How would you describe your design style?
A sophisticated, feminine form of animation. Kaleidoscopic in choice of colour, fun and frivolous, with a childlike narrative.
where does your inspiration come from for you scarf designs?
I get my inspiration from all over. I love to research a wealth of information from all available sources, such as museums, galleries, books, my surroundings. For this particular collection I was looking to inspire and emotionally enhance the wearer, bringing a spark of joy and nostalgic imagination back to their inner child. With the depression of the financial state of the country and the trials and tribulations of daily life, I hoped these designs could brighten and add a sense of fun
and frivolous personal luxury. Inspirations are taken from my own personal childhood loves, ideas of imaginative dreams, hidden worlds and fictional creatures to create a magical, colourful wonderland.
why are you drawn to using silk and also wool?
Silk is the most luxurious, high quality material to best display my designs. I specialise in scarves, so silk and wool are lavish and enjoyable materials to wear.
How and where are your scarves produced?
The scarves are digitally printed and hand roll finished in Como, Italy.
What is your favourite piece in your current collection?
I would say my favourite scarf and most popular is the Silk Crepe de Chine scarf "White Striped Butterfly’. Mainly for its variability of colour combinations when worn, as each corner of the scarf displays a different colour gradient from blue to purple to pink.
What new projects/designs are you working on?
I am now starting to design my next collection of scarves, as well as looking into men’s pocket squares and possibly home ware.
What are your plans for 2013?
More designs, to hopefully become a further known and established brand, to stock in additional stores and boutiques around the country and overseas and possibly other product ranges.
