Hello! I've been reading stuff on your Tumblr for like the past few days and I really like your works:) could I request a one shot?
The thing is, I've been listening to Wildest dreams by Taylor Swift A LOT lately and it gave me an idea for a one shot where Y/n is a part of the Dead Poets Society whether as a sister of Neil or just a Welton student. She and Charlie have a romance similar to the one Wildest dreams is about. The storyline goes according to the movie so Neil dies, Keating is fired, Charlie is kicked out of the school. Y/n's parents decide that it's going to be better if they move her to a different school and so they do and she loses contact with Charlie but they promise each other to meet again. And so a few years later they meet in some unexpected way or in a place they wouldn't expect to meet and they're happy.
I'm sorry if that's too much but I can't get this idea out of my head
Wildest Dreams (Charlie x fem!Reader)
this was a request! i hope you enjoy it!
It was 1955, it was your Freshman year and your brother Neil Perry went to Welton Academy. Your education wasn't as valued as Neil's so you were homeschooled. That's until with lots of convincing from your mother your father allowed you to go to Welton, as long as you were up to par to Neil and nothing lower.
So now you and Neil were both Freshman's and you were new to Welton Academy. You stayed close to your brother, you looked at the school and were amazed and just how amazing it was and how eager you were to learn.
"Neil, who is this?" A tall brunette boy asked looking at you.
"My sister," Neil smiled at the boy.
"You have a sister? How didn't we know?" Another boy this time he had ginger hair.
"She was homeschooled until now, she's a little Freshman," Neil laughed and his friends laughed too.
"Welcome to Hellton," a dark hair boy smiled and you felt your face heat up, "the names Charlie Dalton." He extended his hand for you to shake which you did.
Neil chuckled and rolled his eyes, "leave my sister alone Charlie." Charlie looked at Neil offendedly and shook his head.
"I'm just being friendly, she looks nervous." Neil rolled his eyes.
"That's Meeks, Pitts, Knox, and Cameron," Neil said pointing at them and you nodded waving at them.
You became close to Neil's friend group seeing how much fun they all had together and how they've known each other since the start of Welton.
You of course made your own little friend group and would often hang out with them. But Neil's friends were your number one group and always the people you invited to events with you.
It was now your Junior year. There was a new English professor that you liked very much and admired the way he taught and how different it was to how all the other teachers taught at the school.
There was also a new addition to the friend group, Todd Anderson. You really liked Todd, he truly was one of a kind.
You and Neil's friend were all out in the field chatting and laughing when Neil excused himself. He left with Todd somewhere "top secret" to which you laughed at.
Then Knox left because "he had some studying to do" along with Cameron who was to help him with the studying. Then Pitts and Meeks left because they had to finish their radio, you were kind of annoyed that they all left.
Now it was just you and Charlie, you unexplainably had a little crush on him, you didn't anticipate for it but it came anyways.
The way Charlie had with words and expressions, not to mention his good looks and gorgeous smile. You of course were going to fall for him, all your friends liked one person in Neil's friend group.
You didn't know when it started, it could've been that first day of school when you were lost in that huge school and Charlie helped you to class.
Or it could've been that time in your extracurricular activity when you had no idea what to do and Charlie helped you out.
Or when a boy broke your heart for the first time and Charlie threw a mini party to cheer you up with the rest of the gang.
It could've been any of those times, or it could've just been his smile and the way he looks at you when Neil says something dumb. Or how when something dumb or unexplainable happens and you two look at each other and burst out laughing.
Or the amounts of inside jokes you two had with each other.
You were unsure but now that you and Charlie were alone, you felt yourself getting nervous. You two were sat in silence, it wasn't an awkward silence but it also wasn't a nice peaceful silence.
"You like Mr. Keatings class?" He asked breaking the silence, you smiled and nodded.
"He isn't like any other teacher here in Welton," you smiled and he nodded.
"I always look forward to going to his class, it's always nice to not have the same things shoved down your throat, right?" He smirked.
Oh that smirk, how you loved it. You smiled and nodded. You looked at the grass avoiding his look. You heard him get up and walk in front of you. You looked up and saw he had his hand extended for you to grab. You gave him a questioning look but he just smiled. You grabbed it and he helped you up, he began walking your hand in his as you followed.
"Where are we going?" You asked as he guided you deeper into the woods.
"That's a surprise. You'll love it." He winked, you two continued the walk in silence, this time it was peaceful. The only sound was the birds and the crunch of the leaves on the floor.
Soon enough you two arrived near a waterfall. It was kind of cold but so nice. Charlie sat down with a smile, you sat next to him as you two watched the water fall. It wasn't loud it was just so nice to listen to.
"I come here often, I really like it here." He smiled closing his eyes. This was a new side of Charlie, one you haven't seen before.
"How did you find it?" You asked looking at him with eyes of adoration.
"Stumbled upon it when I was walking, been coming here ever since," he smiled looking at you.
You two looked at each other, his eyes were a deep dark brown, they were soft and kind. Eyes can tell you so much about a person, it tells you their life story. His eyes weren't tired, they were soft and kind. They were welcoming and beautiful.
You felt yourself leaning in towards him as your eyes closed. He was leaning in too tilting his head slightly, before you knew it you two were kissing in perfect sync.
You couldn't believe it, you were kissing Charlie Dalton, Neil's best friend, your brothers best friend.
Charlie pulled away resting his forehead on yours with a smile. You felt your face heating up as you smiled at him. He caressed your cheek, he pecked your lips after that with a small laugh.
"I like you, I know I shouldn't. You're Neil's sister but I just can't help these feelings..." He mumbled turning away from you.
"I like you too Charlie, I like you so much," you placed your hand on his cheek causing him to look at you. You leaned in and kissed him again this time slower.
"We can keep this on the down low for a little, I want to warm Neil to the idea of me and you being together," he whispered smiling.
"Does this mean..." You muttered and he smiled and nodded.
"Want to be my girlfriend?" He smiled and you nodded hugging him tightly.
It went like that for what felt like a week, you and Charlie would sneak to the waterfall and enjoy each others presence, dancing and singing.
"I'm going to audition for Puck," your brother told you as you and him were walking. You two never really had time together just you two.
"Really?" You smiled, you always knew how much Neil adored to act.
"Yeah, I'm not telling father... I know he'll disagree with it..." He frowned and you gave him a sympathetic smile.
"Charlie and I are dating..." You said and he looked at you in surprise before smiling.
"I always knew you two would end up together,” he smiled bringing you in for a tight hug.
“If he breaks your heart he is dead,” he laughed ruffling your hair. “Overprotective brother mode in action.” He winked.
“Oh yeah like he’d actually try and hurt me,” you rolled your eyes and he shrugged.
“I’ve known Charlie my entire life (Y/n), I know him.” He shook his head playfully.
“If he does then we’ll both fight him. I see no issue really.” You two laughed.
It was the day of the play, you weren’t aware that your father and Neil had gotten i to an argument a day before the play.
“He’ll do amazing,” you smiled at Charlie. The rest of the poets were in the restroom fixing their hair and preparing themselves.
Soon enough the poets left the restroom laughing and cheering. You all were going to the exit when you noticed a blonde girl looking around the school snow on her hair.
“Who is that?” You said making the Poets all turn, Knox looked confused.
“Chris?” He said walking towards her she said something that you couldn’t quite understand.
“Let’s go,” you said making the poets walk outside the school and to Mr. Keating’s car where he drove you all to the play.
It was beautiful, seeing Neil on stage, he really did have the gift.
“He’s good, he’s really good.” Charlie smiled and you nodded excitedly.
It was near the end when everyone cheered, the Poets all did their barbaric yawps and you laughed. It was beautiful, everyone began to walk out as you saw Neil, and your father.
“Neil?” You shouted walking to them your heart pounding.
“(Y/n) (M/n) Perry! How dare you not tell me Neil was in this play!” Your father shouted grabbing you by the arm along with grabbing Neil’s arm.
“Neil! You have the gift!” Mr Keating shouted before your father intervened.
“Stay away from my children Mr. Keating,” he said glaring at him. You looked at Charlie with frightened eyes, “get in the car!”
You opened the door getting in followed by Neil as you two sat in silence. Your father drove all the way there without a word or even looking at you two. His silence was scarier then his anger.
You got out the car walking towards the house as your father angrily opened the door. Your mother was there a cigarette in her mouth as you all walked in. That’s when your father began to shout at Neil. You rushed upstairs to your room, knowing that is what your father wanted you to do.
You could hear Neil and your father arguing as you quietly sobbed to yourself. You wished Charlie was by your side hugging and comforting you.
The house went quiet as you heard Neil enter his room, you crept your way to his room quietly knocking on his door.
He opened it and looked you in the eyes hugging you, you hugged him back tears falling from your eyes. He patted your head then kissed your forehead.
“Go sleep, I’ll be okay,” he whispered you nodded wiping away the tears as you walked to your bedroom. You laid on your bed and cried yourself to sleep.
It was around four o’clock when you heard your parents screaming. You rushed your way to the basement of the house, you saw your mom sobbing as your Father sobbed.
“What happened…?” You asked getting close to them when you saw Neil.
You didn’t say anything, you didn’t feel anything. Before you knew it you were running, you didn’t know where.
You ran up to Charlie’s dorm knocking on the door, he opened the door and saw you. You hugged him tightly sobbing in his arms.
“Dead…” you whispered, “Neil’s dead.” You sobbed feeling your legs grow weaker you fell to the floor. Charlie began to cry holding you tightly, he walked you to his bed, Cameron woke up and saw you sobbing in Charlie’s arms.
After a while of Charlie attempting to console you, you had fallen asleep.
Charlie saved you the pain and told the poets the news. Todd took it the hardest, thank the universe you weren’t there to witness Todd’s breakdown.
The school did a terrible job at “honoring” Neil’s death, all they did was talk about Neil’s academics. Neil was misunderstood.
Mr. Keating was fired soon after, you took that the hardest knowing Mr. Keating had nothing to do with Neil’s death.
“I’m being expelled,” Charlie frowned looking you in the eyes.
“My parents are taking me out of Welton, I’m going to Oregon,” you frowned feeling tears fall from your eyes. “The last thing I wanted to do was leave you Charlie, I need you now more then ever.” You hugged him sobbing into his shoulder as he cried.
“Say you’ll remember me,” you whispered your forehead on his as he nodded.
You wished you two could’ve stayed like this forever but before you knew it you were being escorted out of the school luggage in your hands by your father.
It was now 1965, and you were 23 years old now. You graduated from Harvard in 1963. You had never forgotten Charlie Dalton, you two for a while exchanged letters until your father discovered it and forbid you from ever sending another letter.
You moved to California with your best friend in 1964 and were now employed. You gave up hope of ever finding Charlie, and gave up on love. You had sent a letter to Charlie after moving out but never got a message back after that.
You were in a park near a lake admiring it when you saw someone that looked a lot like Charlie. They also noticed you and gave you a confused look. You stood up and neared the familiar figure.
“Charles Dalton?” You said nearing him, you saw his expression brighten as he hugged you and spun you around.
“I found you!” He smiled hugging you, you sobbed into his chest as you hugged him tighter.
“What are you doing here?” You asked wiping away the tears as he chuckled.
“Call me silly but I’m in a band, I play the saxophone now.” He smiled.
“Why didn’t you answer my letter?” You asked a tone of hurt in your voice.
“I moved, I moved to San Francisco. I had to escape my parents,” he frowned caressing your cheek.
“Do you talk to any of the poets?” You asked and he shook his head sadly.
“I lost contact with them a few years ago. Lats I heard Meeks and Pitts went to Yale and Todd went to the local University.” He frowned and you cried a little bit more.
You two reconnected and talked about how life was and how you two were doing and feeling. It was a beautiful reconnection, you two fell in love with each other all over again.
You never really fell out of love with Charlie, you never hated Charlie and saw being able to be with him was everything to you.
