a new character I made for Midnight! Ziyani, a Farstrider ranger initiate - she's very NPC-coded, just a low level guy who signed up for this job not long ago and now she has to deal with all kinds of world-ending threats

Hi! I'm here because your most recent comm with your highborne characters showed up on my dash and my friend and I are both horribly nosey. We spent like 15-20 minutes going through your character tabs and have ended up wanting to know more about their backstory.

You can answer this privately if you'd rather the story be told through comms, but also feel free to ignore if it's not your thing! What's going on with the coffin scene? Did one of them actually die? Is it a '"'mourning who they could have been/who they once were'? Is it symbolic for their fractured relationship? I'm so curious

Hi, and thanks for asking! I'll be happy to elaborate a little :) The broad context is that all three Ravencaller siblings are visiting their family mausoleum, specifically the sarcophagus of their late mother, Teneda, throughout the day. Although she had died long before the Sundering even took place, it was a traumatic event that has stayed with them since. Each of them carries a different weight associated with their grief and deal with it in their own way, hence the theme of their separate visits. (plus some are also at odds with one another, more or less, so not all of them want to see each other lol) Melys has come to terms with it and chooses to celebrate the, perhaps a little idealised, memory of their mother. Edreth'yl, the youngest, has more complicated feelings on the matter; often an afterthought in the family's eyes, he never developed a strong bond with any of them, including Teneda. Meanwhile Eluein has the most severe reaction as she is still occasionally swept up by a wave of guilt for indirectly causing her death. In a sense you could say that it also symbolises their fractured family bonds, as you mentioned :) Hope this sates your curiosity! I'm always delighted to know there's folks interested in my characters and their stories.
