spot the odd one out (extremely hard edition)(impossible)
okay so final school spirits season 3 thoughts... i did enjoy it but i have mostly criticisms
• This season had so much potential to be just as good at season 2 but it suffers so hard from pacing issues :(
• why did we spend so much time figuring out the church scar?? we went in loops for like wayyyy too long.
• janet leaving was completely unnecessary imo, she should have stayed
• the second half of the season felt way too fast paced compared to the first. again pacing issues
• the limbo world was very cool i enjoyed that a lot. BUT we should have spent two episodes there and gone in when wally went in or something.
• hospital plotline was??? also just boring?? i did like maddie's dad being brought into the mix tho. i can see where they were going trying to introduce a bus crash kid with the hospital crew but he was BORING and i did not care about his storyline
• at the end with VH!! and his fucking monologue!! dude was actually intimidating!! why wasn't he around EARLIER. even when maddie and xavier go talk to adult kyle, VH's actor doesn't show up! should have used him there!
• maddie and wally didn't need that long of a reunion scene. it was cute but like come on
• no ominous ass song to close out the season hello?? generally also just wasn't a fan of music choices this season. the car seat headrest was great tho sad they didn't use more of it
• why was simon losing his memory in limbo?? they just don't talk about this
• what was up with charley and yuri's side plot of having relationship troubles?? was that kid yuri's grandson? you can have yuri finally go into his scar but idk it felt weirdly paced
• no explanation as to how exactly VH has been body swapping all these years. i think it would have been cool if he was in someone we met before s3 so there was a bit of foreshadowing there
• maybe i am stupid but i felt like there were a lot of twists that didn't have any foreshadowing at all. i think i need to rewatch the season probably....

i feel like ever after high fans don't take a point of view from apple all that often. and we need to more
because imagine you grow up your whole life having everything laid out for you. you know how your story is going to end. you know that in the end you get your happy ending. then you come to school and the person who's supposed to set you on your destiny doesn't want to. she just says "no". and you don't understand. because if she doesn't follow her destiny she's goes poof. and your density is connected to her's. so you're going poof too. you are going to disappear and it's going to set a chain reaction that will make everyone else disappear.
of course that's fucking terrifying. is apple still kinda a dick to raven? absolutely. but it's coming from a place of genuine fear. even after the storybook is gone and she's not gone poof she's still terrified. that fear doesn't just go away. she still hopes her destiny will come around despite the book being gone. and still believes that raven is the only way she'll ever get that
don't get me started on apple's mom. like apple probably expects to become the next queen. so when the evil queen gives her that deal, not only will she get her destiny back but her mother won't be disappointed in her.
there's also the well vision scene where she sees all of her friends in danger. and we know it's fake so it seems stupid. but imagine you talk to a magic well and it confirms all the things you fear to be true. don't say you wouldn't be terrified and wouldn't do anything to stop that from happening. because I know you would.
we need more games like jazzpunk i think
i say this and then a billion game companies make a bunch of bad stupid 'lol random' games.
jazzpunk WORKS because from the beginning it establishes the tone of the game. it's not 'lol random', though it could be interpreted as such. the weird random tangents aren't treated as random. hell the whole game is a weird random tangent. it doesn't give you a false sense of security and then rip it away every so often. it's there from the get go. your realize what you're getting into as soon as you open that game.
it's weird and funny and absurd and it's not afraid to be all those things
