You've always known something was a bit off, about you. You were raised alone, and never knew your father. Your mother never liked to talk about her family. You moved a lot when you were young. You had a broken arm once, that healed in two weeks instead of two months. Oddities that are overlooked by the mind of a child, but start to seriously pile up in adulthood. Now you're fully-grown and attending university in Berlin, just trying to make it through school and make ends meet. Life is blessedly normal. Until it isn't.
Until one night, you're stalked and chased through your own city by a man in a mask, until you're taken by HYDRA and told you carry a powerful genetic legacy in your blood, that you naturally inherited the effects of the super soldier serum from your maternal grandfather: Johann Schmidt, the Red Skull.
Until you're turned into their labrat, designation Subject V-13, as they try and take everything from you in their quest to create a new race of superbeing. Until the man who brought you into this hell in the first place, the Winter Soldier, is charged with minding HYDRA's most-precious natural resource—you.
Okay, full disclosure time, I've never written in secondary POV before, but this idea has been consuming me for the past few days as I've wanted to write something self-indulgently horror and/or dark romance concerning the Winter Soldier, our beloved broken man (mainly bc I've missed writing him in my WhiteWinterVerse AU, if I'm real, and because Winter Soldier: Cold Front has been rotting my brain again). So, this is my crack at writing a x Reader for the very first time! It'll be multi-chapter as I already have a broader story idea in mind and quite a lot written down in my scratchpads lmao.
This is an AU which diverges in the summer of 2013, after the events of the first Avengers movie in 2012 (& also after Iron Man 3, but I digress, Avengers is the more important benchmark here). I'll probably, eventually, cross-post this to AO3 but not until it's finished; I'm working on this in-between writing chapters on the Black Widow fic in WhiteWinterVerse and editing chapters for Avengers: Age of War, so not really sure what the posting schedule will be if there'll even be one :') Like I said above the cut, this is primarily a dessert writing project for me, so it's just whenever I feel like working on it.
Mind the warnings seriously as well, as this is definitely a, self-indulgently, very dark fic series covering some very sensitive topics, but are topics that I find very cathartic to write about, too — Could say this is for all the girls who wished the Winter Soldier could've saved them.
Hopefully gonna have the first chapter up sometime this week! Yippee!

Basically Mike and Will get Murray’d and deal with the consequences (the consequences are 9 of the 10 chapters lol).
I wrote this before S5 came out, so this is now a fix-it fanfic with more apocalyptic vibes and just overall better than what we got I promise you (not that that is hard to do)...
Including byler sharing a mattress in a little storage room in the radio station, angst and fluff, Will coming out to Mike on his own terms, Mike getting Vecna'd, flashbacks to miwi meeting on the swings, Castle Byers in the UD, "Crazy together" (because why the fumble did we get You die I die but not that??) etc etc you get the picture...

Started this after Volume 1 with so much hope you guys... Also now basically a fix-it/ Vol2&3 churchgate rewrite that picks up where the show fell off. Including Mike's POV (also Will's), Mike being jealous of Robin, Mike and Joyce heart-to-heart, Mike worrying over Will, Will dealing with his powers and his newfound confidence, Mike overwhelmed (in the best way) by said newfound confidence, flirty but shy Byler, nerdy flirting which means byler flirting through Star Wars, DnD and LOTR references, churchgate, and just generally ALL the Byler scenes I wanted to see happen in Vol 2 and 3.
