Adlibs ✿ dpr live (dabin) x female reader
synopsis -> you visit dabin during a late night studio sesh.
You glanced at the time on your phone, closing your book. You had been waiting for a text or call from your boyfriend who was working away at his studio. You were supposed to go to his apartment after his session but your boredom has made you quite restless. You decide to just surprise him at his studio.
You quickly get up and put your jeans back on, gathering your things together before making your way out the front door of your own apartment. You hummed happily, excited to see the light of your life. No one would’ve ever expected you both to be together, even his label mates felt the same, but they loved you more than anything. You were a pretty bold person, weren’t afraid to speak your mind. A lot of people labeled you as a bitch. You had a harsh exterior, but inside you held the warmest and kindest soul. But Dabin loved that about you, he called you his little guard dog.
You made your way into the DPR building, smiling at the receptionist who waves at you. “Oh hi y/n, nice to see you again.” she says, watching you lean against the counter to have a chat with her.
“He hasn’t ordered any food today,” She tells you after you both catch up about her family. You sigh and roll your eyes in annoyance. “He’s never gonna learn, I’ll go yell at him.” You laugh, quickly pulling your phone out to order him, you, and Christian food, knowing theyre together in Dabin’s studio.
You wave goodbye to the receptionist and make your way down the hall towards his studio. You knock softly before entering, eyes meeting with Christian who lounges on the couch. “hey y/n!” he greets you casually in english, standing up to give you a quick side hug.
“You just missed him, he just went to the bathroom.” he says, taking his seat back on the couch and playing on his phone.
You sit down in Dabin’s chair, looking at all the different buttons and knobs on the sound board. “How’s it coming along?” you question the tall Australian.
It’s very rare that you talk to them about their work, you tend to just sit quietly and listen or sleep on the couch to not disturb them. And you refuse to talk about work with Dabin when he’s home so he can relax.
“It’s coming, I think we got a few more tracks.” Christian answers, stretching his body. “I’m actually about to leave though, we just finished the song.” He adds, looking up at you from his phone.
“Well you better wait for food, I already ordered.” You look at him knowingly, laughing when he immediately looks away from you. The amount of times you’ve scolded them for forgetting to eat has been one too many and he’s well aware.
“Oh baby when you’d get here?” You spin around in your chair to see Dabin stepping in the room, the door shutting behind him.
“How come you haven’t ate yet?” You ask, standing up to meet him for a hug. He lets out a noise that’s a mix of a groan and a chuckle. “I set alarms on your phone to remind you to eat, maybe listen to them before I force you to start taking the meal replacement shakes again.”
Dabin just nods and gives you a quick kiss before stealing his seat back. “She already ordered us food, we’re lucky.” Christian tells him, sitting up so you can kick your feet up on the couch after sitting in the other rollie chair.
The three of you conversate for a while until the delivery man knocks on the door with the food you ordered. You quickly grab it and begin opening the bags for them. “It’s the only place that delivers late,” You tell them, hoping they enjoy the burgers and fries.
“Anything paid by you is amazing baby don’t worry,” Dabin laughs, nudging your cheek with his knuckle before digging into his meal.
Once finished, Christian gets ready to leave. “Don’t forget to ask her about the thing,” He says to Dabin before waving to you both and leaving the room.
“What thing?” You ponder, returning your attention to Dabin.
“I want you to do some adlibs on this song for me,” He says casually, spinning in his chair to play the song for you. The low fi beat plays from the speakers, your body moving to the rhythm instinctively. “Christian and I thought it needed something so I figured it was you.”
“What do you even want me to do?” You ask. He shrugs, resting his hands above your knees and leaning in close to give you a gentle kiss. Once he pulls away he gives your thighs a squeeze and leans back in his chair.
“I don’t know just go in the booth.” He smiles at you, waving his hand towards said room.
You’ve played around in there with him a few times before so it wasn’t anything foreign to you. You put the head phones on, standing in front of the mic that drops from the ceiling. “Dabin what do I do?” You laugh nervously, looking at him through the window.
“I don’t know baby, just say something to me.” He coos through, removing his hand from the button and playing the music for you to listen to.
“Baby what do I do? I don’t wanna fuck this up,” The beat drops as you laugh and look at Dabin as he jams out to the song.
It stops and he you watch him mess with the computer before the song plays again. This time you hear yourself in the intro of the song. He overlaid your giggles with you talking to him with an echo effect, the beat dropping and your laughter fading out before you hear Dabin’s rap start. He somehow made that alone sound amazing.
“You voice is like music to my ears baby!” Dabin squeals like a little girl, pausing the song and waving for you to come back out. “I knew you’d say the perfect thing for it, the song is about wanting to do the right thing to not fuck up the relationship.” He informs you, typing some things on the computer before closing it.
“Wanna make a song together?” He says, grinning at you from ear to ear.
He loves sharing his passion for music with you. He’s always singing and rapping to you. Music is always playing when you both are together, almost like your life is one big love song music video. Your relationship never went down hill after the honey moon phase. You’re both extremely happy to be together, an argument is rare and if one does spark up its quickly put out by you both not wanting to argue with one another. Life is easy when you’re together, everything just flows.
“But I’m not that good at singing,” You frown, absently playing with the strings on your hoody.
“It doesn’t matter, it’s just for fun.” He laughs, opening something on his laptop.
So you both spent three hours rapping and singing about the most random things on a simple beat he had made. There was probably more laughter in the recording than actual good verses. You both laugh until your stomachs hurt while listening to the finished piece.
“This is going on my album.” Dabin says once the song finishes, pulling you to lay on the couch with him. He lays with his back against the arm rest while you crawl between his legs and lay your head on his chest, wrapping your arms around his waist.
“Your adlibs sounded really good on the song, thank you.” Dabin says, his fingers making a mess of your hair while he smiles down at you. “You did all the work, I didn’t even try.” You laugh, closing your eyes and listening to his heartbeat against your ear.
“You never need to try, youre just good at everything,” You smile into his chest, sliding your hands under his hoodie to rest against his warm back.
“Oh youre also gonna be in my music video,” He says after a few moments of silence.
“No sorry, i’ve already given my piece of perfection.” You joke, feeling a chuckle rumble in his chest.
“Well give me a little more baby,”
