When eggs are just laid, it could take them from a year to up to five years to hatch. The most common time is three years but the red and black flights whelps tend to hatch sooner and the bronze whelps tend to take much longer to hatch.
While it takes a whelp only a year to develop into a drake, it takes till they turn about fifteen years for them to be a dragon. While they fully mature sooner, the common age to officially be considered an adult is twenty years old. While the red and green typically consider them mature later, around twenty to twenty five, the bronze and blue dragonflights tend to consider them to be mature at seventeen or sooner.
While even the broods that are separated from other dragons (ex Senegos, Haleh and Sabellion's broods) still loosely follow these unspoken rules, Wrathion does not. This is because he is aging 3 times as fast due to how he was created. The dragonflights still apply these rules to him, which frustrates him to no end.
