Black Farce
Do retailers think that we are gullible to all the sales hype, it is not just this week, but any time they “offer” a sale, it is mostly BS.
There are laws to protect the consumer but I believe that these are not extensive enough, and those that exits should be more stringently enforced.
In the past sales were to shift stock that has low demand, I suggest that once an item has been marked down as a sale item, its price can not be increased, so either the item is given away or destroyed. This will reduce the amount over greedy overstocking in an attempt to make huge profits for the ideal executives whilst the shop floor staff get poorly treated with minimum wage.
Come on people, smell the coffee and ask yourself “Do I really need this” or you can be a trend setter and go for repairing and reusing and being proud of the provenance of what you have. Let's go for long-lasting quality goods rather than the cheap shoddy throwaway goods which so many of us have got used to and accepted.
Keeping up with (insert group here) is not fashionable and tends to be to the detriment of your pocket.
I am here working on a refurbished pc, adding extra disks as my storage needs increase, and when disks fail, I strip them down and reuse the parts for all sorts of projects, if a piece is not function it becomes a part of some artwork.
So let us go back to the farce, and learn from a time before supermarkets where traders were small and the service was personal, but you cry “I do all my shopping on line” well you still can, there are many small traders out there just waiting to serve you.
