The two of them ran back to their dorm rooms as fast as they could. She felt as free as the day they got married and it was things like that that comforted her, knowing things will never changed. They will be alright. They don't know how to raise a baby but they didn't know how to be married either. Now they were married for six months, exact. She inwardly chuckled. A surprise anniversary gift indeed.
The two of them threw everything in their bags, which wasn't much seeing how they were living in a dorm. While Toulouse brought down their bags to put it in his car, Alice wrote a letter to the Headmaster to explain everything. She would call Charlotte later tonight and everything will work out in the end. Toulouse emerged from the door again to tell her everything was ready. She picked up Bubbles' carrier while Toulouse picked up Milo's carrier and they set off hand in hand to start their new lives. With a love as fairytale-like as theirs, there always is a happy ending.
Mumford and Sons tickets. She looked down at her hands, not believing he actually got them. The tickets were real and physical. Mumford and Sons were one of her favorite bands even though she never told anyone. Alice hated the stereotyping that went along with telling others her favorite type of music. Not only would they call her a hipster but their genre had to be better than hers. Music was something to be enjoyed.
She sat on the bed, waiting for him to come back from who knows where so that they can go to the concert. Dressed in a peter pan collared dress with a bunny print and ballet flats, she swung her feet, swaying slightly from all the excitement. In her ears were earphones playing their album from her iPod. Hurry hurry hurry...
Jack: Rose, you're no picnic, all right? You're a spoiled little brat even, but under that, you're the most amazingly, astounding, wonderful girl, woman that I've ever known...
March 29, 2021. The alarm was set for nine-thirty am, just enough time to get the twins ready for the park. But the alarm didn't even have a chance to chime for as soon as the clock turned nine-twenty-nine, the twins were already jumping on their bed, ready to start the day.
Alice ran a mental checklist, jackets just in case they got cold, a camera to capture the memories, each person had their own character hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and an autograph book. Rennes was dressed up as Buzz Lightyear. He didn't get the wings like he wanted but he carried a small backpack that was shaped like the jet. Little Versailles dressed up as Minnie Mouse with her red polkadotted dress, the Minnie Mouse ears, and black leggings. Alice even went as far as dotting her nose with eyeliner
With everything checked, they were ready to go, down the elevators, and into the park. Toulouse and Alice followed their kids to whichever rides they wanted to go. They ate at Ariel's Grotto, allowing Versailles to take pictures with her favorite princesses. California Adventure offered fewer rides, therefore they finished quickly and headed over to the other park.
With Versailles sitting on Toulouse's shoulder and Rennes holding both of his parents' hands, they walked through Main Street.
"Swing me, mommy, daddy, please?" he pleaded. Alice couldn't ignore his doe eyes and nodded at Toulouse.
"Ready, 3 2 1, Liftoff," Toulouse laughed. And with that both the parents lifted their arms, swinging Rennes with his kicking legs. It was enough to satisfy him until Versailles yelled from above.
"Mickey Mouse!"
The four of them waited in line, camera and autograph book ready. They took pictures with everybody's favorite mouse with a few kisses and hugs exchanged. And with that, they were off again. Thy four of them went on a few more rides, including the Matterhorn Bobsleds which was Alice's all time favorite. It was the very first ride Toulouse had ever taken her on. She still remember sitting in the toboggan for the first time in Toulouse's lap and have the wind whip through her hair. Seven years later, she now had her little son crying in her lap, clinging on to her arms which were wrapped around him tightly.
"Mommy, I'm scared! Does it go fast?" he cried.
"Just a little, but I promise, it'll be fun. You'll like it," she nodded, holding her son closer.
"But but but," he pouted up at Alice with wide eyes, gleaming with tears.
"It's like flying. How about this, after this, I'll treat you and Versailles for Mocha Almond Fudge ice cream, double scoop, waffle cone?" she bargained with Versailles.
"But you'll do that anyways," he laughed. The tobaggan started to descend onto the track and she felt Rennes grip her wrist tightly. She gently pressed a kiss into her son's hair and told him everything will be alright. They zipped up and down and in and out of the mountain. Past the yeti and Alice even pointed out the hidden mickey near the crystals. The ride finally came to a stop and they exited onto the platform where her two kids bounced around asking to go again.
"Let's go get that ice cream and go on the other rides first," she laughed, wrapping her arm around her husband's torso who dangled his arm around her neck. After ten years of marriage, eight of which were finally legal, they kept their promise of staying on their honeymoon stage.
They finally stopped at dinner at the Blue Bayou, located inside the Pirates ride. They sat at the seat right next to the water and watched as each boat went by. At eight twenty, they found a seat for the fireworks with a nice view for the kids, Versailles sitting in her lap and Rennes sitting in his father's. The last time she had seen the castle, she was getting married in front of it. She smiled and Toulouse noticed.
"Do you remember that night?" he whispered.
"What night, Mommy? What night?" Versailles asked her, looking up.
"Daddy and mommy got married here," she answered her quietly.
Her daughter gasped and became starry-eyed. "You and daddy married at a castle? Are you a Princess?" her eyes growing wider.
Alice grinned and pressed a finger to her lips then shook her head slightly. Versailles' look of wonder was replaced by a disappointing frown.
"You're the princess now," Alice whispered, tapping her daughter's nose.
Her daughter lit up again, the same time as the lights around them dimmed, signalling the beginning of the show. Soon the music came on and the castle lit up accordingly. The first few fireworks shot up in the sky and an odd feeling washed over her. Tears started escaping her eyes as Versailles and Rennes watched in awe. But Toulouse noticed and he placed a hand on her hip, rubbing circles and pulling her closer to him. She rested her head on his shoulder and he kissed her forehead, just like he always did.
The show ended and it was time for them to head back to the hotel. After all, they were there three more days before they had to return back to their home in France. The kids were all washed up and tucked into their bed when Alice sat on the queen sized bed that the kids shared to read them a bedtime story. Tonight, Beauty and the Beast.
"And they lived happily ever," she finished, giving each a kiss on their forehead.
Rennes looked seriously in her eyes when she finished, "Alice, and mitosis is?"
"What?" she tilted her head, confused.
"What is mitosis?" Versailles joined in.
Alice woke up from her daydream to her teacher glaring at her expectantly.
"Mitosis is cell division," she replied meekily. The teacher, satisfied with her answer nodded and returned to writing on the chalkboard. She looked down at her notebook, filled with classnotes neatly on the lines and doodles in the margin. 'Mrs. Toulouse DuPont' 'Versailles and Rennes DuPont'
