Wolverine faced drug enhanced Yakuza and ravenous sharks in Wolverine 31, cover date September 1990. The issue introduced the Dai Kumos Clan (Dragonhead - died, Seven - died, Eleven - died, Goro, Dai Kumo, Reiko, Makoto - died, Kenzo - died) Dr Malheur, Zap and the Thunderbolt drug. They were created by Larry Hama and Marc Silvestri. Larry Hama took over as head writer and would become one of the key writers of the series. ("Killing Zone" Wolverine 31, Marvel Comic Event)
