You mean would she tell them what she’d done after the war?

Yes, but specifically to the Ministry or a Ministry official.

For instance, on applications, there is a question, Have you ever been arrested? Have you ever been charged with a felony?

Those kinds of questions, especially since she went into Magical Law.

For her to be approved, would she have had to admit that she broke the law during the run-up and during the war?

... would Hermione have been able to admit she did memory charms on her parents to protect them - and get them to safety? Or would she have to keep it as a secret?

avid reader: Great story, as usual! I am all for women being all they can be as long as the tests are not dumbed down. As long they are able to do what the men can do, women should be able to get the same perks and benefits men get. The fact is only women can get pregnant and women are physiologically and psychologically different from men. Let me ask a question. If both parents are in a combat force, should both parents go out to combat? Is it fair to the children involved to not have either parent. This is similar to the "Tonks dilemma", except she made a choice. The government did not send her to war.

I am too, which is why I included it, but I am also a pragmatic egalitarian who knows that men wash out as often as the women - but it’s the mindset that “It’s a man’s job” - hence my inclusion. As a Classical feminist, I think that it should be a meritocracy, where the best are chosen. Unfortunately, there is a quota mindset that gets people hurt, sometimes fatally. Just like a truck driver in a NG unit can be kidnapped and treated terribly.... sometimes war comes to those who don’t ask for it. O_O

Personally, on the Tonks dilemma... she mad her choice, not her Director. She left Teddy in protected care (Andromeda, being a Pureblood witch, would afford her child the best protection considering the situation, even if the worst case happened.

But for hundreds and thousands of parents.... sometimes, life sucks when it comes to choices made, and consequences.

But old mindsets that disabuse someone for something they have no control over is... harmful.
