Must See Online TV!
Online TV is BOOMING! Earlier in the year Nielsen reported a staggering 145 million US viewers currently watch video online. What are they watching? Since Status Junkie Media loves to stay on top of the latest in community entertainment, we thought we’d put you on to three shows with promising futures that you should know about.
Women, especially African American women are on the rise in being seen and heard. If you’re looking for a show that empowers and celebrates womanhood tune your browsers to DPVN.net and watch a few episodes of The Everyday Superwoman show with host Kim LaRue. Kim’s grace and personality makes her delivery one that leaves an impression as she interviews African American women who are definitely “Superwomen” in their worlds. The wife and mother encourages takes us on many journeys including into her home where in one episode she shares with us her favorite tree. Whether it's her spotlight on women in music, to an all women drum troupe, to the plight of women in Africa, The Everyday Superwoman show is more than simply a talk show, it’s educational and history in the making.
The title of “U Never Know What U Gonna Get” web show is what first caught my attention. Several shows later, I find myself anxiously waiting for the next one. The show which is produced by Wyredmind Entertainment LLC, features four New Jersey friends with different “starving artist professions” and their shenanigans. Each character gives their own unique personality to the show, that can be identified as any group of friends on any given day. You can sense the off camera teamwork and friendship they share which in our opinion makes for some good scripted reality drama (it’s fake but scripted from real possible situations past present or future) I’m pretty sure the episodes where the casts attempts at being roommates is not that far from the truth. The commercial parodies are hilarious! Keep an eye on them. Their “Big Banana Coconuts” tag line may prove to be bigger than anyone expected.
We previously did a brief intro on this next show but the producers give such a new perspective on lesbians that we couldn’t leave them out. What do you get when you travel to different cities and spotlight the lives of successful lesbian women? The Other Women of America of course. TOWOA starts off the series with a focus on the women of Atlanta. The series receives major kudos for getting away from the sex and drama that's usually associated with lesbians and presents the ladies in a positive spotlight that women everywhere can identify with. TOWOA shares careers family, love, life and struggles. It seems to not have the outlandish theatricts usually found in reality TV. There are only teasers and promos out for now but look for the series sometime this year. Take look at the impressive sizzle reel below to get the fire cooking.
There you have it! We’ve given you some ideas for your insomnia nights, when you’re browsing the web with nothing to do or you simply want to stay up on the latest in entertainment. These are the shows our communities are talking about in their statuses. Leave it up to Status Junkie Media to bring it to you.
