Big things happening in my parents’ pond!

We only refer to dragonfly larvae as monsters cause they look so cool. There are many monsters in the pond.

I was unwinding after an eventful-in-a-positive-way week, and after a while I thought, "I should draw something to post." I was thinking of drawing something for my game project, but then I remembered this Bug/Dark-type I came up with a while back and was immediately overcome with the desire to draw it. Not what I wanted to want to draw, but it is what I want to draw, and it's not nothing. I'm actually quite proud of this design. Figuring out how to make a dragonfly larva friend-shaped what with those freaky mouthparts proved a fun challenge.

A dragonfly baby of some kind, I’m pretty sure, which means that this fellow with the Big Mad face is a pond apex predator! Very powerful... the nightmare of many a smol creature

Someone found the biggest fucking dragonfly larva today.

This is about the size we typically see:

Dragonfly larvae are wide rather than long. At the right time of year, you can often find their shed exoskeletons on plants near water.
