Rux-Lan Kenobi was born out of @worm-strung-string's Kybernetic's AU which, to put it in the barest bones: Stewjon makes automatons out of a specific vein of Kyber crystals. They create a protoframe, coax the kyber to bond with it, and wrap it up in a cortosis weave faraday cage to keep the crystal contained to a specific species' shape. Stewjon is in the business of selling these custom kybermatrons to those who can afford it and have the emotional capacity to bond with the offered kyber crystal. Obi-Wan is one of those, with shenanigans afoot and sith plots and veering story stuff. It's great.
Obi-Wan was an experimental design. But he wasn't the only one. Before Stewjon made Obi-Wan, combining foreign (lightsaber specific) kyber with their automaton kyber, Stewjon had a massive chunk of kyber that simply did not want to break into manageable pieces. And semi-sentient, they couldn't coax it to do so. So one tried to parse out what the crystal wanted and came up with: Spaceship!
So they figured why not try? A ship that would theoretically never run out of power, that could be customized as it grew. And if it was loved, it could be loyal!
The name Kenobi is given to the kybermatons that are not currently adopted by a family. It doesn't happen often but sometimes the kybermatons are surrendered back to Stewjon if the family can't afford them or are in an untenable situation. Obi-Wan, given to the Republic and staying with the Jedi, was not technically adopted and therefore kept the name Kenobi. Rux-Lan was never offered to a family. While considered a person by Stewjon, it was kept rather hush and he was never supposed to actually leave Stewjon's airspace.
But unlike most Kybermatons, Rux wasn't content with simply being part of a boring life. He'd heard Obi-Wan had gone off to the Jedi and while he wasn't force sensitive in the same way, he decided that he to needed to explore the galaxy. See where a sentient ship could fit.
Rux thinks he and Obi-Wan are siblings. Obi-Wan says they're cousins at most. Rux thinks the greatest thing in the world is to harass Obi-Wan, but if he does it too much he'll be expected so he roams around doing his best to show up whenever Obi-Wan needs rescuing.

Hondo teaches him how to be a pirate.
Feemor, after taking classes on how to repair kybermatons, becomes Obi-Wan and Rux-Lan's primary mechanic. Feemor bullies his way back into his master's life. He and Rux will fly out to wherever Obi-Wan is if he's been injured. Feemor's the only one who can get them to stop bickering.
Rux thinks that Obi-Wan is the coolest. He's manipulated his hologram appearance to that of Padawon-era Obi-Wan but taller - Short red hair, same facial features. Rux can't figure out hair physics and often looks uncanny valley when he 'walks around the ship'. But he's taller because he's older!
Obi-Wan once heard someone call him Ruxy, realized it was close to Rusty, that was that.

During the war, Rux and Feemor get sent out with resupplies, mechanical assistance, running critical patients occasionally. Many times they run rescue missions, but Rux doesn't like having people hanging out long term. He doesn't like having to keep his life support on. The ship tends to run quite cold, colder than most ships.
The most exasperated clone troopers ever see General Kenobi is when Rux slides up next to The Negotiator, flashing his lights like a rave, latching onto the Venator with a tractor beam and tugging just a little. First time troopers get alarmed when the ship shudders with no warning. Obi-Wan threatens to let the troopers just shoot him next time (he never does).
Rux-Lan is a Marauder-class Corvette ship, which is roughly 1/6 of the size of the Negotiator. He's sneaky, maneuverable, has decent firepower for the relative 'worth' of his ship's make. He's also a common enough make and not worth 'stealing'. He dreams of having enough money to become a Saboath Destroyer...

After Order 66, he takes Feemor and flees, they lay low while Feemor recovers/heals. And then just in case they change his ship make to that of the YT-1300... and his name to Millennium Falcon. One of the agreements Han Solo had to agree to was that 'his ship' was only to ever be worked on by this one specific mechanic. Han was like 'yeah sure' but after taking it to a different mechanic a couple times, each one immediately quit working on it after Rux proved the could still haunt himself just fine! Mechanics can be very superstitious.
Also Feemor's just a cheaper mechanic - at least for the Falcon.
Han gets fed the line that the Falcon was Feemor's ship, but he can't handle the stress of space travel anymore. Looking at him, with his scars and limp, no one questions it. Chewbacca and Feemor have tea sometimes, telling stories about how Han and Rux argue constantly - despite Rux not saying a single word.
Every time Han tries to fly to Tattooine, Rux has a 'malfunction'.
He's not going Anywhere Near those Jawas, thank you very much.

I wish to acquire a lightsaber. Purple, vaguely durable. Custom impact sound effect. Custom handle, though I can modify a very basic one probably easily enough.
Got my lightsabers! From Sabers Pro, they had a really good deal when I bought them and it included a free basic saber - and it's lighter than the 2 Shadow ones which means my friend can actually attempt to wield it. The 2 black ones do connect together to create a staff but I've already hit one light fixture...
They have So Many Settings and light effects and profiles and if I'm not mistaken I can add in my own, will report back if I can! Right now we're thriving on a profile called Moon Field which is basically a rainbow rave with fantastic sounds! It reminds me so much of Skies of Arcadia, which is one of my favorite games.
