A/N. So, @lillie-grey, I think I took your “like diving below a layer of frost” prompt a little too literally… and here’s what happened. Happy belated birthday my wonderful Em!
Set somewhere in whatever fucked up timeline it is where Regina and grown Henry are traveling the enchanted realms and fighting the baddies. And oh, Mal is there and they’re totally married because why the hell not?
Regina doesn’t hesitate for one second when she jumps into the endless black depths of the fjord, chasing after the sinking form of her dragon. She barely has time to hear Henry and Hook yell her name as she rips through the freezing water at the speed of a bullet. The shock from the cold and the impact after such a high jump leaves her momentarily stunned and blind. Only her momentum and instinct bring her forward, reaching for the anguished cry that echoes in her mind.
Dragons cannot swim.
The leather restricts her motions; every single nerve ending in her body seems on fire and she can almost feel ice crawling in her lungs, but she keeps on swimming, careful to avoid the dragon’s thrashing limbs so as not to be sucked in and torn apart by scales and claws.
She waits, keeping herself hovering above the large body still being pulled further and further down until she sees a glimpse of light.
Maleficent’s eyes are wide open in terror, tendrils of steam slithering from her nostrils, a fruitless attempt at breathing fire underwater.
Mal!
The psychic cry is muffled by the walls of water weighing on them, and Regina gives a few quick kicks with her legs to get at the dragon’s eye level, grasping the jaw of the huge reptilian head for leverage.
Mal, you need to turn!
There’s only wild thoughts whirling through creature’s mind, all informed by centuries of distrust for this lethal element, it’s all blaze and snarl without an ounce of reason.
Regina clutches harder, digging her fingers into the hard lips of the dragon’s mouth.
Maleficent. Give me your eyes. Look at me. You’re safe.
She needs air. She can’t think–she needs to get them out of here, but there’s no way her magic is strong enough to transport a dragon, Mal needs to turn, and she needs to breathe–
Regina forces herself to relax, to leave only room for peace and purpose in her mind, her forehead resting between the dragon’s eyes, hers closed but her whole being open and beckoning, her pull stronger than water.
You’re safe. Come back to me.
There’s a long shiver running through the dragon’s body–or soul–, a roar of pain that slices through Regina’s mind and brings a taste of copper in her mouth, everything is fading and closing in and darkening the dark…
And then she feels the soft flesh of a human body in her arms, and she lets go.
She brings them both back to the cliff where her son and the pirate are anxiously waiting for them, crashing down on the ground, heaving and shaking, fighting for breath, blood running down her nose.
“Mom!”
Strong–and, more importantly, warm–arms close around her, bringing a familiar scent even more comforting to her than the tight embrace.
“Henry,” she says in a faint whisper, and smiles, while her own arms tightens around Maleficent.
She hears him laugh, and knows that laugh to be full of frightened tears. “Hey, Mom. So–I know better than to try and stop you and Mal from saving each other, but could you maybe not almost die in the process?”
“No… promises.” She chokes and coughs. “You know… our family… quite dramatic.”
She feels Maleficent turn in her arms as Henry laughs again, and finally opens her eyes to meet her lover’s pale blue ones–now clear of all distress and more luminous than the sky.
“Stupid… dragon,” Regina sighs. “Did you have to take on all these wargs by yourself?”
Maleficent lifts a slightly shaking hand to caress her face. “Foolish girl… you almost drowned with me.”
“Not a chance.” Regina’s frostbitten lips draw into a victorious smirk, and Maleficent blinks, slowly, like she understands, like she knows that Regina never entertained the thought.
Because the former Evil Queen has learned to trust in fate now that she’s the one to shape it.
And maybe fate owes her an apology or two.
The sun sets a gentle fire of gold to Maleficent’s curls, and it brings Regina another kind of warmth.
“Come on, young man,” Hook says as he helps Henry to his feet, desperately trying to avert his eyes from Maleficent’s naked form (one of the reasons why Regina far prefers this new version of the pirate). “Better to give the ladies some privacy.”
She doesn’t have time to laugh before Maleficent’s lips are on hers, returning the breath she’d lost in the fathoms below.
For @trina-deckers who requested that for New Years, Regina and Mal arguing and kiss and make up and midnight.
Previous installments of this series can be found HERE. (And it’s actually updated now lol)
It’d been a petty fight fueled by stress, and now they were both too stubborn to admit they’d overreacted, and both too stubborn to admit that they’d done something they weren’t ready to do… that it wasn’t even something they wanted to do.
They’d decided to host a New Year’s Eve party--just an intimate little gathering of their friends and family, something light and fun to bring in another year. The coming year would be significant for them in a lot of ways--it meant they’d have survived a series of firsts and a series of second firsts, that they’d found their way back together after life had torn them apart and that they’d somehow managed to build themselves back up from the rubble--and that was worth celebrating. But truly, they weren’t interested in a big gathering; they’d only wanted to celebrate together and though they wouldn’t admit it, they resented that they couldn’t do just that.
Privately, they tried to convince themselves that it wouldn't be so bad to ring in the New Year with a house full of friends and family, that it’d be enjoyable and maybe even a new tradition that they could repeat for years to come--and the more the thought about that notion, they less they wanted it and the crankier they got.
But there was nothing that they could do other than to pretend they’d have fun and that the evening wouldn’t be filled with tension and the sorts of fake smiles that made their cheeks hurt.
The morning of New Year’s Eve they’d both awoken with a sense of dread, and before they’d even made a pot of coffee, Mary Margaret phoned to let them know that she and David would be late--something about needing to find a new sitter--and their plans had to be altered to accommodate her.
And that’s when it started.
Regina had tried to appease her, telling her that it wasn’t a big deal and that they didn’t mind the delay, and Mal had rolled her eyes--and then, there’d been a tone.
From there it was followed by a misunderstanding about the sorts deserts they’d be serving--and suddenly, it seemed that serving chocolate covered raspberries instead of strawberries with the champagne was the most unconscionable thing imaginable.
And by the time the coffee had finished brewing, they were in the midst of a full-fledged fight.
Henry had ducked out of the way, hiding in his room with ear buds and video games while Regina and Mal stomped around the house, slamming doors and hurling accusations they very well knew were unfounded and hurtful.
At one point, only fifteen minutes before the first of their guests was scheduled to arrive, Regina had suggested they cancel the whole thing; after all, that was what she thought Mal wanted--and it was--but Mal refused, not willing to give in, and another petty fight began.
Dinner had been tense.
Everyone could feel the anger between them, but no one said anything about it, they all just pretended it wasn’t happening, that everything was fine--and that only fueled their annoyance. And then, just as dinner was ending, Henry made an ill-timed quip about being surprised that neither of them had torched the house--and somehow that sparked yet another argument in the kitchen that they pretended their guests couldn’t hear.
No matter how hard they tried, they kept ending up in the other’s way--and they made an extra effort to be social and accommodating which was exhausting for them both.
“It’s almost midnight,” Henry announces--and Regina feels her jaw tighten as she looks to the clock, watching as the seconds passed, ready for the night to be over.
“This is ridiculous,” Mal sighs as she comes to stand beside her. “I don’t even know why I’m mad at you.”
Regina blinks. “It’s because I invited all of these people over… and neither of us even like most of them.”
A little laugh escapes her. “You say that, but it’s not true.”
Regina’s eyes roll and she sighs. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have…” Her voice trails off as she look up at Mal. “You shouldn’t allow me to make big decisions when I’ve had more than a glass of wine.”
Mal’s brow arches. “So, it’s my fault?”
“No,” Regina admits in a small voice.
“I should have said something, though,” Mal says as a lopsided little grin edges onto her lips and she shifts awkwardly toward Regina. “And I’m sorry, too.”
They’re barely aware that the countdown has begun--and Mal slides her hand up over Regina’s jaw. Regina leans into her touch and draws in a breath as her hand folds lightly around Mal’s wrist. Her eyes fall to Mal’s lips and she feels a nearly uncontrollable urge to kiss her--and it seems the urge is mutual because just as the clock strikes midnight, Mal draws her in, pressing her lips to hers as all the anger and tension simply melts away.
A/N: Just a little continuation of this verse with Regina and Mal’s first time.
{ ffn } { ao3 }
They're meant to be studying.
Dr. Hopper’s midterm is only two days away and as much as she's already studied and prepared, taken an endless number of notes during their lectures, and as naturally skilled as she is, Regina is nervous about it. She has to do well. To prove herself not only for her own benefit, but there is a part of her that wants to prove mother’s accusations wrong. To show her she can excel here, that she does belong even if it's not Yale.
Though Mal has teased her endlessly for her stressing, she's also graciously agreed to help her study. Except they're not doing much of that at the moment.
Not when Mal’s lips are so soft and warm, and she's rubbing her thumb in circles over the skin at the base of Regina's spine, her other hand threaded securely through her dark locks. They’re laying across Mal’s bed, her leg tucked between Regina’s, papers and books scattered on the mattress around them, though neither are paying them a great deal of attention.
“Mmmmm,” Regina hums, nuzzling her nose against Mal’s as she breaks for air. “We’re supposed to be working.” She tries to point out, though her half-hearted protest quickly dies as her lips are once again caught with Mallory’s. She tastes like the coffee they’d brewed an hour ago and the strawberry lifesaver she’d popped two chapters back, and the combination is oddly sexy.
Regina’s tongue peeks out and sweeps through Mal’s mouth, twirling against hers as she tightens the arm that’s draped over her waist, hand skimming up her back and then down to rest on her denim clad hip. She loves kissing her. They’ve done quite a lot of it in the weeks since they’d made out after the women’s rally.
Oh, there’s been plenty of non physical getting to know you activities as well. Friday night movies on the lawn and Sunday excursions to the art museum. Lunches at Granny’s and coffee dates on Regina’s free afternoons. Drinks with Mal’s friends that are slowly but surely becoming hers as well. She’s made Regina dinner a few times as well, evenings that have led to several heady and aching make out sessions on Mal’s couch.
Five weeks of absolute bliss.
They’ve yet to take their relationship to the next level though. Both of them had agreed it was best to take this slow, whatever this budding romance between them means they have time to figure it out. It feels important. Too important to rush anything and risk ruining it before it even has a chance to truly blossom.
Feeling the other woman’s body pressed against hers though has heat spreading through Regina’s limbs, her mind struggling to keep theories and observations at the forefront of her thoughts when her skin tingles everywhere Mal touches her.
“We deserve a study break,” Mal mutters against her mouth, peppering light kisses along her cheekbone, down the line of her jaw. Regina can hear the smile in her voice, laced with amusement, without even seeing it. “You’ve been working so hard.”
“What about the exam?”
“Regina,” Mal murmurs, pulling away enough to gaze down at her, “you are more than prepared for this exam. Stop worrying so much.”
The retort that had been on the tip of her tongue fades away when Mallory sucks at the sensitive join of her throat and neck, swirling her tongue over Regina’s skin. Her moan is unfettered and Regina couldn’t have contained it if she’d tried. “I— mmmm. I suppose a tiny break couldn’t hurt anything.”
Mal chuckles lightly against her throat, scraping her teeth over Regina’s flesh playfully. “It will be good for you.” Blue eyes meet brown in the soft glow of the bedside lamp that illuminates the room, casting shadows around the room and across Mal’s face as she smiles down at her. “Let me clear your mind for a little while.”
Her hand lifts up to slip through Mal’s long blonde locks, forming a curtain around them, and she scratches lightly at her scalp affectionately. Nodding, Regina stretches to take Mal’s mouth with hers again, the hand not in her hair gripping at her hip.
They make out just like that for a little while. Limbs pressed together, Mal laying on top of her and hips rocking against Regina’s. One of Regina’s legs hooks around Mal’s calf, rubbing her toes over the worn denim that covers it as the blonde drags her bottom lip between her teeth.
Wandering hands and soft, breathless gasps that seem to echo around them. Warmth spreading through her veins like slow, molten lava that heats and excites even as it comforts. It’s soft and intimate. Everything Regina’s come to expect while she’s with Mal.
Her nose bumps against her girlfriend’s, streaking up into her hairline as Regina peppers kisses over her face, along her temple and down the side of her jaw, sucking at her skin lightly along the way. It makes Mal gasp, grinding her hips a little more insistently against Regina’s as she swirls her tongue into the hollow of her throat, bites at her earlobe and whispers how beautiful she is.
As the minutes wear on and their kisses become needier, headier, all tongues and teeth and quiet gasps, desire seems to morph into a tangible emotion within the room. The air thick and dripping with the simmering passion between them. Regina digs her teeth into Mal’s lip, sweeps her tongue over and into her mouth and then lets out a long, low moan when Mal mirrors the action against her throat a moment later.
“Oh god, I want you so much.” Regina cries out, not giving a second thought to the desperate plea until she feels Mal still above her, levering up on her elbow to look down at her curiously.
She studies her for a moment, an expression Regina can’t quite read on her face before she whispers, “Do you trust me?” There’s a hint of vulnerability in the way she asks it that she’s never heard in the other woman’s voice before.
Regina’s breath catches in her throat, and she’s already struggling to draw air in and out of her lungs at the feel of Mal on top of her, her thigh anchored between Regina’s legs. But she stops long enough to consider the question, staring up into those blue eyes that had mesmerized her from the moment she’d first seen them and feels a steady sense of ease wash over her.
She’s safe with Mal.
So the brunette nods slowly, a hint of a smile tipping the corners up her mouth up as she responds, “More than anything,” and lifts her head up to capture Mal’s lips with hers. The other woman groans, stroking her thumb back and forth over Regina’s cheek as they kiss and kiss, her hips rocking into hers, seeking a bit more friction.
It feels wonderful. Like nothing she’s ever felt before. She’s been with men before, is definitely not a virginal flower. Her high school boyfriend, Daniel, had been sweet and caring as they’d explored all the delights and sensations two people can share between their bodies, hearts, and minds. And there’d been that drunken one night stand with Graham her first semester, a bit of fooling around with David that lives on the floor below her in her dorm.
However, she’s never been with a woman, and despite how much she cares about Mallory, how damn crazy she is about her girlfriend, she’s been hesitant to take this new physical step. It’s another layer of intimacy she hasn’t been sure she’s ready for up until now. Fears of not being good enough or of doing something wrong holding her back. Nerves still skitter up her spine, but as Mal’s mouth kisses down the side of her neck, along her collarbone, lightly sucking at her skin and sending sparks of pleasure spreading through her limbs, Regina doesn’t feel an ounce of hesitation now.
This is right. It feels right and there is no one else in the world she wants to take this first step with.
Smiling at her own revelation, Regina’s hands slide between their bodies, up Mal’s torso to cup her breasts in her hands and give them a light squeeze. Her thumbs circle around the hardened nipples she can feel between the light cotton fabric of her t-shirt and bra, encouraged at the light groans of delight the movement elicits from Mal.
Growing bolder, Regina slips one of her hands beneath her shirt, appreciating the smooth, soft skin of her torso as it creeps higher and higher until she can stroke over the lacy cups of Mal’s bra. She continues her same actions, teasing both of them as the minutes tick by until it appears Mal wants more and sits up on the bed quickly, straddling Regina’s hips. Lifting the hem of her Stones t-shirt over her head and tossing it haphazardly somewhere across the room, she looks down at Regina in nothing more than her navy blue colored bra, her breasts clearly visible through the material, and grins.
The sight takes Regina’s breath away. Her index finger reaches out to trail over the top edge of Mal’s bra, over the swells of her breasts and she whispers, “You’re amazing. I have no idea what you’re doing with me, but you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.”
A smile forms over Mal’s face, but her eyes are puzzled as Regina finishes her statement. One of her hands finds Regina’s on the bed, and she laces their fingers together and brings their joined hands to her lips, placing a light kiss to her knuckles. Regina admires the way their hands look intertwined for a moment before she’s focusing back on Mal as she brushes a lock of hair away from Regina’s face and leans back down.
Pressing her lips to Regina’s she sinks into the kiss, something sweet and pure, before she tells her against her mouth, “I’m with you because you’re amazing too, Regina.”
Regina’s heart trips over in her chest, pounding painfully against her rib cage as Mal covers her mouth again, gently licking at the seam of her lips and twirling her tongue against hers. She feels it happen. If there was a moment, a singular moment to pinpoint exactly when her heart fell head over heels in love with this woman, this is it.
It overwhelms her, the sudden rush of feeling, of affection and love for this woman, and all she wants is to be closer to her. As close as she possibly can be for as long as she will let her. Forever.
Her arms slip around her torso, reaching up for the hook of her bra and easily slipping it between her fingers. Tossing it away, Regina cups her breasts in her palms before lifting her head to suck a firm nipple into her mouth. Her skin is soft and warm, pliant in her grasp as she sucks and nips at Mal’s flesh. For a minute, Regina worries if she’s doing it well, but the tiny gasps and breathy moans Mal releases while stroking up and down her arms encourage her to continue, switching eagerly to the other breast for another few minutes.
Then she’s gently directing Regina’s mouth back to hers and the brunette sinks into the kiss, rubbing her nose over Mal’s cheek, against her own as she urges Regina to sit up a bit.
Apparently Mal’s decided she’s wearing far too many clothes, and it’s not a sentiment Regina doesn’t agree with herself. So she aids the blonde in lifting the baggy sweatshirt she’d adorned in preparation for their evening here. Mal runs hot, several degrees warmer than everyone around her, and keeps her apartment at arctic levels at all times as a result.
Thankfully, she’d decided to forgo anything except a bra beneath the sweatshirt. And in no time at all, she’s as bare from the waist up as Mallory. Her girlfriend smiles at her, eyes dark and deep as they sweep over Regina’s chest. Stroking a finger tip lightly down her sternum, Mal tells her, “You’re so soft, so beautiful. I love touching you. Feeling you beneath my hands.”
Those hands are now swirling random patterns over the sides of her breasts, teasing over the swells, pinching her nipples between thumb and forefinger and, God, it feels good. So, so good. Regina groans, arches her chest into Mal’s experienced hands and revels in the sensations she can evoke from her.
“I love the way you touch me,” she murmurs breathlessly, a hint of the shyness she hasn’t quite shaken sneaking into her tone.
Regina’s hands rest on her hips, rubbing her thumbs over Mal’s flat torso as their gazes never waiver from each other as they explore one another’s bodies. Ducking her head, Mal takes Regina’s mouth with her’s once more, sinking her teeth into her bottom lip and rocking her hips into Regina’s. Her hand slips lower, to in between Regina’s thighs and she rubs over her aching core through the thin material of her leggings.
It makes her groan pleasantly into Mal’s mouth, whining a bit and wishing for more. She must know, must sense it, because she increases the pressure a bit, rubbing firmly right over Regina’s clit and her head falls back on a long moan. Mal wastes no time in lowering her mouth to the column of her throat, licking a line from base to jaw, up to her ear where she whispers, “Does that feel good, babe?”
“Uh-huh,” Regina moans, her hands gripped into the comforter beneath her for purchase now as she rocks her hips up into Mal’s touch as best she can. There’s not much room for mobility, but even so, it feels wonderful. She wants more. Isn’t sure exactly what, and doesn’t know how to ask for it, but she wants it all the same.
Once again, Mal seems to read her mind, and she chuckles against Regina’s skin, kisses lightly at her jaw and then urges her to lie back on the mattress. Shimmying between Regina’s legs, she hooks her fingers in the waistband of Regina’s leggings, tugging them down and off of her. Mal rids herself of her own jeans and underwear before her hands skim up Regina’s calf slowly, over the inside of her thighs as she watches her. Running a single finger over the damp silk of Regina’s panties, and Mal smiles when it makes Regina moan and bite her lower lip.
“I want to taste you,” she tells her quietly, in that husky bedroom voice that makes goosebumps erupt over Regina’s flesh. “To make you feel good.” Her gaze is steady on Regina’s, patient, waiting, as she asks, “Will you let me show you?”
Regina nods, licking her suddenly dry lips as Mal smiles and discards her underwear along with her leggings, landing on top of the pile of clothing. And then she’s bare. Completely naked before her and she feels the flush of heat over her skin. But Mal is looking at her like she’s the most beautiful woman on earth and it settles her nerves a little.
Of course, that honor belongs to the woman who is stroking her hands over her skin, easing her into relaxing as she situates herself between her thighs. For the thousandth time since they’ve started dating, Regina thanks whatever force in the universe had brought this woman into her life.
Then she stops thinking altogether.
Mal licks a line up her slit, slow and easy and Regina moans at the feeling. Warmth and heat centered just where her body is begging for attention most. It’s not the same. Mal knows just how to tease her, how much pressure to apply with her tongue, how to scrape her teeth over Regina’s sensitive flesh to make her shudder. When her tongue dips inside her it feels like nothing Regina has ever experienced before.
She doesn’t rush, works her up slowly, lapping up the quickly growing evidence of her desire as she hums against Regina’s core. The vibrations only add to the richly, glorious sensation Mal is giving her. “Oh god,” Regina gasps, her fingers grasping at long blonde locks to anchor herself. “Mal…”
Grinning from between her thighs, Mal watches her, blue eyes dark with lust and arousal. Teases her tongue against her in slow, flat licks as she watches Regina’s shallow breathing, the rise and fall of her breasts.
“Do you like this, babe?” Mal questions, kissing lightly at the skin of her inner thigh.
“Yes, yes, please, Mal, I need—” Regina’s mind struggles to string together a coherent thought, distracted by the way Mal’s mouth brushes over her skin, hands stroking the outside of her thighs as she inches her way back toward where Regina really wants her. Need what, Regina? She mutters, low and throatily and it’s just as distracting as her mouth as Regina groans, “I need you to—” her voice trails off on a loud moan as Mal’s mouth is suddenly sucking at her clit. Hard, firm sucks that make every nerve ending inside her body pulse with pleasure.
Every thought besides how amazing it feels, how wonderful it is to have Mal doing this to her, flees. She’s a squirming mess of sensations and with every suck, she’s pulled closer and closer to the edge of bliss. Her tongue circles the tiny nub, flicking against it rapidly. Over and over again. Regina’s hips lifting to press harder against her girlfriend’s mouth.
Her hands find her hips, holding her steady as sharp stabs of pleasure zip and zing from her center outward. Regina’s breath backs up in her lungs, trapped as her body writhes under Mallory’s attention. “Mmmm, feels— so— good—”
It’s a quick, fast tumble, taking Regina by surprise as suddenly it all becomes too much and she’s crying out as her muscles spasm, throbbing deliciously while Mal licks at her release, muttering sweet nothings against her while Regina rides out her orgasm. She barely hears them though, blood pounding in her ears, body quaking with the after shocks as she gradually returns to the present.
She becomes aware of what’s around her again. The quiet humming of the air conditioning, the shouting group of drunken students passing outside the window, Mal’s lips pressed to her skin affectionately. They’ve made a mess of the bed, comforter crumpled from where Regina’s hands had wrung it, extra pillows skewed sideways, the papers and forgotten textbooks that had been surrounding them toppled to the floor. The realization nearly makes her snicker.
So much for studying.
Drawing deep breaths, Regina runs her fingers through Mal’s hair, brushing it back from her face and smiling dopily down at her before urging her up, and Mal crawls back up her body. Their mouths meet without hesitation and Regina can taste herself on Mal’s tongue, startled for a moment by the realization. She’s just gone down on her. Let her bring her to climax with only lips and tongue and teeth and it had been incredible.
Better than anything Regina’s experienced with a man before. Idly, she wonders if it’s simply the fact it’s different or if it’s because it was Mallory, because she’s head over heels for this amazing woman.
Mal nestles her nose against her cheek affectionately, “You okay?” she asks. Her body is resting half on top of Regina’s, their legs intertwined as her hand strokes up and down her side from hip to the underside of her breast. She enjoys the pleasant weight of it, the heat of Mal’s skin radiating off her, seeping into her flesh.
It’s clear she’s checking up on her, making sure that Regina’s still comfortable with this new intimacy, that they haven’t taken anything too far. Love bubbles inside her, and Regina nods, leans back just far enough for her chocolate eyes to meet Mal’s bright blue and assures her, “Spectacular.”
Mischievous delight sneaks into the blonde’s gaze and she grins, leaning forward and pecking a light kiss to Regina’s lips. “Good,” she replies, her eyes sweeping down Regina’s form. “You’re gorgeous. Exquisite.”
The words have a blush creeping into Regina’s cheeks. She’s hardly ever been called that before, a lifetime of growing up under the weight of her mother’s scrutiny unconducive to such regard. But Mal makes her feel like it’s true, knows that that’s genuinely how she sees her. It’s a wonderful feeling.
Regina kisses her fiercely, sweeping her tongue into her mouth and tangling it with Mal’s. The other woman groans, presses her naked body harder against Regina’s. Joy and desire pumping through her veins. She wants to make Mal feel this way, like her body is golden and liquid fire. Cherished the way Mal has made her feel.
Her hand slips between their bodies, finds its way between Mal’s legs and rubs slowly, hesitantly. But she’s slick and warm. So, so warm and Regina can’t help but moan in tandem with the blonde as her finger strokes through her folds. She does it a few more times, growing bolder in her touch with every gasp Mal lets loose, her eyes closed as she revels in what Regina is doing to her.
It’s unbelievably arousing, knowing that she can do this to her. That even with her lack of experience, her uncertainty, it doesn’t matter. She can still bring this woman who’s captured her heart pleasure, can make her feel good. Why have they waited so long to do this?
Pride whips through Regina. Ever the eager student, she approaches her task with glee. Learning with every moan and shudder what Mal likes. She presses three of her fingers firmly against her clit, rubbing back and forth and Mal groans and wrenches her mouth from Regina’s on a low moan, burying her face against her neck. Her middle finger circles slowly around it, teasingly and Mal groans, pleads, “Regina—”
Slowly, cautiously, Regina dips a single finger inside her, pumps it in and out of her once, twice as she asks quietly, “Is this right?”
Mal chuckles, but Regina is quickly reassured as she replies eagerly in a raspy voice, “More than.” The blonde props herself up on an elbow, smiling down at her as her hand affectionately pushes a stray hair from Regina’s forehead, brushing down her bicep and then cupping one of her breasts, pinching her nipple. “You’re perfect, babe. I love it, love how you make me feel. Love being close with you like this.” Her voice blankets around her, makes Regina shiver.
Ducking her head, Mal kisses her again. There’s not as much heat in this one as some of their others, but it’s slow and sweet, emotions pouring out of her and filling Regina. Her lips slant over hers, deepening the kiss as her hand massages her breast in a way that has tingles spreading through her.
Bolstered by Mal’s praise, Regina adds a second finger, thrusting deeper inside her. Her palm grinds against her clit, applying a steady pressure to the tiny bundle of nerves as she fingers Mal that makes the blonde groan and rock her hips into Regina’s hand harder and harder. Their legs are a tangled mess of limbs, bodies slick with a slight sheen of sweat, despite the air conditioning blasting through the room.
Regina breaks out of their kiss, suddenly thankful for Mallory’s height over her because it makes it easy to dip her head and take one of Mal’s pert nipples into her mouth, suckling it, causing her to moan softly, hand cupped at the back of her head to hold her in place. The combined stimulation seems to be working for Mal so Regina keeps it up. Sucks at her tits, uses teeth and tongue to tease them as her fingers plunge into her.
Following her instincts, thinking of how she would want to be touched, what drives her wild, Regina works Mal up, curling her fingers inside her at just the right angle to have her girlfriend keening into her ear, moaning encouragement. She’s growing slicker and slicker, her muscles quivering in anticipation of that peak.
“Just like this?” Regina asks, breath hot against Mal’s breast.
She nods, eyes squeezed shut, hips jerking against Regina’s hand. “Yes. Har— harder.” Mal requests breathlessly as Regina grinds her hand a bit more firmly against her. Happy to comply, Regina picks up her pace, thrusting her fingers into her harder and faster. It’s a bit odd to her, an entirely new experience to be on this end of giving pleasure like this but also enjoyable. She’s watching Mal’s face now, observing the flickers of bliss that move over her features.
Questing, Regina adds a third finger, stretching Mal a bit more, and that appears to be exactly what she needs because she cries out on the next pass. “Gods. Yes. Oh… Regina...” Her hips are jerking against Regina’s hand, seeking more.
Regina gives it to her. She scissors her fingers a bit inside her, coated with Mal’s arousal they slip and slide easily, reaching as deeply as she can manage. Her thumb circles around Mal’s clit, making the other woman shudder, body jolting at the sudden surge of sensation.
After another few moments, Regina feels it. The way Mal’s body tenses all of a sudden, poised, then her walls are clenching around Regina’s fingers and breath rushes out against her skin as she moans low and deeply, burying her face in Regina’s neck, kissing her collarbone as she comes. She keeps up the movement of her fingers for a little longer, slowing the way she slides them in and out of her, until finally she lets them slip out entirely.
Because she’s curious, the memory of herself on Mal’s lips at the edges of her mind, and because she hasn’t gotten to taste her girlfriend yet, Regina brings her fingers to her lips, dipping them inside her mouth. Regina groans at the sweet, tangy flavor, licking Mal’s release from her fingers for a moment before she’s wrapping an arm around her waist, pulling her body close to hers.
The blonde hums contentedly, maneuvering a bit so that the two of them are lying more on their sides rather than Mal on top of Regina and mirrors her position. Her leg hooks over Regina’s hip, drawing her close as she smiles at her and rests her forehead against hers. “How do you feel?” She questions quietly, breath ghosting over Regina’s lips.
Regina smiles happily, scoots just a bit closer and wiggles one of her legs between Mal’s. “I feel pretty fabulous.” Mal grins, tells her, I’m glad. Drawing random patterns over her back, Regina returns her question with a hesitant, “You?”
There’s still that hint of uncertainty, even with Mal’s orgasm under her belt. She wants to make sure that the other woman’s gotten as much pleasure out of this new step in their relationship as Regina has. That she’s done well.
Mal’s voice is warm and rich as she replies softly, “Satisfied,” her mouth finds Regina’s, lips soft and gentle, “happy,” she presses a kiss to her temple, “content.” There’s so much affection dripping from Mal’s words, it causes a rush of emotion through Regina’s body.
She grins as Mal shifts out of her arms momentarily to reach for the blanket draped over the end of the bed and pulls it up and over their naked forms. It’s not much, but it will do to stave off the chill for now. Though Mallory’s a furnace all on her own. They settle back into each other’s embrace, wrapped up under fleece and one another’s body heat. Her head tucks itself beneath Mal’s chin, lying lightly on her shoulder as the two of them cuddle.
“Still worried about that exam?” Mal asks, her hands stroking up and down Regina’s spine. It makes her laugh, the stress of the their upcoming midterm completely forgotten in the events of the evening.
“We’ll worry about it tomorrow.” Regina answers, perfectly content to spend the next while dozing in her girlfriend’s arms.
I did it Guys, Hope In The Heart Of The Evil Queen has been updated.

If convincing Snow that she was fine to journey had been a hassle, the morning of their departure turned into a mountainous task. From the moment she had stepped outside of Roland’s room with the boy at her side, they were met with the Princess fast approaching them. But thankfully, magic always came in handy.
“Regi-” The younger brunette started to speak, but before she got any further Regina lifted her hands, transporting her and Roland into Granny’s corridor.
“Woah” giggled Roland as he started to fall had her hands not tightened around his to prevent the fall. “Regina! Let's do it again!!!”
Laughing she answered him, “We can’t sweetheart, but when I come back, we can anywhere around the castle, ok? We have to go see Granny now, remember?”
He had been a mess the night before, clinging onto her even in his sleep. When morning had rolled around, he promised to let her go if only he could speak to her every day, no matter what. It was that promise that had her enchanting a pocket mirror and breaking it in half. She had hers’ ready underneath her bodice, as he had his under his tunic. Looking down at him now she could see he wasn't still all that pleased, so she crouched down to see him and tilted his face to see her. “Roland, honey, listen to me. I know you're not happy about me going, and neither is Snow, but I’ll be able to talk to you; and when I come back, hopefully I’ll have your Papa with me. But until then, you promised me you would behave and be my guarding little Knight here in the castle. Okay?”
“Okay…” he whispered. With that she took his face in her hands and kissed him, hoping to soothe his worries away. Guilt gnawed in her stomach, feeling so much for this child who has had to endure so much. The child within her has yet to be born, and yet she’s somehow failed them too. She needed Robin, not just for herself but for the child in her arms, and the one growing in her.

The wedding had provided a welcome relief to the residents of Storybrooke. It had been a moment which had reminded them of what was most important. Love, Home and Family. Regina had had some reservations on the pirate, that was no secret and while she thought he was sometimes overbearing and Emma a lovesick puppy. However she saw Emma’s face fall when the black fairy appeared, destroying her wedding dress, she knew that Emma was truly happy with Killian and that was all that mattered. Looking towards her sister a silent agreement was reached, they would fix this. This wedding would go ahead. It would be a celebration. To cancel or delay would to let the bitch win. If the Black Fairy had done her research she would know that trying to stop, or ruin a wedding never worked.
The ceremony was beautiful, Archie delivering a heartfelt and witty service. The vows were heartfelt and Regina almost had a tear in her eye. When Emma started to sing she almost laughed, how perfectly charming, despite the utter ridiculous of it all the words were perfect and she couldn’t help but join in, a smile adoring her face (oh if the Queen could see her now).
She joined hands with Zelena and Henry and just enjoyed the moment.
The reception had been fun, filled with laughter, food and dancing and alcohol. Perhaps a bit too much alcohol. She dismissed rumours of her and Zelena ‘humping’ in the corner, they were sisters. Emma and Henry high fived each other, David sighed passing them the money they owed. Regina and Zelena both looked confused as Snow pulled out her phone pressing play on a video. Regina blushed furiously, but laughter won out while Zelena cackled- requesting Snow to send it her. She would never live this down now. People had overcome worse things she supposed and she knew it was funny; she just couldn’t help but be embarrassed.
It was during the laughter and endless dancing that the curse struck. It didn’t matter though, they would find a way.
///
The Queen looked happy, and Regina knew that it was in part to Robin. Though part of her was jealous of their happy ending, or rather beginning, she was more than delighted that after all the heartache, the trials and tribulations, the Queen had been given another chance. One that she was clearly relishing in.
It seemed like the end for a moment. That after everything, it would all be gone in a cloud of smoke. She didn’t want the Queen to leave. She couldn’t be responsible for her death, but she also knew that this was something she needed to do. This was her way of saying Thank You. She grabbed Snow’s hand. Squeezing it tightly, hoping the action would say all the words she couldn’t. She smiled at Zelena, despite everything and the hell that she had put her through she was her sister and had become one of her best friends. They had so much of their story to write. She hoped Emma lived a good life wherever she was, that she had her happy ending- at least that way someone would. Her last thought was to her son. Henry. Her little prince. The boy who’s smile had saved her more than she could count. His unwavering optimism and belief in her provided her with the strength in her times of weakness. Her love for him reminding her that her heart would continue beating. He was, and would always be a hero. She wished she could have done more, hated that she would leave him alone in the world. She knew that he would achieve all of his dreams. She closed her eyes and saw his face. She had missed him so much. She rested her head on his shoulder, seeking the comfort she so desperately needed. He offered it her, rubbing small circles on her back.
“Regina” his voice like honey.
“Robin” Regina whispered, refusing to believe it, knowing deep down it wasn’t real.
“It’s so nice to see you again milady but you know you aren’t supposed to be here”
“I don’t want to go. I don’t want to say goodbye”
“This is not goodbye, it will never be goodbye. I am with you, a handprint on your heart. This is just where we part for a while”
“Until we meet again” Regina said, her voice breaking
“Some sunny day” Robin sang his voice deep with emotion.
///
She opened her eyes and found herself back in Storybrooke. The curse was broken. Henry and Emma had done.
She looked around for him, and was soon hugging him tight, pressing a kiss on his forehead.
Others were doing the same, realising once again life was too short.
Emma walked over, hugging her. They both broke the hug laughing at the absurdity of it all. 4 years ago they had been determined to destroy each other because of the damned curses and here they were overwhelmed with relief with the fact that it had been broken.

Sunrise, where the darkness of the night surrenders to the pureness of the day. The bright yellow, pink blushes and the first whispers of cloud offered innocence to the world that is so often ignored. It’s for that reason that Regina considered it to be her favourite time of the day. The world was quiet. The chaos of life did not matter. The day was new, full of endless possibilities, full of hope. It was the one time that had always been hers, to believe, to treasure.
She had found her way to the forest, her heart led her there. It had more often than not in the past year since Robin’s passing. She still missed him terribly. She saw him every night in her dreams; sometimes they were so vivid that she believed them to be real. Only to wake up to an empty bed. She saw him in Robyn’s sparkling bright eyes and goofy smile. On some days she would torture herself and remember the soft caress of his lips on hers, the way their bodies had fit perfectly together. The way he had worshipped her, treasured every inch of her body. Slow and teasing, a glint in his eye he would bring her to her climax before savouring her taste as she came undone.
She had been getting better, or rather learning to live without. No that was still the wrong expression. She was learning to live. Live with the knowledge that there are so many things in this world that we cannot control, we can’t undo, we can’t fix. Live knowing that Robin’s death wasn’t her fault. Living with the fact that she deserved happiness, and that our past does not define our future, Robin had taught her that.
Today her anxiety was particularly bad. Her thoughts racing. Her breathing increasingly erratic and laboured. She hadn’t slept, tossing and turning. Old insecurities returning to the surface, she wasn’t worth it, she was nothing, she would always be alone.
It was then she heard the snap of a tree branch, great she didn’t want to be disturbed, not now.
“Don’t cry little one, it will be alright someday”
Regina whipped her head around: Mal. Where did Mal go last year? why was she back?, how did she know she was here?, how did she know why?
“I can hear you thinking Regina and I will answer all of your questions in time, but catching up on the past year is not what you need right now”
Whether it was out of exhaustion, frustration or just her default to being vulnerable Regina snapped. “What do I need then?”
Mal gave her a pointed look. Regina frowned, and offered a silent apology. Mal never took any shit, that’s why they had worked so well.
///
Regina had fond memories of their relationship. Mal had offered her a comfort she so desperately craved after Daniel’s death. Awoke feelings she had laid to rest. She had been naïve, innocent and Mal was a beautiful temptress. It had started as a lust filled fling. The two women unable to control their desires, losing themselves in passionate kisses and long nights. They would wake up every morning with a smile on their faces but nothing was ever said. Not regarding the nature of their relationship. To speak would risk the spell being broken. It would risk it all being a lie. For two women who had finally found themselves. Had let themselves feel. That was enough. It had to be.
///
“You need a friend” Mal replied.
Regina noted the hurt in her voice. She understood the pain. Friendships are invaluable. They provide you with a love unparalleled to any other. Friends will be the people that are there no matter what. They will cry with you, laugh with you, and reassure you. Friends are precious and you should never let them go. Friends are the people that will be there for you, and make you smile, even if they want more.
“I miss him Mal. I miss him so much. I miss the way he made me smile. How when I was feeling like shit he would give me a hug and reassure me. I miss the way he fumbled around trying to understand the modern world. I miss the way he used to talk to Henry, them joking around. I miss waking up to him. It’s ridiculous but I’m jealous. I’m jealous of the charming’s in the farm house with their white picket fence and the dog. I’m jealous of Emma and Killian, starting their married life together. I look at them planning their honey moon and I envy them because I want that. I wanted that with Robin. I am jealous of the Queen, of myself because she is in the Enchanted Forest with him, and they get their happy ever after. It was supposed to be ours. I am jealous of Zelena because yes she lost Hades, and part of her loved him. But she has Robyn; she can focus her attention on making a life for her. I see both of them a lot, she asked me to be Robyn’s mama the other day, said that it was right and what Robin would want. I almost said no. No to being the mother to my niece because it hurt too much. It just seems like everyone is getting a happy beginning and nothing has really changed for me. I don’t get a happy beginning“ By the end of her speech she was crying, that ugly crying where you develop hiccups and your eyes are itchy. Oh great.
Mal held her, knowing that Regina needed a few minutes to steady her breathing. “Oh Regina none of what you said was ridiculous. It’s a perfectly normal reaction. You loved; love Robin and that is never going to go away nor should it, being envious of those that have a future that was robbed from you isn’t jealousy. It’s called being human. I think that you’re wrong though, that a lot has changed for you. Once Upon A Time you would cast the darkest curse in existence out of grief; you would make people’s lives hell. Now now you are sat on a log in the middle of a forest and letting yourself feel. Letting yourself grieve. You recognise that there is so much in this world to be thankful for. You know that this is a bad day, where everything is a bit too much, that tomorrow will be a bit better. The fact that happy beginnings exist for anyone shows how much has changed. Have faith little one, sometimes things work out when they least expect it. “
“Maybe it’s all about timing” Regina whispered, her heart almost breaking. Did Mal know Robin had said something similar, that night in her office? The night when she decided to fully open her heart.
The glint in Mal’s eyes was an answer, and Regina wondered how. “Exactly little one”
“Now dry your eyes, hold your head up high and have a good day. “
“Thank you, Mal” Regina replied and leaned in brushing her lips over Mals. She knew it was harsh and unfair, neither of them knew what, if anything would happen, but in that moment it was something Regina needed. She needed to know she could still feel.

If Henry questioned why his moms were walking him to school despite the fact he was 14 he didn’t say anything. Instead he talked animatedly about Wonder Woman; he had recently re read the comic, and how much he adored Diana Prince. Regina and Emma shared a smile, their son was growing up way too fast but it filled them with joy to know that they could still have moments like this.
Regina didn’t really want to go to work. It was one of those days where being in the office was difficult, the memories more raw. Staying at home would be worse. Taking a deep breath she walked through the entrance of town hall.
She paused when she noticed Leroy, Sneezy and Sleepy huddled around her door and was about to make her presence known when they turned, straightening their backs before moving to the side. Looking up at the door Regina beams, her heart filling with warmness and love. Mayor, a name, title that she had created for herself in order to keep order, had been replaced by Queen. A title that for so long she had hated, now made her feel like finally she had found her place in this world. She couldn’t speak, because honestly there was no way to put into words how happy she was. It was such a small gesture but it meant so much.
She went into her office and set out her papers for the day. The curse meant that it was actually relatively quiet, just a general tidy up of the time. Deciding that things could wait for another day she left the office at three, and returned home just as Henry was walking up the park.
///
The next morning she returned to the clearing, and once again Mal was there. They didn’t say much today. They just enjoyed the peace of the morning, the comfort of each other’s presence.
Over the next week Mal explained that they had left Storybrooke briefly- she had forced Gold to make her a potion that allowed her to leave and she and Lily had gone to Boston. They needed time to adjust to being mother and daughter. To catch up on all the years lost, which would have been complicated by the constant drama of Storybrooke.
Mal apologised for not returning when Robin died, had heard via Lily (who had been told by Emma), but she didn’t know what to do. What she could have said, so just stayed away. Regina told her to be quiet. She had been alright, all things considered, and she hadn’t known what she would have done if Mal had turned up. They were here now. That’s what mattered.
It was also one morning where they agreed to see wherever this would lead. They would be there for each other, to offer a shoulder to cry on. To find solace in. If it led to something more than that would be brilliant but there would never be any pressure.
///
After a couple of weeks they began to be more open with the rest of Storybrooke. It wasn’t that they were scared of backlash, the saviour was dating captain hook. Rumpelstiltskin was the Evil Queen’s son’s grandpa they were past judgements on family and who loved who. It was more the fact that both of them didn’t think they could love very well and wanted to enjoy their rekindled feelings, sorting things out between themselves without a gaggle of residents watching them.
When it was apparent they were together, they hadn’t been quite as subtle as they thought in Granny’s, nothing really changed, apart from a not so subtle of never have I ever at the next girls night.
Mal hadn’t known what Never Have I ever was, but after discovering it made Regina blush furiously she rather enjoyed it. Regina was sexy when she was flustered. She was also extremely competitive and that night had insisted on experimenting, something about the Charming’s not being as vanilla as she expected. It didn’t make sense to Mal but she wasn’t going to complain. Not that she could do much more than moan.
///
6 months later and it was their first fight.
It was one of those days where everything goes wrong. From the coffee machine not working- there is any magic that even comes close to caffeine in the mornings, to her car breaking down and that was before getting to work. Regina had come back to the house in a state. Exasperated she moaned about how useless Mal was. Mal was equally annoyed; she had still yet to find a job in Storybrooke and refused to accept Regina’s help. The lack of work had felt like she was left with not much to do and felt like she was useless.
I can do this on my own Mills she had said.
One thing had led to another and ended with Mal storming out the house.
Regina collapsed against the door frame. This always happened. They always left. She was too overbearing. Too strict. She had too much baggage. This, them, was doomed to fail.
Mal doesn’t know how she got here. She just remembers seeing red. She had messed up. She had annoyed the one person that could ever love her. She falls against the fallen tree, and cries. It’s getting dark, and the warmth of the day is replaced by the slight chill of a breeze.
Regina takes a few moments to calm down before realising that she; they have come too far, endured too much for a bad day to destroy everything. Whatever happened next they needed to talk, to set everything down. No more tip toeing around for fear of it being too hard to deal with. She would not lose someone else she cared about. Not today.
She guessed that she would be here. She saw her slumped against the tree and a lump formed in her throat. She had caused this.
Sitting down next to her she placed her hand around Mal’s back, allowing her space to rest her shoulder if she wished. She did and offered a small smile.
Regina was here. She had come to find her. Mal rested her head on her shoulder and let herself breathe a sigh of relief.
They both sat there for a moment.
“Mal” Regina said at the same had called “Regina”.
Awkward gestures followed and eventually Regina spoke.
“I’m sorry. I know it’s not an excuse but today has just been a bad day and I came home and everything was a mess. I just felt like everything was out of control and it was too much. I pushed you too hard and I didn’t mean it”
Mal looked into her hazel eyes and squeezed Regina’s hand, a simple but needed act of reassurance. “I’m sorry too, I should have cleaned up, or at least tried to- we both know you would go back and do it all again. I shouldn’t have run. I know that. I just got scared. “
The two hugged, before Regina withdrew. She had to say something. Do something. She got out a velvet box, chuckling at Mal’s shocked reaction
“I had same the reaction at first, but they aren’t what you think”
Mal was even more confused now but she motioned for Regina to continue, guessing she had an explanation.
“They are promise rings. I found them in Robin’s sock draw on the day of the funeral. Along with a note, him promising me a future. A future together. At the time I hurled them across the room. Fate is a cruel master. I couldn’t throw them away though, no matter how much it pained me to look at them. I thought it was because I like to torture myself. Perhaps I hoped that one day I would be able to look at them and believe in a future again. Today a mist the chaos, the hurt, the insecurities I did. I was pissed but I couldn’t go to bed on an argument. I couldn’t face the thought of this being an end. I also want to make this clear this isn’t a rebound. I loved Robin, part of me always will, but on the day I made one last vow. To start over and over somehow. So Mal what do you say?”
Mal was overcome with emotion. She had, just minutes ago believed it was all over, how wrong she had been. Regina had not given up on her. She didn’t want to give up on her. Ever.
“Regina, fate, destiny whatever you want to call it has been unfair to both of us. Love has taught us that life is precious and death is cruel. The truth is that despite everything we both believe in hope, because we have to believe that good can come from broken. So yes. I love you.
“Even after all this time, after everything” Regina asked, suddenly shy.
“Always” Mal replied, laughing.
They sealed the emotional day with a kiss, a sweet, sensual kiss.
What they didn’t see was a feather fall to the ground as they left the clearing to return home.

The end. Thank you for reading. Hope you enjoyed it, all feedback appreciated. C x
Happy belated birthday @laura-p-g ♥ it’s nothing exceptional but I hope you’ll enjoy this short DQ piece ;)
She’d never thought cold could feel as stifling as heat. But lost inside these giant walls of stone, looking over the crowd laughing and dancing and flirting on the ballroom, Regina feels the night air squeeze her throat like an iron hand.
As usual, even though the festivities are in her honor tonight, she’s left alone in a corner—a balcony overshadowed by severe statues of various winged creatures—, watching Snow dazzle the lords and ladies of Leopold’s court and feeling torn between her old wish to sprout wings like the vigilant figures above her and fly through the first window, and the new one of unleashing hell upon the guests and let them drown in their own blood.
She knows she hasn’t been seen in her escape to the flight of stairs leading to the first floor, and she’s sure she didn’t hear any footsteps echoing in the stairwell, but suddenly there’s a soft rustling of clothes and a warm breath on her bared shoulder, and only the slender hand sneaking up to her mouth stops her from crying out in alarm.
“Look before you scream, little one.”
She turns her head to glimpse at intense blue eyes peering out from under a dark purple mask, almost shaped like a crow’s beak, a wild mane of blonde curls, and she’d recognized the voice and the beckoning touch even before the woman’s hand let go of her mouth to settle on her cheek, under her own silvery mask.
“You’re insane for coming here, Mal.”
The dragon’s smile is indulgent and teasing.
“I don’t see anyone requesting the queen’s undivided attention. Their loss. I will have to claim it for myself…”
Maleficent leans forward and captures Regina’s lips in a careful kiss, mindful of the adornment on both their faces, but though slow the kiss still manages to steal the breath from her lungs in its intensity and purpose.
“If we’re caught—”
“No one is watching,” the dragon growls against her jaw, slowly turning Regina in her arms so the queen can face the crowd downstairs, blissfully ignorant and unappealing to the higher beings looking down at them. “As for the rest…” she starts giving slow, warm licks along the arc of Regina’s neck, hands at her waist, holding her in place, pinned between the balcony and Maleficent’s strong body.
“You’ll just have to be quiet.”
Regina stares with eyes dilated by fear and arousal at her mortal peers as she allows Maleficent to feast on her flesh, feeling layer after layer of her needs and desires stripped bare under the woman’s touch even though not a single article of clothing is shed, and she hangs on to the rail for dear life as Maleficent’s fingers possess her roughly under her gown and work her up past the point of consciousness. Lighter than wings and stronger than bloodlust, pleasure takes her apart and molds all her wishes to the shape of this moment.
Her head rolls back on Maleficent’s shoulder, her mouth open on a noiseless gasp, and gentle fingers lift the mask off her face, baring every feature for the dragon to kiss.
Storybrooke has an annual picnic to kick off summer, and Regina helps Mal figure out a dish to bring.

A grin pulls onto Regina’s lips as she watches Mal pull a recipe card from the box, her brow immediately creasing with confusion as she absently chews on the tip of a pen.
There are recipe cards strewn across the counter and recipe books that haven’t been touched in decades open all over the kitchen. The refrigerator door is wide open and so are the cupboards--and a little giggle starts to bubble up from her core as Mal flings the card aside into the pile of other discarded recipes, and the pen goes flying across with it.
“Can I… ask what you’re looking for?” Regina asks, pushing herself into the kitchen as she unbuttons her jacket and rolls her shoulders. “Because it looks like you’re… not finding whatever it is you’re looking for.”
“I’m looking for something edible,” Mal snaps as she looks up--and then immediately, her blue eyes widen with regret. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s alright,” Regina murmurs as she leans up onto her toes to press a kiss to Mal’s cheek and her hand slips over her hip. “Though, I would still like to know why you’re tearing through my recipe boxes and books like your life depends on it.”
Mal sighs and rolls her eyes. “It’s… ridiculous. I’m being ridiculous” Regina’s brow arches and Mal sighs again, but this time, she turns and leans back against the edge of the counter. “Well, there’s… that picnic tomorrow.”
“Yes,” Regina murmurs softly. “Storybrooke’s annual kick-off to summer.” She shrugs dismissively. “My office has been planning it for years.”
“Well, I… haven’t been around for years,” Mal says as her eyes meet Regina’s. “At least, not around here… and… I know this is important to you and to Henry and to… the rest of your family.” She sighs and reaches around herself, plucking a recipe card from the counter. “And for the life of me, I can’t figure out why you’d put uncooked noodles in a salad.”
Regina blinks. “I… what?”
“Henry told me that everyone always brings something to share and…”
“Ahhh…”
“And I can barely make coffee, let alone…” Mal takes a long breath, obviously agitated as she flings the recipe card back to the counter, “...whatever the hell that is.” Her eyes widen as she looks back to Regina. “Sure, I can make an incredible root tea that’ll clear your sinuses or roast a chicken over an open fire… fire that I usually provide… but… this is… different and I don’t want to…”
“Mal,” Regina cuts in, “You don’t have to make anything. I’ve got it covered.”
She nods and her slowly, her eyes press closed. “I realize that,” she says quietly. “I just… I wanted to…”
“Oh…”
Mal’s eyes slowly open, rolling as they meet Regina’s. “Just this once I wanted to… participate.” She shrugs and her breath hitches at the back of her throat. “I’ve never… had this, you know? I’ve never felt like I was a part of something. I’ve always been… on my own.” Letting out a shaky breath, her lip catches between her teeth and she hesitates as tears well in her eyes. “I… don’t want to mess this up or… be the weird dragon lady or… embarrass anyone.”
“First, of all,” Regina interjects, her voice rising over Mal’s. “I happen to love the weird dragon lady.” She watches as a lopsided grin tugs onto her Mal’s lips as she looks back to her. “And… I get it.” Leaning up onto her toes, she presses a kiss to her cheek as she reaches for her hand. “Let me help.”
Mal nods as Regina steps toward the counter, sighing as she looks at the recipe cards that cover it. “So, the crunchy noodle salad is out for obvious reasons,” Regina murmurs as her fingers push through the cards. “How about…” She drags out the last syllable as Mal’s arm slides around her waist and her head comes to rest atop hers, and then finally, she finds a worn out card. “This one.”
“Potato salad,” Mal reads with a sigh. “I looked at that…”
“You can’t go wrong with potato salad at a picnic,” Regina says sincerely. “And this one’s got a nice little kick to it.” She grins. “Something very fitting for the weird dragon lady to bring.”
A grin twists onto Mal’s lips. “You’ll help?”
“Of course,” Regina murmurs as she twists out of her hold and moves toward the already-open refrigerator to collect a few of the necessary ingredients. “Good thing I bought those jalapenos yesterday.”
“That’s… actually why I didn’t pick this one,” Mal says as she looks down at the card. “Are you sure about… jalapenos in potato salad? That seems… not quite right.”
“I told you, it’s got a kick,” Regina tells her as a coy grin pulls across her lips. “I made this for my first-ever Storybrooke summer picnic and it was quite a hit… with everyone except Snow… who may or may not have cried because it was so unexpectedly spicy.” Shrugging she laughs a little. “That was a good day.”
At that, Mal laughs out, shaking her head as takes the bag of jalapenos from Regina, and before Regina can turn back to the refrigerator, Mal’s hand wraps around hers, tugging her to her and pressing an unexpected kiss to her lips. “Thank you,” she murmurs as she pulls back, leaving Regina slightly breathless and a little dizzy as she turns to the cutting board and starts to chop.
