Although I dont watch miraculous anymore, I see the surge of hate coming towards Marinette again, why is that? How come she's being blamed yet again for keeping the secret from Adrien? How do u honestly feel about it? My essential reason for leaving the Fandom in the 1st place was due to the painful humiliation ritual the writers seem to have Marinette stuck in, season 1-3 it was kinda cute but after that it definitely ran it's course and it became very unpleasant to watch them regress her character for the sake of humor and a character to dump everything on, but what are your thoughts?
Honestly? At this point, I genuinely don’t understand the amount of blame and vitriol that Marinette gets.
Because I hear the reasons, all ranging that she’s only doing this to control Adrien, she has no right to hide this from him, she’s trying to hurt him, she’s protecting Gabriel etc, none of which I understand, and it’s getting to the point where said vitriol is now getting out of control and going wayyyyy beyond folks simply caring about Adrien.
It’s one thing to be worried about how this flawed decision is gonna backfire horribly on Marinette. She had well meaning intentions for Adrien and she herself is a victim of Gabriel too, thanks to the latter two timing her at the last minute, and putting her in a situation she never asked for. Unfortunately, this will no doubt be used as perfect bait to doom her and paint her as something she’s not in canon.
It’s also one thing to be worried that Adrien is gonna be upset about this. Because yes, this is information that he genuinely needs to know, sooner than later. The longer this goes hidden, the worse the outburst.
The issue however, is that the way a good lot of the fandom go about their hate for Marinette about this, and just the hate she gets in general, come from a place of apathy, victim blaming, and bizarre takes that are based off of out of context, misinformed scenes.
And this is where this starts to piss me off. Because why in the world are people this damn unwilling to empathise with Marinette’s situation, let alone, humanise her?? Why are people borderline giving more grace to GABRIEL out of ALL people in the overall dilemma, just because he’s gone and it’s “expected of him to be evil”, and that somehow makes him not guilty of having deceived and groomed Marinette into said flawed decision?
Imma say it as it is. This has long stopped being about Adrien, and it’s just another stupid excuse for people to victim blame, and to be misogynistic.
If this was Adrien doing any of this, those same folks would be applauding him and say he’s just trying his best!!
It’s bad enough that these kinds of things already happen in life, where victims like Marinette have their kindness, and their loved ones weaponised against them by aggressors like Gabriel, yet the victims are still the ones that have to respond for everything only for them to be ridiculed or vilified, just because they didn’t behave like a good, perfect victim!
People’s hatred for Marinette is stronger than their love for Adrien unfortunately. Adrien would absolutely despise the way his so-called fans hate on Marinette in the name of defending him.
