Obviously, there's not much to go in it right now, other than my own progress on getting things put together, and I also have a Discord set up that I'll be opening up shortly, but...
Would y'all be interested in a dedicated community here on Tumblr to post things about your campaigns, your art, your chars, your bestiary/artifact/location creations, etc?
I would probably open it concurrently with posting a general Discord invite.
Should I make a community for the DPTTRPG?
No; I don't think anyone would use it.
No; I personally wouldn't use it at all, though others might
I am utterly indifferent.
Yes; Even if no one uses it but me, it would be good to have just in case.
Yes; I think a lot of people would use it!
What kind of Ecto-being do you want to play as your first character?
Blob-ghost (Just a little guy)
Living Liminal (Perhaps boring, perhaps underrated?)
Ghost (dead soul)
Entity (never-living soul)
Dual-Cored (think Johnny13 and Shadow)
Halfa (I see you, you overpowered min-maxers :P )
Working on putting together what I have so far into the Discord I've made, but because I want to format it nicely, it's taking some time.
Should I...
Open the Discord as it is now and let people lurk till it's set up
Let people ask for a link/invite to the Discord if they want to join early
Stop being so picky about formatting and dump the info then invite others
Take the extra time to satiate the formatting gremlin inside me
Secret other option (comment please)
Goal for this weekend:
Create bestiary entries for ghost-of-the-week enemies from the show, using to build up templates for making personalized entries.
(Make rules for creating non-liminal human entries as well; gotta include the GIW)
Hey, so... before this day, April the 3rd, ends for us here in my timezone, I suppose I should bring this concept up for discussion.
I've got a pretty decent initial framework for mechanics that I'll share over the coming days after I put the blog together more, but I want to know...
What dice would you want a DPTTRPG to use?
D6
Fate dice (D6 but glorified D3)
D10
D12
D20
Combination/Depends on roll
Other?
PC Mechanics - CORES
Primary Development - Shape
Outlines the general tone and function of the character, and how many points they can assign to powers or to skills. Can be roughly likened to "races."
Living Liminal
Some living people, with enough exposure to ectoplasm, can gain ghost-like powers. Still having a physical body structure, they don't technically have a formed Core, but rather a "pseudo-Core." These individuals are almost certain to form a ghost when they die, and tend toward fixated behaviors and emotional highs.
Blob Ghost
Blob Ghosts are never-born entities formed from pooled ectoplasm exposed to large amounts of emotion, either over time or suddenly. They range in power level, but are most commonly found as amorphous blobs of sentient ectoplasm. They do not exist long in most overworld locations, as they require a high level of energy sustenance since they do not have a developed Core structure.
Entity
Ecto-Beings that have either formed from raw ectoplasm and will/emotion, or from the Core-Spawning of two or more existing Ecto-Beings, and thus were never materially alive. These differ from Blob-types in that they have gained enough strength to have a defined Core and form.
Ghost
Ecto-Beings that were once alive, whose death involved enough emotional- and ecto-energy to create a distinct Ecto-Being. Animals or Plants may become ghosts. Locations, cities, concepts, etc. do not, but may form an Entity.
Dual
Sometimes, the formation of two Ecto-Beings is entwined in a manner that links the two together for the remainder of their existence. Though they may physically be two different beings, their Cores are intertwined, and the End of one is inevitably the End of the other. (think Johnny 13 and Shadow)
