Something I’m surprised I haven’t seen people talk about is how evident Scar’s respect for Pearl is. Ooc they’re friends of course, but I’m the context of secret life, their dynamic is something so special to me. The first task he completes of his own accord is to hype Pearl up. He isn’t quite sure if he’s doing enough so he keeps it up even though the task only requires 30 minutes. But he doesn’t ever really stop. In the finale when the number of people left alive is dwindling rapidly, Pearl states plainly that she’s going to have Scar kill her, but he refuses. She’s sick of everyone she cares about leaving or dying, but Scar isn’t willing to hurt her, not anymore. When they’re down to the final three, Pearl is begging him to take her life. His response? “I refuse, we go out together […] I genuinely don’t want to win that much.” When Pearl is bemoaning finding herself again at the end of it all, Scar’s not having it “You’re good at the game, be proud of yourself.” He never stopped being her number one supporter. And when he finally kills Gem, Pearl’s first instinct is to congratulate him. They’ve never been in a proper team, not in any season this far, but at the end of it all, they always fall back to each other. When Grian left in Double Life, it was Pearl Scar ran to. They’ve never not been on each other’s side. They don’t need any formal alliances, they just need each other.
