I wanted to create a tribute to Akira Toriyama, who embarked on a grand new adventure just over a year ago today. Growing up with Dragon Ball, I don’t think I truly grasped the extent of his work until recently. Discovering how many other mangaka have been inspired by or collaborated with Toriyama really struck me. The title "sensei" feels especially fitting, given how deeply his designs have influenced the anime and gaming world we know today. While working on this piece and studying his character designs, I realized something valuable: I often find myself overthinking what I should draw, when really, the true beauty of my work comes from simply enjoying the act of creating. I wish I could tell him thank you.
