42 please. I was thinking of an avenger x reader fic when I wrote that one, so I'm excited to see what you do with it! :)
A/N: Thank you so much for the request and these wonderful drabble prompts!
Being friends with Tony Stark had it’s advantages: great parties, awesome weekends, amazing holidays. It also had its disadvantages, though. For one, if ever your students searched for you on social media, oh gosh, you’d hear it for the rest of the year. You were very careful about what you posted on social media for that very reason, Tony, however, was very tag happy when he was drunk. Thankfully Pepper was a darling and removed your tags whenever she saw them.
Today was one of those days having Mr. Stark as a friend was a huge advantage. Your district was holding a function, a carnival. Ostensibly for the children to mingle with children from other schools, but really it was to raise money for the district. Previously Tony’s just cut your school a check, but Stark Industries needed some good publicity, so Pepper convinced him to make an appearance at the carnival. Of course, if Tony was going down, he was going to as many people as possible with him.
Once word got out that the Avengers were going to make an appearance at the carnival, families outside of the district flocked to the carnival.
“Good work, I can’t believe you got the Avengers to make an appearance!” The superintendent praised you, making your principal glow with pride next to you. Like he was the one who got the Avengers to show.
You nodded and with a calm smile, the same one you used with the kids, you nodded to your bosses. “Right, well my shift at the bake sale is about to start. I hope you gentlemen stop by for some brownies!” They laughed, made empty promises to stop by and excused you. After greeting the teacher who you were relieving and the students who were going to help you, you sat down and let the eager helpful students handle the bake sale while you chaperoned.
Just as you were about to to sneak a peek at your phone, you heard your first name being called with excitement. You looked up and sighed, “That’s Ms. L/N here, Mr. Stark.” You corrected the man once he was in hearing range.
The young girl next to you working the bake sale gasped and tried, and failed, to hold in an excited squeal at seeing Tony Stark. Tony greeted the girl, posed for a picture with her and a few other patrons before handing you a plate of brownies. “I brought brownies!” He beamed.
“Great, we don’t have enough of these,” you said sarcastically, not loud enough for the student to hear.
“Well, put them in the back, those are specially made brownies. If any of the others stop by, you give them those.”
You shrugged, set them aside, and missed the mad grin on Tony’s face as he effaced himself (which really should have been a sign in the first place) as you and Pepper started talking.
Steve and Sam were the first of the others to appear, Captain America barely able to make to your table without being mobbed by fans. Ever the gentlemen, the two posed for pictures and chatted with fans before excusing themselves.
“Hey, F/N, what’s good?” Sam asked, his eyes sweeping over the desserts.
“Oh, here, Stark brought over some fancy brownies,” you said, serving a slice on a small paper plate.
Sam raised his brows, “Uh, actually, is that a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie?”
The girl working the booth nodded, placing a cookie on one of the plates and handing it to him, aware that this was a fundraiser, Sam paid for the cookie despite being a guest and being told it was on the house. Steve finally made to the booth and smiled as he greeted you and the others.
“How about you, Captain Rogers? Would you like a brownie?”
Steve smiled and took the offered plate thanking you as he also paid the small charge. For some reason Sam grinned while Steve munched on the brownie, he must be really enjoying this more than you thought he would.
Clint and Natasha were the next to arrive, after Steve and Sam had moved on to another part of the carnival. They both accepted brownies, though you failed to tell them that they brownies were from Stark, and Nat only took one bite before discreetly throwing it away. Finally the last pair to arrive were the newest and youngest members of the Avengers, the enhanced Maximoff twins. Pietro apparently had a large appetite, something about him having a fast metabolism. And Wanda admitted to loving brownies. Great, it looked like Stark’s special brownies were a hit.
You blinked and frowned to yourself at the thought…why did you have a bad feeling about this? Before you could contemplate any further the superintendent stood on the outdoor stage and and started to introduce the Avengers, thanking them for saving the world, and country, and for serving the people and such. Steve, as Captain America, had prepared a little speech, but he looked strangely sluggish as he walked up to the stage, being a prodded a little by an obviously laughing Sam. Clint stumbled once on his way up and Wanda was leaning her brother.
“Uhmmmm, hi.” Steve started, “Ahem, thank you, thank you all…thank you.” He started to trail off, Sam’s laughter echoed in the microphone.
Was Steve high? As a matter of fact…Clint and Wanda all looked pretty out of it too…Oh shit. Oh shit. Oh shit.
“Who brought pot brownies to the bake sale?!” You gasped, too horrified to watch your mouth in front of the students next to you. They looked at you wide eyed then side glanced each other.
Quickly you scrambled to the plate of brownies that, thankfully, only the Avengers had eaten from. You picked it up and sneezed loudly. “Oh no, I sneezed all over these brownies. Better throw them away.” You feigned loud enough for people around you to hear as you tossed the plate in the trash while glaring at Tony, who, like Sam, was cracking up in the background. Finally Sam pulled Steve away, “Thank you all for inviting us to this wonderful carnival, we want to thank the superintendent, Mr. Bement for welcoming us.” Sam spoke as he moved Steve to the back.
Tony grinned, his laughter having died down, and stepped up to the mic. You didn’t really hear what he said, all you thought was that he had better give one hell of a speech and donate even more money this year after this stunt he pulled!
