Horrible thought of the day:

You know the scene in Cult when Dr Foley first brings out the good guy doll in the group therapy session?

I've always wondered what must have happened over the four years to make Dr Foley so sure that Nica wouldn't react to the doll. The last time we saw her in the same room as a Good Guy she was yelling at him about how she was still alive.

Obviously, Nica is hiding her feelings about the doll to an extent but for her to be that neutral about something that would be so triggering can't help but make me wonder about what the fuck Dr Foley must have done as "treatment" to get Nica that non responsive to the doll. I could absolutely see Foley locking Nica in a room with a Good Guy doll until she just became desensitised to it or something else just as fucked up.

A random thought I've had about Malcolm's reaction to the other patients' deaths in Cult

So, I was just thinking about how Malcolm didn't really show any remorse or anything when other patients started dying in Cult, but considering the circumstances, I think it was his way of processing everything.

I think he truly believed that Nica didn't do it and that Chucky was alive (which he was) and factoring in that he often took on personalities of particularly smart and exceptional people I think he was so focused on just looking at the facts and gathering evidence when Angela died.

We didn't see his immediate reaction to Claire's death but the next thing we saw was him claiming to be Charles, considering this is after he was punched into the grave, I think he saw that Chucky was alive and took on the persona as a way to defend himself.

Then when Madeline died and Malcolm made the comment to Foley about how "You're having a bad day, aren't you doc?" I think that was because he blamed Foley for not doing something about the deaths sooner and that was a way for him to lash out with minimal consequences.

Anyway, this is kind of random and messily worded but I wanted to give my thoughts on this. Especially since I think Malcolm is a massively overlooked character in the franchise.

Quick appreciation post for both Danielle Bisutti and Michael Therriault because they seem like two of the sweetest and funniest people in real life but damn do I get mad when I see Barb or Dr Foley on screen.

Just something I noticed in Cult that I think you might find interesting:

I noticed Dr Foley was wearing a wedding ring throughout the movie, just to make him even worse!

Oh my godddd. And he could have kids too then. Not only is he sexually assaulting women that can’t fight back, and pretty much can’t get him in trouble, (and knows it given his line of ‘nobody’s gonna believe you.’ To Nica), and mind you with how Nica acts when hypnotized she’s pretty much unconscious, not thinking at all enough to try and fight back, he has a wife— which let’s be honest here he probably assaults his wife. Unless he’s incredibly picky about his victims (most abusers are), and probably picked Nica because she got charged with the murders, is a diagnosed schizophrenic, and is disabled so she can’t really run off, which would make it MORE possible he’s not, and that his wife doesn’t know what he does, since he might be scared of a court case, considering he couldn’t easily get out of that. Also with the idea of kids, anytime he IS home he’s talking to his kids, probably nice as hell since they ARE kids, and he wants to be able to be seen as a nice person, while at his job he sexually assaults women. Oh my goddddd I hate him SO bad he’s SO disgusting AND disrespectful.
