R.I.P, Doyle Brunson
Doyle Brunson passed away May 14th. He was 89.
There are several names in the poker world that have the term "Best Ever" attached to them. Chip Reese, Phil Helmuth, Phil Ivey. But, if you ask any of them, they'll all say that the greatest poker player of all time is Doyle Brunson. Texas Dolly. The Grandfather of poker. Winner of every poker championship in the world, including the World Series of Poker (many times).
I chose this photo of him (above) for this post because this is how he appeared almost all of the time: smiling. Those who knew him or had the pleasure to meet him all said the same thing: Doyle was unfailingly nice, polite, generous with his time, happy to sign autographs. He was a poker legend, and a very nice guy. He will be missed by many.
RIP, Texas Dolly.
When luck shuts the door, you got to go in through the window.
