I just read about Dr webberley, and I'm a little suspicious? Is this safe and legal? What to you guys think? Is this the only way to obtain testosterone (safely) at 16? Sorry to bother you, i can't find much reliable information about her.
This partially depends on where in the UK you are. You can get testosterone via an NHS gender clinic at 16 everywhere in the UK (as far as I know - it might be more complicated for Welsh patients), but if you’re in England or Northern Ireland you need to have been with a gender clinic for some time AND have been on hormone blockers for a year first - so if you’re 16 already then you wouldn’t be able to get testosterone via this route for some time, but if you’re in Scotland there is no hormone blocker requirement.
Ultimately it’s your decision whether to go to Dr Webberley or not. I know of people who have been more than happy with the service she provides, but I also know of lots of people who have found it a lot more expensive than they originally anticipated, or who have not had their bloods very well monitored once on testosterone, or who have even become very ill (possibly due to inadequately monitored testosterone, though I don’t know if this has been proven). At the end of the day she is a GP, not a psychiatrist/psychologist/endocrinologist (who are the types of people you would see at an NHS gender clinic), and while there’s nothing illegal or outright unsafe about what her clinic is doing, personally I’ve heard too many people express concern about her services to be comfortable outright recommending her. My biggest concern is definitely how well blood tests are being monitored, and I know of a few people who have used her services solely to get the go-ahead for hormones and then had their prescriptions continued and blood tests monitored locally by their GP or a local endocrinologist, so if you have a helpful GP or endocrinologist in your area then this might be something you could look into. Otherwise, I’d be more in favour of trying to go along with the NHS route.
