Brian's white satin shirt was almost stained with a nice coffee stain which you almost choked out upon the question. What a morning. Outstanding.
"Yep, we're a little short on hands after Amelia's leave so" he left the sentence incomplete for you to understand it but soon continued in his defense, "the position can not be offered to just anyone even if its for a couple of days so ple-"
"what makes me so special?" you interrogated in hopes if you could get some answers as to why do you always get so weak in your knees and heart when you even go closer to the lift let alone the the 10th floor.
"Well Amelia wouldn't just anyone with her job as I said even if its for a couple of days." Brian said.
Of course. Honestly Brian would have never guessed he'd have to convince someone for that position that desperately. His thoughts were interrupted when you said,
"Yes, I'll do it"
The alarm clock had its own concert in the morning, but it stopped after being slapped to the ground. "Good riddance" you thought. Your back curled as you tried to wake up and sat on your bed staring at the wall. What a normal morning. ha! you wish.
After freshening up and taking a bath you moved to the dressing table for your skin care routine. Not long after you were done and raced towards the kitchen to see Olivia munching her cereal.
"You'll get sick you know, do you realize how much sugar it has?" you said on passing her by and patting her head. "Not everyone can cook like you, you know especially not in the morning ahhhh why can't it be night every time."
"Then how will the sun shine?" you passed her toast and juice to fill her up with actual food. She whined but enjoyed the meal nevertheless. Olivia never had such care taken of her. Your mom sending her bath bombs and your dad sending you guys food which would last you for seven generations. She never spoke much about her past and the long scar on her left hand all the way to her shoulders never gave you the guts to ask about it. But if you ever had a sibling, its nice to look at how she would have looked and how you guys would've been together.
You smiled at her childish grin while she ate, so cute. The morning went by peacefully until you met Brian in the café while waiting for yours's and Amelia's coffee. He told you she had taken a month long leave and dropped the bomb.
The fact that Brian found you trustworthy enough after meeting you for the first time was amazing and something you never guessed. But that pull you keep feeling someone you never knew will keep distracting you from your work and you couldn't have it. Do your work well or don't do it all; that was your moto.
So you agreed. Still hesitant but you did.
"Hello?" you asked on the phone.
"Yes, Y/N." you were lucky she answered. "Um Hi, are you okay? How are you?" Amelia wasn't one of those people who would take leaves for no good reason.
"Yeah I'm okay. I'm sorry I couldn't call you, I was just a little....occupied" the last part was stretched out.
"Oh okay its alright, but may I ask you something?" you were little embarrassed with your question. "Why you? Why are you covering for me? that's what you wanna ask right?" she guessed your question long before you could even ask.
"Look Y/N, I am usually never wrong about anyone let alone their personality so don't worry. Take up this chance well and prove yourself. Also we couldn't trust anyone enough" she was smiling on the other side of the call.
"than- wait a minute 'we'?" your eyebrows scrunched in doubt. You heard a couple of people quarreling and a few face palms. "Yeah me and Brian kiddo" she spoke in hurry.
yeah of course duh!
"Well thanks Amelia, I won't keep you long now. Bye" you concluded. "Good night"
"We were almost made out huh?" Brian spoke after a long deliberation and wait. "Yeah no shit, dumbfuck" Amelia threw a cushion at him.
They both chuckled.
"We'll have to be careful though" Tom said, alert on caution. "Yeah we can't have your mate run away now can we?" Amelia joked accompanied with Brian's laughter.
"Yeah no shit, dumb bitch. You almost scared her off the first day itself." Tom back answered. "You said intimidating" she grunted.
All three of them started to throw cushions at each other.
"Oh by the way, the council called." Brian informed.
"About the WIND? They have been meddling a lot haven't they?" Tom enquired. "Yeah, but they're taken care of, don't worry. I'll keep them in check" Amelia smirked.
"We know you will." Brian and Tom spoke together.
The three of them have been together and best of friends since they could remember. The council realized the importance of Amelia's and Brian's in Tom that he was supposed to be the next clan leader. Any disturbances were taken care of even before they were bought up in front of the council.
No one dared to challenge the alpha.
He was the leader even before he was crowned, for the people. When he said something, every one listened and followed.
But the only person, who could get him on his knees and make him go feral was you.
You wouldn't be able to concentrate in your work and he wouldn't be able to stop himself from going near you. Staying away was his only concern. He couldn't make himself being seen, not at least till you were safe.
After talking to Amelia, comfort and sleep took you in. You slept peacefully waiting for tomorrow and Tom slept thinking about you and how he had to keep you safe.
The two of you slept peacefully unknown of the mysteries and plans the rival clan, THE WIND was cooking up. But all that mattered right now was you
Sketches I did during a trip. There are lots more on the way.
Upper left and very bottom: Dragon!Tom (from @tomco-headcannons.) I like the idea of HUGE wings. They’d have to be even bigger to be physics-compliant, but I am an independent artist who don’t need no science.
Far right and lower left: Supervillain!Bill Cipher. I’ve been messing around with different designs.
Dragon!Tom and Siren!Marco. Dragon!Tom is from @tomco-headcannons, but I came up with a different AU/story/plotline because I was in Morro Bay and beach imagery was everywhere.
Dragon!Tom lives on the coast, and Siren!Marco occasionally visits the surface with Star. The meet-cute: Tom sees Marco’s tail-fin and hauls him butt-first out of the water. There’s a lot of flailing and ungodly screeching, and Tom drops Marco almost immediately because holy hell that’s not a regular fish. (Also Marco is heavy. Physics-defying wings can only do so much.)
They eventually become friends. Close friends. Suspiciously close friends. Don’t pretend you don’t know the routine, you filthy fanfiction addicts.
