Zeuz: Yeah

MCC16 Sapphire Simmers Skins!

MCC skins bonus round time! If this is the first of my MCC skin posts you’re seeing, I’m a huge fan of Minecraft Championship. I specifically watch CaptainSparklez, so I’ve made skins for his team before (the latest of which is here). But I love the Simmers too, even though I don’t watch them in MCC. Feel free to share this, just tag this post so that it links back to me. Thank you! Ok, more below the cut.

I’m using my reddit username as the signature, don’t worry I’m not stealing from anyone. 

After I finished the last skins I had the itch to do more. An itch which I’ve now satisfied. I debated which team to do for awhile, but I settled on the Sapphire Simmers for two main reasons. One, they don’t get enough love. And two, I just generally love how they’re a for fun team and they really embrace that.

I made them pirates because I was thinking about how they use the wool strategy in Battle Box to triumph over more PvP strong teams. It’s a very clever move to me and I respect their dedication to it. Also their fight with the Krimson Krakens in MCC7′s Battle Box is hilarious.

And I don’t care that they’re called the Blue Bats, they’re the Sapphire Simmers. So instead of a Bat, I put a Sapphire on the back. It turned out very nice, I like it a lot. I debated doing more shading but every time I tried it looked worse. And I’ll leave it at that. Alright, now for the individual breakdowns.

Starting with James Turner. I was getting a feel for the style I wanted to use when I made his. I really like the way the coat turned out. Actually I had a decently rough time differentiating it from CaptainSparklez’ coat at first. I’ve made a few variants of CaptainSparklez’ coat is all I’m going to say about that. Also his facial hair totally suits being a pirate. Which is a happy accident as I didn’t change anything about his hair. I just gave him a cool hat.

KryticZeuz’ skin originally had a much more open shirt. I even debated not giving him an undershirt. But eventually I went with this design, which is a bit more subdued. I think it turned out better than a more open shirt would’ve. Also apparently I really love vests. I suppose that’s not too surprising given the kind of themes I tend to go for. Maybe I should do space related next time just to avoid more vests. Then again I’m sure I’d find a way to add vests in spite of that.

Actually, speaking of vests, Dr. Gluon’s original design was a long vest. It did not look as nice. I actually debated changing his hat to a bandana (and then Vixella would’ve had just a ribbon in her hair). But I figured he could be a pirate wearing a fez. I’m glad I stuck with that because it turned out better. And then there’s just some standard boots. His design was probably the one I struggled the most with.

And finally, Vixella. She’s actually the first girl I’ve designed MCC skins for (which is kind of crazy). The hardest part about her skin was probably fitting the gem in. I did debate putting it on her bandana, but I didn’t like it as much. Actually at one point her bandana had a skull and crossbones on it. But it was too busy. Oh and I shortened her hair. I really didn’t want to, but I couldn’t fit the gem without it.

Full disclosure, the following was completely based off of Dr Gluon’s Hotel Challenge. I highly recommend watching his LPs, they’re highly entertaining!

Dr Gluon’s version is very character driven. I am extremely goal orientated, so I decided to modify it to have an ‘end’ point and a specific path in which to reach that point.

Rules

Full household – 1 manager and 7 guests.

You can only control manager.

Only you can cook for guests.

Every 7 days a guest leaves and a new one arrives. This is the only way to add new guests.

Schedule: 8-9am Breakfast, 3-5pm Bar (if available), 6pm Dinner.

Money: Every night, at midnight, check the need bars of the guests and get money based on colour. Rates will vary depending on number of stars earned by hotel.

If a guest dies you lose 1000 Simoleons.

No scheduled maids or butlers. You may hire one-time services, but you must pay a 50 simoleon penalty on each occasion.

Star Rating System For every five upgrades you complete, you move up a ‘star’.
