally feel like I’ve gone twelve rounds with the Whomping Willow and then had to duel the bloody Giant Squid.”
& the wound heals but the scar remains. there is a headstone hidden under the shade of a yew tree in a cemetery on the outskirts of moscow. the years etched into the stone are wrong; not inaccurate but w r o n g. they are far too close together, the boy buried underneath it having died far too y o u n g. [ here lies MIKHAIL DOLOHOV beloved son and brother. покойся с миром ]
it has been ten years since his death & still, the pain threatens to eat him alive. forgotten memories; thoughts laden with guilt & [ sᴏʀʀᴏᴡ ], & the sense of complete hopelessness that had once consumed him have clawed their way back to the surface.
calloused fingers wrap around the bottle of vodka & raise it to his lips, draining its contents before allowing the bottle to slip through his fingers & shatter against the cracked pavement underneath his feet. the shards of glass at his feet mirroring his current state; full of broken thoughts he cannot repair. the sound of dry, windblown leaves being crushed beneath feet pulls him out of his reverie & antonin instinctively retracts his wand from his pocket & aims it at the broken glass, muttering a quick vanishing spell under his breath.
‘ & they shall come, like a thief in the night. ‘ azure hues turn towards the figure, silently assessing the individual. ‘ isn’t it past your bedtime? ‘
It was late-- definitely later than she should be out on the Hogwarts grounds. But, once again, she had been plagued by a restless night and craved the fresh air. She didn't much have a destination and had found herself aimlessly at the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest. As she walked just outside the trees, she couldn't help but shudder at the gloomy appearance that the forest seemed to hold. She was just about to move away from them when she heard a loud SNAP of a twig behind her. The blonde turned on her heel to face whomever ( or whatever ) had followed her. Her eyes squinted as the light from her wand now flooded the area behind her and she tried to make out the figure that stood against the light. " If you were planning to sneak up on me, then you probably should have watched where you stepped, " She spoke.
He had fallen asleep. It was rather understandable since he had been diving into his History of Magic reading assignment. Sturgis never found himself quite interested in the subject. Like Muggle history, it was a bit too dry for his liking. Soon, however, a noise had announced another's presence and woke him with a start. " Wha-- what is it!? " He slurred as he jolted up.
“I think everyone was far too excited in class about the prospect of successfully brewing love potions. Is romance truly that dead?”
Amelia’s normal morning walks were taken with meandering leisure, something to enjoy. Today, however, she felt as if she were coming out of her skin, things around her moving far too fast to predict. The blockades she’d made among others to keep herself safe were being rewritten, the future unclear, & it was making her anxious. She felt a clawing desire to be away, & so she’d slipped out of the castle long before most were awake. It was a fogged, chilly morning, not a person in sight -- though she wouldn’t see them from far away with all that mist, anyway. She thought that would be what she needed, but as she walked along the forest’s edge, she felt more lonely than ever.
The sound of grass being crushed beneath feat sounded somewhere behind her, & she whirled, frowning. “Who’s there?” Whatever she felt, the thought of someone seeing her when her walls were fragile was a daunting one. She almost felt the need to draw her wand. “Hello?”
