Fathers and sons
Honestly, I have so much respect for Robert Alda. For having the courage to appear on a television show starring his incredibly successful son in an episode where he appears at a complete disadvantage and his son tears mercilessly into him for it. The rage that Alan barely controls all the way through the episode, the grudging silent moment of acknowledgement at the end. Never mind the fact that Robert comes back years later for such a different and way more positive episode ... it's this one, The Consultant, that has me in a fair degree of awe of him. What an amazing man he must have been. Well, Alan says as much in the first book but still, to have this measure of proof played out on the screen right before us.
