Katniss spent the night before her wedding hiding anything that might give her away. Her writing desk, which was a cluttered collection of half-written poems and letters from her publisher, had to be straightened out. With her legal name still remaining as Katie March, she had some documents that were secured away underneath the bed. These things had never mattered before because no one ever came into her cabin, save for the grumpy Buttercup on cold nights. But that would change tomorrow when she married Peeta Mellark.

She ran the conversation over and over in her mind. The shock and unexpected warmth at Peeta's proposal, his claim that he loved her. And then the chill of the letter which predicted with absolute certainty of his death. Katniss had considered revealing right then and there her true identity. She could pay for the surgery to save Peeta's life, but he had refused the idea altogether. Even the doctor admitted his odds were dismal, and Peeta said he didn't want it. The conversation reminded Katniss of the one she had with Thresh when he refused to take the medicine she'd smuggled him. Maybe, if she'd known Thresh before his lover died, if she could have saved them both…but like Peeta, he chose differently.

Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?

It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
