What no you see I am completely normal about the fact that Richter's Smash Ultimate voice lines include him saying "Dracula" in his sleep while Simon's does not, therefore once again showing Richter being very #normal about his destined enemy <-lying

Summary:

After a minute had passed, the man’s eyes—a deep, sea-blue—fluttered open once more. “So, it’s been…four years…” he whispered to the sky, voice wistful, yet fatigued almost. Soon enough, his eyes drifted down to the dark, ancient wood ahead. One of the few rays of moonlight, which struggled to peek between the branches of the tall oak trees, fell upon centimeters of exposed collarbone, laid bare due only to the deep v-cut of the man’s shirt collar. This loose, pure-white button-up was tucked into a pair of pale grey trousers, which were pulled up to his waist, and held up by a thick, brown-leather belt. His large, square-shaped, silver belt-buckle caught another of the moon’s rays, causing the metal to glint whenever he shifted his weight between his feet. Four years since I took up the duty of the hunters before me, and slew the legendary vampire… –~~~* In which, under the watchful eye of the full moon, Richter Belmont disappears.

You know sometimes you set out to write a fic quickly to get an idea out of your head so you can be normal later, and weeks later you end up with 15k, a new hyperfixation, a new blorbo, and lowkey obsessed with a rarepair.

There was a point in the process of writing this that I (for some reason) fully believed I could get away with tagging it as gen, but the eroticism was so strong that I'd look like a fool to pretend there's nothing there between Dracula and Richter in this fic, so I ship tagged it. Ultimately, though, I do feel like the main focus of this fic is the exploration of concept (that being what happened the night Richter disappeared 4 years after Rondo of Blood) and the character study nature of it.

In any case, I do hope someone out there enjoys this!

I also hope that it doesn't age too poorly once I finally play sotn and rondo of bood myself.

Just learned the other day that one of the possible game over screens from Stage 8 of DXC when you play as Richter features a voice line of Dracula saying something akin to "You serve me now" and I am...normal about it. Yes. Normal

Meanwhile Dracula sees Annette (who is very much beautiful) and his first thought is "Oh cool great I can use her to get under the Belmont's skin"
