Fic Summary: Loosely based on Anne McCaffery’s Dragons of Pern series. Sam is the son of John Winchester, Lord of Winchester Hold. He’s been obsessed with dragon riders his entire life, and wants nothing more than to join their ranks. His father thinks this is a waste of his son’s abilities, when he should be learning more about helping his brother run the Hold. So when dragon rider Gabriel comes to Winchester Hold to search for possible dragon riders, John does everything in his power to keep Sam away from the rider. Despite John’s best efforts, Sam manages to catch the rider’s attention and is swept off to the dragon weyr, where he finds himself way out of his element.
