the other day a customer called abt getting a floral arrangement delivered, but it was too late for same-day delivery, which I told her and offered to do it the next day or any other date she wanted. she said, "oh no, I know it's last minute, but it needs to be today-- my friend told me just this morning that her dad died," and I just thought to myself, "not to be a bitch, but I'm p sure her dad will still be dead tomorrow ¯|_(ツ)_/¯ "
absolutely LOVE ur newest jonmartin comic! it's so funny b/c before I got to the bit abt the eye, I assumed it was gonna be something like, "Jon doing stupid things claiming they're proven techniques is actually the most effective method of eliminating Lonely b/c the flood of love Martin feels for his stupidly charming, goof-ass bf immediately washes away the fog." like Jon starts playing I Need a Hero on blast, or covering the walls in pictures of kittens like, "Lonely hates this" and it works!
i love that interpretation of that comic!! jon doing silly things with enough confidence that martin can’t help but Not be lonely is great
this gave me another idea for another thing so
I know we talk abt weird militant fandom every other day, but the Daisy/Basira shit is so funny to me. first ppl can't simply *dislike* them b/c it's "lesbophobia" to be uncomfortable w/ them being cops, and with the fandom putting them on "GIRLBOSS" pedestals despite it. now ppl aren't allowed to simply *like* them-- severe flaws and all-- w/o being accused of being cop-apologists. can't have shit in this fandom lmfao
basira is the diametric opposite of a girlboss tho
my whole thing was i didn’t what daisy/basira to be a canon thing bc it made a lot of the stuff basira did in S4 uh Real Bad. i’m glad that wasn’t the intent bc it makes me like both of them more separately.
what a weeb
credit to @otherwindow for the inspiration, i only wish i knew anything about Bayonetta so i could draw that bit too
bonus sketch of the version i decided i didn’t like below the cut:
Busk u gotta stop posting Jacob, his ass-kicking dad energy is making me Feel Things
Good
hey if ur still struggling w/ Voirrey's mask, what abt something that obscures the neck? like a hard plastic(?) mask over the top half of the face, then loose fabric draping down from it and bunching up around the neck and tucking into the shirt. could give a more animalistic silhouette from the side, and/or distort exactly how long her face is, depending on how it's designed
I have a rabbit hole I’m going down for her “main mask” since I made the first post, but I like what you’re puttin’ down and dig the idea of the fabric bunched around the neck. The cool thing about her is that she will, eventually, have a small suite of masks with different stats/abilities tied to them, so perhaps I’ll keep this in my pocket - so thank you! I wasn’t going to post this yet buuut...
The current design that I’ve found most compelling is the undead + animatronic angle, with the nosepiece kind of fusing into the teeth/palette area and the “flesh” part being decaying silicone/foam/etc.
I found the structure of this mask to be the most influential on my thought process, it’s from one of the masks/facial prosthetics from The Island of Doctor Moreau (Pretty sure the 1996 version, it looks pretty modern):
It’s got the surface/material that I’m gunning for. I also find that it sells the inorganicness without being so obtusely complicated as a lot of defunct animatronics are. And also this lovely piece, which MIGHT be from Crimson Peak, but I’m not sure - reverse google image search did not do me a lot of good.
The “crusty bits” will most likely be akin to decaying foam/plastic/whatever it is that you see on ghoulish old broken down animatronics, like this guy (probably from Dinosaurs, by the look of it):
Anyway this has been my creepy mask ted talk.
just got the zine today and was absolutely ruined, just hysterically laughing from start to finish. I want to thank all the mods and artists for putting this masterpiece together-- truly the wrongs of Reigen's absence from our cultural touchstones has been righted 🙏
hell yeah, we’re so glad you like it! we owe it all to our amazing artists.
